@phanhuyle Yes. Vietnam used to be called Dai Viet and is only from Ha Noi to Hue. Vietnam and Champa fought for decades and finally Vietnam won. The area from Hue to Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City now) belong to Champa. If you go to Nha Trang, you will find many temple ruins left by Champa. We still have Champa people live in Vietnam and some of them had escaped to Cambodia and other areas. Vietnam inherits many of Champa culture. Just search Google for Champa.

Human migration into SouthEast Asia and subsequently to the pacific islands occurred in two waves, the first wave are the Khmer/Champa (Austronesian). The second wave of people who are replacing the first are the Mongoloids, the Viets, Southern Chinese, and the Northern Thais. The "Mongoloids" are probably more aggressive and versatile thus replacing the first.

Maybe being born in the US have made me aware of the differences, but Northern and Central Vietnamese have a very distinct "Vietnamese" look, even though they have the common Asiatic feature of high cheek bone, almond shaped eyes. Many Southern Vietnamese, however, seem to posses some non-Vietnamese, Khmer look. I guess you can't help it, given enough time populations will begin to fuck each other. @phanhuyle Yes. Vietnam used to be called Dai Viet and is only from Ha Noi to Hue. Vietnam and Champa fought for decades and finally Vietnam won. The area from Hue to Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City now) belong to Champa. If you go to Nha Trang, you will find many temple ruins left by Champa. We still have Champa people live in Vietnam and some of them had escaped to Cambodia and other areas. Vietnam inherits many of Champa culture. Just search Google for Champa.

Human migration into SouthEast Asia and subsequently to the pacific islands occurred in two waves, the first wave are the Khmer/Champa (Austronesian). The second wave of people who are replacing the first are the Mongoloids, the Viets, Southern Chinese, and the Northern Thais. The "Mongoloids" are probably more aggressive and versatile thus replacing the first.

Maybe being born in the US have made me aware of the differences, but Northern and Central Vietnamese have a very distinct "Vietnamese" look, even though they have the common Asiatic feature of high cheek bone, almond shaped eyes. Many Southern Vietnamese, however, seem to posses some non-Vietnamese, Khmer look. I guess you can't help it, given enough time populations will begin to fuck each other. If you want to know what original Vietnamese/culture are like just go to Hue and Hanoi.
