I have several mice, and they're all brilliant. When worked with, they can learn their names, and a few commands. They really do make wonderful pets.

One thing she didn't mention though, that is a common mistake, boy mice will kill each other if kept together, and pet stores don't seem to understand this.

I suggest if you're going for a RAT that you get it from a breeder. That's where I bought mine and they're more affectionate than my cat :D

Mice are very docile imo, so I found them less appealing than rats.

My dear friend - of course a cat and a dog shows affection! What happened to the saying that a dog is a man's best friend?  I grew up on a game farm and today I own property next to Kruger National Park in South Africa where the Bif Five roam. All animals are wonderful pets - I cannot imagine a life without them. But my point is about snakes - they are cold-blooded and a snake will definitely not come up to you, cuddle you or show affection.

No good idea dude. Wild mice will die of shock and stress if you try to keep that that way. The canges you talk about are often enough to make the mouse so scared that it will die only days later. Not really friendly mouse traps.

Get two. Make sure they are of the same sex, and you get the same breed, and you should be set. If you get 1 female and one male you will probably get hundreds of mice in the span of 1 year. Good luck

Mice do not take much upkeep at all, they do not really smell (apart from the males - males smell more than the females), they regularly clean themselves or each other. You cannot really keep two males together as they will fight ferociously - it is best to keep two females, firstly they get on better than males would, secondly, they do not smell as bad and thirdly, they would provide good company for each other.
