The audio should correspond to the old, charming quality of the picture. It should have a modest amount of noise, just as is noise (graininess) present in the picture. At least two superbly written histories (not by me) of the variously titled Hal Roach kids series are on the Internet. I am unable to list their addresses. I hope that the silent ones ( I prefer them) are available on DVD. A few years ago they were available on VHS. But that’s another commentary.
