  • spa shhud remove the last chicane

  • Did this man designed singapore? Is he responsible for the last chicane in spa?

Turkey is indeed a good race, I think china is a good one too..

Hockenheim was better before but it will always be a legend

Abu dhabi i think its good till the 3rd sector the last sector is horrible

I miss tracks like San marino, ostenreichring, indianapolis into F1

Korea is good did he designed that one?

  • i watched formula 1 at interlagos today, and you can really tell the difference, is so refreshing to watch a race at a real old school circuit, i get the feeling all the circuits this guy does are so artificial. always when i race the old nordsheifle in gt5 i think to myself, " man , tilke will never get close to this" i guess this is because the old circuits, like spa and others, where public roads before they became a circuit, this guy just creates shit out of nothing. he is ruining motorsport

  • I want this man to fuck off

  • Herman Tilke = The death of motor sport!

  • GT5 should get him to design a track without any restrictions from the FIA

  • shite race track designer

  • Also please, enough with these arab oil money whoring illiterate camel fuckers and their trash, in the middle of the deseart borefests. I'm sick of all these tracks in the Middle East. Exploiting people to create trash that they insolently refer to as "race tracks" in that shit hole called the Middle East.

  • The only good thing Tilke has designed is Turkey. This is his masterpiece.

    Everything else,

    Malaysia

    Bahrain (!)

    China

    A1

    Spain (hahahaaahaahha)

Absolute garbage. Abu Dhabi, LOL. HORRIBLE, god AWFUL tracks from this man. And as someone said, his main strength is butchering works of art.

  • herman tilke cant design track end off long straights and big stops dont work they need to be extreme like spa and silverstone and hockenhiem

  • this motherfucker should be killed,he is ruining motorsport

  • I THINK ITS NOT REALLY HIS FAULT ITS THE ENGINES BACK IN THE 90'S EARLY CARS WERE CLOSER MATCHED

  • His tracks ALL SUCK! He and Ecclestone are what is killing F1.

The Osterreichring was magnificent, and he gutted it!

Herman, you are a disgrace to architects and engineers everywhere.

  • formula tilke, boring, bring back the old classic circuits, bernie ruined formula 1

  • natural layout tra\cks are the best look at spa and nurburing

  • I can't believe everyone is allowing only one man to design all the new track like he's the only guy who can design them. I like a few like Sepang, Turkey, China, Aragon but, all the rest put me to sleep. If Bernie was smart, he'd have a competition. Display a map of the region where he wants to build and have people design something with what they've been given. The winner's design gets built and they win a large sum of money (maybe a contract too). Sounds pretty damn simple to me.

  • I hate his tracks. They may be designed from a scientific point of view, but they don't have a soul and never will.

  • tilke + track design = THE NEW CURE FOR INSOMNIACS!

My kid brother could design better tracks with his drool

  • Hermann Tilke has monopoly on designing race tracks by Eccelstone. Its a shame

  • Interlagos .. the best!

  • I really think you are the worst that ever happen in F1....

I hate every circuit you draw....

  • " a track has to be challenging for the drivers and exciting for the spectators"

Then how how come your tracks are none of these. After playing the new tracks on f1 games, they are fun to drive on, but crap to watch. The only good ones are Istanbul and Yeongam. They should bring back old tracks like Brands Hatch, Zandvoort, San Marino, Kyalami, Jerez, Estoril, Adelaide. What's the point in spending millions on race track in the middle of no-where that only F1 cars can use?

  • @ 0:58! How dare Tilke talk about elevation! His tracks are as flat as a pre-pubescent's tits!

  • Todays drivers are plastic! And i don't think it's the cars. It's Herman Tilkes " racetrack for rookies" so to speak. No consikvenses if you go off. Therefore todays drivers plastic! If you know you are gonna hit the sand bank, because you go over the limit there are more in the back of your mind. Put a modern car on full race setup at Nordschleife. That's a GP circuit. And then he says a racetrack has to be challenging. A dangerous corner is challenging, even though it's easy to drive through!

  • he fucking sucks fire him iunno how he got a job. his traacks are boriing if people ever notice the tracks that promotes overtaking are natural tracks like monza, spa. herman drop dead

  • I hate him, his tracks is total shit! I love natural circuits like a Spa-Francorchamps, Nordschleife, Monza, A1 Ring, Imola, Laguna Seca, Watkings Glen, Oulton Park, Montreal, Magny-Cours, Suzuka, Bathurst, Oran Park... I hate his artificial circuits, he + Ecclestone kill F1!

  • if he ever touch spa, i will ........ his stupid brain

  • So everything he says he likes in a track he doesn't do. Aerodynamics make it hard to overtake in F1 but Tilke makes it almost impossible to do. Instead of banning refuelling why not ban Tilke.

  • @ 3.55, isn't that the A1-Ring?

  • Actually it is not the new Tilke-racetracks that make F1 to become boring. It is the FIA regulations that affect cars and tracks. They do not allow for any gravel pits anymore, they restrict car development in a way that all cars perform equally good at important cruxes of the track and they demand for highest safety standards. Plus, it doesn't matter if Tilke changes existing racetracks or not. Ecclestone will eliminate tracks like Monza and Spa from HIS events (F1) anyways.

  • @ciquar the gravel trap rule is ridiculous. Lewis Hamilton has said, and even Fernando Alonso agreed with him, that run areas aren't punishing drivers for going off, like gracel traps do, which are harder to get out of. If anything, these are safer as they slow them down quicker, and it's a lot cooler to watch

  • Austin is your last chance, Tilke. If you don't make for overtaking, You'll be looking for another career.

  • "the track has to be challenging for the drivers and exciting for the spectators"

SO WHY ARE ALL YOUR DESIGNS AN OPPOSITE TO THAT?!

  • the worst track designer ever. No more Zeltweg, Hockenheim, ...please stay away from spa and monza please. You ruin the Estoril circuit....

  • Does anyone like his tracks? I don't think so, all his tracks are bad because they are very boring and don't allow overtaking, he should be sacked and never allowed to design an F1 cicuit ever again!!

Get rid of his asian circuits off the F1 calender and bring back tracks like San Marino and Magny Course etc!

  • I think he is full of sh** , He makes tracks for marketing reasons ... for the cameras rather than the sport ...

  • lets say we give you a piece of land, and you have a limited amount of money and we want you to build a race track, good? But to add to that you have to comply with the FIA regulations, and also design all the infrastructure that goes with it.

Not easy is it? You're better off pointing the finger at the FIA.

  • and if he took the nordschleife as his idol, he should replace all the asphalt around the track with grass and gravell and the barriers are just 5 meters away from the track. then you can say that it's a competition. at the moment there is so much space for mistakes and the drivers aren't punished for mistakes.

  • he just have to look at portimao in portugal or san luis in argentina THAT ARE RACETRACKS!!!

  • lol, he talks so much about elevation changes, yet many elevation changes do you see on his circuits? next to none, they're all the same flat, with a bunch of indistinctive corners, and no good overtaking opportunities, people like him are whats killing F1

  • You are right!!! the only one with some elevation changes is FUJI, but not due to him he just reformed the track a bit .... I think he desings tracks for cameras not for the sport. He and ecclestone are makig a lot of cash in destroying Motorsports ...

  • But is fuji even good?

  • @tkpenalty fuji owns dude its has overtaking like shit fuji is one of the classics with suzuka spa monza monte carlo

  • This is unfortunately due to the FIA regulations. If tilke was to carbon copy part of the nurburgring and put it into a track he'd automatically get a class 2 track; not suited for F1.

Furthermore you do realise that tilke NEVER gets to choose the piece of land that he wants. Most race organisers are concerned not only with the track but the infrastructure, a hilly area usually will have poor infrastructure. He has a budget to work around too, so changing the elevation is out of the question.

  • Watching him plot a track layout using string and pins explains why his tracks are a combination of long straights and small radius corners.

What he needs to look at is tracks like Spa, Suzuka, Monza, Silverstone, which have combinations of large radius corners, which require a lot of speed and commitment to be fast, which often results in a small hesitation which can become an overtaking oppurtunity. Long straights and sharp turns create single file and a concertina which prevents overtaking.

  • Yes, but the problem is also that there are regulations by the FIA how a new F1 track has to look like. So even if Thielke would build a new Spa, the F1 would never drive there. His best tracks are Turkey and Singapore, Malaysia is ok, too. But they will never match the old tracks.

  • The long straights followed and proceeded by slow/sharp turns aids in over-taking. He does have a varying amount of different radius corners, just look at Bahrain or Sepang or Shanghai.

He does a hard job well. If you look at many other kinds of racing other than Formula One you'll see plenty of over-taking at Tilke circuits.

  • ehmn....

Did you see the Bahrain GP this year? And no, its not refuelling, look at Melbourne...

  • I hate his tracks!!!!!!!!!!!!! like bahrain, turkey, abu dhabi, valencia, china, malaysia

    booooooooooring

  • he says he is influenced by the gradient, yet all his tracks are hardly gradient affected, not very challenging, and bloody BORING!

  • If Hermann Tilke design an oval circuit, he put chicanes on it...

  • LOL

  • have you seen valencia and singapore??

    Rubbish...

Bahrain is in the middle of nowhere....

for Malasya.... personally i dont like it, but China and Turkey are very good tracks, but in the case of Turkey, the circuit doesnt have popularity in its own country ...

about the modifications of the old tracks... Lets hope for Abu dhabi ¡¡

  • I agree r.e. Bahrain and Malaysia that they are crappy tracks. Abu Dhabi will be interesting this weekend.

  • He does make great new track but he just not able to work on older track as we have see at spa and hockenhein

  • he killed hockenheim

  • Hockenheim was better before. I don't know why they had to ruin it..

  • because of the show and the spectacle.....on the old layout, mostly of the time the cars were unseen on forest, because there was a massive public only at the stadium complex...., also, the new track has more overtaking oportunities than the older, adn bla bla bla....but, cmon, the old layout was unique, fast as hell and an excelent circuit for drivers......damn fia reglamentations...

  • it was just getting too dangerous. but i agree, the old layout was better.

  • @drvanski Yeah, Martin Brundle said part of the reason was because the outcome of the race depended almost solely on how good your engine was. Maybe because it was dangerous too but yeah, I agree new nurburgring is booooooooooring.

  • @frena323 yes he killed hockenheim, but the original track was too dangerous, so it unfortunately had to be changed. Why they dug up the rest of the track i dont know. Why they didn't just make slight changes to the original track, like inner sections that only skip a short piece of the ring I have no clue either. It's sad. I still play my f1 game for n64 sometimes just to race hockenheim

  • I admit that some of Tilke's tracks are pathetic (Valencia being the pinacle), but Istanbul is one of the most demanding current tracks, and a very good recent addition. Abu-Dhabi looks interesting too, with innovative pit exits. He's not all bad. Though it's a bit of a lie that he's inspired by the Nordschleiffe.

  • fuck tilke! He doesn´t only designs crap and boring tracks. he also destroys historic and classic circuits like Spa or Hockenheim and that´s what I really hate. Please keep this man away from Suzuka or Monza. He fucked up enough

  • Go away Hermann, nobody likes your tracks. Stupid Bernie is dumb enough to have you design all new F1 tracks!!

  • hermann please stop desiging f1 tracks - go design something else like underpants or wat but stop giving us boring f1 tracks that entertain no one at all

  • fucker i hate this bitch. makin every circuit similar. now its like a whole big tilke fuckin circuit all over the world.

modern F1 has alrdy been attempting to have more overtakin opportunities with slicks and lesser down force, but he has to make the circuits sooo fuckin boring

  • He has a new track in Abu Dhabi F1 will be running at this year. Average speed 198 km/h.

  • ...keep Hermann Tilke far away from the Monza Racetrack!!!

  • @fabibxx He already made the first chicane at monza

  • 2:38....wtf???!!!

  • Fifty drivers a year die at the Nurburgring. That's why you have to sign a waiver, folks!

  • thats wrong... some do die - but deffinitly 50 a year - maybe 5

  • @shaggyalonso Yeah, passing on the right, wtf? lol

  • @shaggyalonso man, I said the same thing! LOL

  • Hermann the track-killer

  • He sucks.... all his circuits make for incredibly boring viewing. He has ruined far too many already

  • i hope he dies in a fire

  • this guy is an idiot! he creates the most boring tracks in the world, he alone is doing a lot to help destroy f1!

  • The FIA is doing much more to ruin the sport. Eliminating traction control is a step in the right direction for F1.
