Ortiz is a good selection of opponents for Floyd IMO.. He's a young hungry fighter coming off a career defining win.. He's a south paw and he has power. It's a fight that Floyd should win convincingly but IMO it's a better fight than PAC has made since his fight with Cotto.. Even then Cotto wasn't coming of a big win like Ortiz. right. Floyd is a good thinker when it comes to fighting on the inside. His timing is waaaaay different from the inside though. But he keeps his cool really well when he's roughing it.
I got Floyd by decision but only after he gets beat up.

i agree. Floyd's got the timing to really beat up Ortiz up to the middle of the fight. Sometimes it seems like Ortiz sleeps a little. That's when Floyd usually catches you.
After round 7 or 8, Floyd's gonna start fighting like Uncle Roger because Ortiz is a live body. Too much energy. Floyd has a super, great clinch game. It's going to be Floyd's old-school style vs. Ortiz's energy and grittiness when they start fighting from the inside.

Can't be a tune up fight.
Ortiz is going to cut off the ring all night. He has the style, size, athletics gifts and punching speed and power to do it.
Castillo was a nightmare to Floyd the 1st time around. But he lacked the speed and punching power.
Problem with Ortiz is that he doesn't move his head and he's not great at moving from the waist like Castillo. But that big body and gritty attitude will definitely be a problem for Floyd. Ortiz doesn't mind taking big shots either.

true. Don't forget the body punches. Floyd can show as much style as he wants but I don't think Ortiz will have any of it. Just watched the old Zab vs. Floyd fight. Zab had a great style vs. Floyd. He beat Floyd from the back foot and a sneaky upper cut and tight hook. Ortiz doesn't have that style though. Can't wait for the fight.

@coochicoo25 it's not that Mayweather doesn't have the power to stop people. Floyd simply doesn't take the necessary risks to stop most of his opponents. Floyd stops fighters due to a accumulation of punches he doesn't have one punch KO power, but if he hits someone enough he's going to stop them. If Mayweather shows up as the Mayweather that fought Demarcus Corley, it's going to be one hell of a fight and that's the kind of fight Mayweather needs to possibly TKO Ortiz. He's not going to KO him.

All boxers are different, al fights are different. Victor showed a lot of guts and determination against Berto, and Berto hits a lot harder than May.
I beleive Vic has a 50/50 shot at winning this fight, and I hope he does. I'm tired of the Flomos and Pactards, Vic can put an end to that, go Victor.

@coochicoo25 A lot harder than Floyd? Berto doesn't really hit that hard, he's never been known as a power puncher. Berto is explosive but has never been a devastating puncher. I highly doubt Floyd stops Ortiz, like I said Floyd doesn't take the kinds of risks he needs to stop a lot of opponents, he'd rather play it smart and lean clean scoring shots rather than put punches together and land combinations. Floyd can punch, don't fool yourself.

I would of given floyd more credit if he chose Cotto. Cotto is more experience and hits harder and has more defense.
Ortiz is still young and was possessed against Berto, unless he can be possessed again against mayweather he has no chance.
