The PG-V rating was used throughout 1998 for Raw, but the WWF has done a lot of non-PG stuff on the show like heavy sexual overtones (DX's antics, Val Venis' penis reference-laced promos, Sable etc) language (Steve Austin's awesome obscenity-filled in-ring interviews) and some blood.
@gertjaarsify They used a PG rating, ratiings aren't eras. If they were, then couldn't every era be considered as a PG Era, since every era that's used a tv rating has used PG on some show?
@gertjaarsify RAW used it for the first year of the era. SmackDown only used TV-14 for 2 months. The first TV-14 PPV was King of the Ring 98, while the AE was already underway. The logic of people who thought of "PG Era" is completely off and it's a shame that no one has ever questioned it. It should be what WWE promotes during a certain period, just like they did with Attitude here.
I truly think the Attitude Era completely ended in between early to mid 2002. Both Rock and Steve Austin left, the Hardcore title was retired, the European title was retired, the WWF 'attitude' heavyweight title was retired for the Undisputed title, RAW IS WAR was discontinued, Jakked/Metal was discontinued, the Brand Extension was introduced, etc etc. Wrestlemania 17 was just the BEGINNING of the end of the Attitude Era. At least for me for me anyway.
@NewLegend07 There's no blood because with WWE becoming more known in the business world and with the investigations going on at WWE, they needed to clean their image to appeal to investors and to avoid getting looked at oddly by the publlic.
@DavidJ751990 yeah but techinal it ended at like wrestlemania 17 cause like right before that wwf bought wcw Which ended the monday night wars and yeah
The clear up the confusion of the 2002 i put that because the last sig was last put out in 1998- 2002 until wwf changed to wwe then had a differnt sig.
Look at every storyline that happened after WM17. It was about signing WCW/ECW stars and burying them with WWF Superstars. It was more toned down too.
2002 can't be the last year of the Attitude Era. Stone Cold started it and it ends with Stone Cold at WM17.
@monosaturated but in 2002 is when they changed it from WWF to WWE because of the world wildlife fund... and they had the WWF attitude scratch logo right up untill they changed it to WWE.....and yes they did use the attitude intro in 2002....but in saying all that you are right the attitude era DOES NOT include the year 2002.....The Attitude era ended on April 1st 2001....
Fuck CENA ERA!

Actually the last one was the only one that was part of the "Attitude era". The others were from "The New Generation".
