People should stop mentioning Coldplay in videos or posts about Radiohead. People are obviously going to be furious. Look, undoubtedly, Radiohead is way better than Coldplay. And it's true, Coldplay's early work was clearly influenced by Radiohead. They actually improved when they stopped channeling Radiohead. But anyway, Coldplay's songs are good to listen to, and the members aren't terrible at what they do, so stop mentioning Coldplay, for their own sake.
This song makes me feel like going out on a date and having a one night stand with an extremely attractive young female whom I know I will never talk to ever again, but will continue see from time to time.
Hey if you guys like this you should also check out Tangent Transmission! Ive been listening to them ever since I heard them on NCIS:LA and love it. Reminds me of Radiohead a bit.
A friend once asked me why I listen to Radiohead and this song exemplifies my answer more than any other. They make me feel something. It doesn't matter if that something is sadness or ennui or something much more profound. Because sometimes it's important to feel something and I've never found a band who can even come close to doing that as well as Radiohead.
hey everybody PLEASE come check out my creative video's .. i spend a great deal of time on them and get very low views.. be sure to watch (SEEDS) and (SOFTLY CONFINED) and much more. thanks! :)
@distantkomakino I absolutely could have mentioned many other great English bands. In my opinion though, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and Radiohead are the most profound.
@Illadelphism Meh, that's in your opinion. Those 3 bands make good music in the taste of the western folks and those aren't the 3 best bands because there are also lots of good bands from the US and many other countrys. Bands from Azia and Africa aren't famous because they don't sing English. And added to that, they aren't as wealthy as the western countrys. To make a long story short: You're statement isn't right, that's why.
@TheJesperAble You are very simple-minded. Music is subjective; you like your music, I like my music. I was simply stating three incredible bands that, in my opinion, have played an integral role in shaping music as we know it today, and how odd of a coincidence it is that all three bands started off in England. Why does everyone have to come onto Youtube to spark arguments? You can't argue about something as subjective as music, and trying to do so only makes you look stupid. Have a nice life.
@Illadelphism I wasn't argueing about the music. I was argueing about your statement. I just make you think, that's all. Because in my opinion every argument has it's weakness and I enjoy myself finding those. I also like philosophy. I hope you understand why I comment now. And you're right I think they're 3 very good bands as well. But that doesn't mean their famous to the whole world.
@ingeniosodonquijote Sorry, but let's agree to disagree. I personally believe The Shins and the three bands I mentioned should never be used in the same sentence. Again though, that's my opinion, and I still respect yours.
@SamRemembersPluto Thank you for clearing that up. It all makes sense now: the English smoke tea instead of weed. I guess I'll pack a bowl of tea later and see what happens. Maybe I'll write the next Paranoid Android after taking some tea bong rips.
@30NIGHTCRAWLER30 Because no one will remember a band like Coldplay in 100 years. Sorry, but I consider it a sin to mention Coldplay and Radiohead in the same sentence. Listen to OK Computer (which came out in 1997) and then listen to Coldplay's Parachutes (which came out in '99). It's blatantly obvious that Coldplay is directly influenced by Radiohead. In short, Radiohead are the innovators, Coldplay are the imitators.
@Illadelphism bands speaking of epic bands. Of you2 saying? or Kings of leon? and Foo Fighters? I think they are definitely bands that passed into history
@Illadelphism Not necessarily true. Just because a band is influenced by another band, doesn't mean that there imitating. That's like calling Led Zeppelin imitators of Jimi Hendrix, just because Jimmy Page was inspired by him.
@Illadelphism so fucking true, i was scared to look at the comments cause i know there would be a lot of dumb asses but you just restored my faith in the internet. Thank you.
@Illadelphism I get what you are saying and trust me, I love radiohead, but they themselves are obviously influenced by other bands (See: Nirvana, who were influenced by the Pixies, who were influenced by The Jesus and Mary Chain, who were influenced by Misfits). You can play this blame game all the way back the the Beatles, it doesn't make Coldplay any less of a worthy band.
@Illadelphism What are you talking about? No one will remember a band like coldplay? It is ridiculous to say a thing like that. I'm a HUGE radiohead fan. I'm also a HUGE coldplay fan. Coldplay got inspired by radiohead. Not immitated --> inspired. Big difference. Very superficial to think that a band like coldplay will just vanish. Coldplay is an awesome band who developed their own style (influenced by radiohead, as they acknowledge themselfs). I just ahh.. strongly disagree..
@Illadelphism Plus why is it always like; OOH RADIOHEAD IS SOO AWESSOMME SO COLDPLAY IS NOOOTTTTT. It's like saying Bach is the one and only and beethoven was forgotten (inspired by Bach, as every composer) in time. Ridiculous
@Illadelphism First of all, Parachutes came out in 2000.
Second of all, Coldplay has made four albums since Parachutes and they have their own (happier) style : In My Place, The Scientist, Amsterdam, FixYou, Speed of Sound, Viva La Vida, Violet Hill, Charlie Brown and dozens of great songs have nothing to do with Radiohead.
Third of all, Tom Yorke respects Chris Martin (he congrats them after A Rush of Blood to The Head). Tom Yorke is "Chris Martin with a down syndrome".
@Padmanakin Have you noticed that almost of Coldplay's Music sounds the same? Radiohead has the most diverse music, they explore areas of music that Coldplay cannot even comprehend, there's really no arguing with that. Furthermore, Thom Yorke is an absolute modern genius, Chris Martin...average I'd say
@PMACfourtyone Have you really heard two Coldplay albums in your life ? What's similar between Parachutes and Viva la Vida ? A Rush of Blood and Mylo Xyloto ? Yeah, Radiohead have been far ahead everybody, we know that, Chris Martin knows that, and he has been clever enough to make his own path, believe it or not. Somehow, Radiohead can't do things as simply happy and successfully soulful as Coldplay. They are two ways to see the world and I love them both.
@Padmanakin I've heard them all, I've also heard all of Radiohead's (except Pablo Honey), and I know what you're saying. Coldplay's music is more approachable, digestible, any shmuck can pick it up and enjoy. I think Coldplay is pretty good. Radiohead though....their music goes the deepest. To say Coldplay is more soulful is a sin. There's enough "happy" music out there, we need talented music. Radiohead puts more soul into every song than most put into their singles and with the most creativity
@Padmanakin Furthermore, Coldplay makes music for their fans and publicity, which is called being a sellout....i meant Rhianna! Are you kidding me?! Radiohead makes music for the soul purpose of making breathtaking music....not what people ask for, not for money, not for fame, not for the critics.
@PMACfourtyone That's what I thought : you don't know Coldplay at all. They forbid their music to be used in publicity or things they don't care about. What you don't understand is that fame is not a shame. Coldplay is making music for a far larger audience than Radiohead and they don't care about critics anymore because doing a song with Rihanna is a suicide for "rock critics" : Coldplay is also pop and they're just working with one of the best pop singer today. They don't need more fame.
@Illadelphism i love radiohead and have been a fan for a long time. but coldplay has said time and time again that radiohead is their inspiration. in short, coldplay is radiohead jr. and they've admitted it multiple times. just enjoy the music.
@Toughguysdontdance12 FUCK YOU. Led Zeppelin fuckin' rocks, but why should I care what you think? This is coming from a kid whose account name is "toughguysdontdance12". I'm going to change my name to "Tough guys crank up Zeppelin and beat up little pussies like you; then they dance and take a girl home with 'em."
I'm 14, I just wish I could have lived in a generation NOT full of man-whores with another slut around their arms listening to sounds that aren't even music, sounds that sound like when the freaking raccoons go in my recycling and knock everything over. Don't worry, if you're older and you have lost hope in MY generation, THERE ARE STILL A FEW ABLE-MINDED PEOPLE LEFT. :)
@Alexandraisaboss Sush I'm 15 and I love Radiohead :3 The world is just to focused on the Hip Hop world they pay no mind to us and there's a lot of people like me and you.
i feel sorry for people who listen to paranoid android, pyramid song, and this one and still think muse and coldplay are better. their musical tastes are way too poor . . . because they prefer bands that try to churn out crap on every album. maybe they should start listening to miley cyrus and justin bieber.
Thom is staring at the camera... I'm staring at my computer's screen, more importantly at Thom's eyes....For some reason it feels like we are staring at each other....It's so weird....and on top of that, the song is freaking amazing and has this strong effect on me....but it's a good effect, it makes me happy...
We're an independent label trying to make it in this game and the best way to do that is by being more known on youtube. One of the ways we stand out is we help unsigned artists get more fans by uploading their songs for a new fan base
You can change our future with one simple click.
Please thumbs up so other people can see this and check out our channel and comment with feedback if you like, also if you think we could improve.
If you like check the other artists we have over 80 vids up!
Interesting fact: This song was an easter egg delay. In the same way High and Dry was recorded for Pablo Honey but left out for the Bends, this song was written and recorded for OK Computer but left out for a decade later. I believe the song you hear on the IR vinyl is the version recorded in 1997.
You are exaggerating. it takes a while to really understand how much some of their song are good, like this one but i never thought this song was crappy or something like that
@MrPeguin666 Yeah Lotus Flower was the first Radiohead song I'd ever listened to and when I heard it, I was like WHAT IS THIS BORING DRUM LOOP WITH THE SINGER I CAN'T HEAR WHAT THE HECK HES SAYIN!!! But now, 5 months later, I'm listening to it all the freakin time and even randomly breaking out in Thom Yorke dancing. Well, thats my story. (This song rules too. Best from in rainbows.)
@MrPeguin666 Yet I'm sure you'd consider 'pop music' to only be so liked because it's been drummed into peoples heads so much.
Personally I've always liked this song. I don't have to force myself to listen to a song repeatedly to like it so I can consider myself a fan. What kinda sad fuck lives like that?
@MrObviouslyJesus I'm exaggerating obviously. I wouldn't listen to it if it was crap. It usually starts off kind of bland and boring, but not bad. The next day you wake up and it calls you back
I want to take this music and eat it for dinner.

Thom is staring at the camera... I'm staring at my computer's screen, more importantly at Thom's eyes....For some reason it feels like we are staring at each other....It's so weird....and on top of that, the song is freaking amazing and has this strong effect on me....but it's a good effect, it makes me happy...

RADIOHEAD FOR PRESIDENTS OF THE WORLD!!!
ArameoDios 1 month ago
Interesting fact: This song was an easter egg delay. In the same way High and Dry was recorded for Pablo Honey but left out for the Bends, this song was written and recorded for OK Computer but left out for a decade later. I believe the song you hear on the IR vinyl is the version recorded in 1997.

This is how being a Radiohead fan goes
First listen: What the fuck is this crap
Second listen: This is okay
Third listen: This is the best fucking song human beings have ever made
Fourth listen: I want to have sex with this song
Fifth listen: I had sex with this song

You are exaggerating. it takes a while to really understand how much some of their song are good, like this one but i never thought this song was crappy or something like that

SirGeorge8600 1 month ago
@MrPeguin666 Yeah Lotus Flower was the first Radiohead song I'd ever listened to and when I heard it, I was like WHAT IS THIS BORING DRUM LOOP WITH THE SINGER I CAN'T HEAR WHAT THE HECK HES SAYIN!!! But now, 5 months later, I'm listening to it all the freakin time and even randomly breaking out in Thom Yorke dancing. Well, thats my story. (This song rules too. Best from in rainbows.)
dramaticpickles 1 month ago
@MrPeguin666 Yeah, at the start it is actually hard to get into Radiohead, thank heavens for My Iron Lung.
manbot2010 1 month ago 4
@MrPeguin666 Yet I'm sure you'd consider 'pop music' to only be so liked because it's been drummed into peoples heads so much.
Personally I've always liked this song. I don't have to force myself to listen to a song repeatedly to like it so I can consider myself a fan. What kinda sad fuck lives like that?

@MrPeguin666 I started at the 3rd step.
MrObviouslyJesus 1 month ago
@MrObviouslyJesus I'm exaggerating obviously. I wouldn't listen to it if it was crap. It usually starts off kind of bland and boring, but not bad. The next day you wake up and it calls you back
