It's 100% live. No pre-recordings. I work this stage whenever Jimmy Kimmel has concerts and was present when it was filmed.

They are. You have to remember this is sound checked many hours before the taping. Guitar amps, bass amps are all backstage isolated from any outside noise. This is tv so everything has to be perfect. Unless some thing was changed before the re-broadcast, it's live. However, not much can be done because the east coast typically gets the live feed while the west gets the replay version.
