Te felecito por la tremenda , clara y concisa expresion de ideas; bravo! Aqui propongo otra posibilidad para sonar "out" que te pueda gustar: Digamos que estamos en re menor. Puedes superimponer las pentatonicas "la" menor y "si" beimol... o sea, emplear la misma tatica que explicaste pero comenzando una quinta por encima de la tonica. El espacio limitado no me permite entrar en detalles pero espero que lo disfrtues de un hermano mas aqui del club mundial de guitarristas, un abrazo... Avelino

I believe he's talking about taking the pentatonic scale and shifting it up half a step to get outside. So you take a pentatonic idea and shift it between the 2 scales - like E to F minor pentatonic. And you end the riff in original key.

He does this in different positions.

basically the "half step up, half step down"... The real key to play outside is the TEMPO and the Phrasing, not what u play. At least it doesn't matter what u play, but how u play it... and this sounds good ^_^
