How much audio can you record on a 1gb pen? If you had 1-2 hour lectures, would the pen be able to record most of it? Can you upload the audios onto your computer too?

(This may be a stumper): Does the dot-matrix location algorithm work if the paper is upside down? With spiral notebooks, the spine gets in the way half the time, so I write on every other page, then when I get to the end I turn the notebook upside down and write on the other half-pages.

How does it fare writing on both sides of the paper?

Does it work on regular paper, or does it really need the proprietary paper? So is the paper worth the wait for ordering from amazon?

yes there is a 30$ software (myscriptforlivescribe) which converts the pages to word doc. In the newest pen this software is included for free but the pen is more expensive (250$) than the old version (150-200$).

It records when you hit the record button. You are able to replay what the professor is saying while you are writing something by tapping the words. You can set it so that there's a latency so when you tap the word that you wrote, it will replay the audio 5 seconds before you wrote the word.

I wish the stereo mics weren't built into a headset! I don't think my professor would appreciate seeing me wear ear buds in class...however, I guess it would work as well just laying them on your desk? Is it possible to buy a better stereo mic that plugs into the top of the pen that is not a headset? Thanks for answering!

Also, how well does this work of you are left-handed? It seems as though it would not work easily, as the screen would be upsidedown.

Luckily, there's a "Left Handed" button that you can touch on the paper that flips the screen.

There's also a mute button and volume controls (buttons on the paper as well) that allow you to be subtle during class.

No, it can't do that yet, but it should be possible in the future

You can have it turned into text through a $30.00 program. It's not perfect, though (they have a free trial) and it only makes sense if your notes are written paragraph-style.

Either way works. It can act as just an audio recorder.

from press "record" to press "stop"

so you press record and write, then pause writing and it will keep recording, then you write another note and it will still record, but set a new point of interest, like a bookmark, to the word you just wrote.

Nothing happens with your own paper, but you can print their special paper out with your own printer. It's AMAZINGLY helpful if youre taking AP highschool or college classes where there are actually lectures. Often times I will take an odd note, and forget what was said in the lecture, and simply, you click it and bam. you can hear the professor. It's amazingly helpful. Really love this pen. :D

it depends where you're sitting at. dont use it if you're like way in the back. always take notes in the front of the class. my audio is nice and clear from the front row. my straight a's can prove it lol

The mic is supposed to be pretty good. But they also come with some earbuds that have built in Mics with them too. And they are REALLY good. You catch pretty much everything that they are pointed at lol. I have no problem making out what anyone says even if I am sitting in the back of the lecture hall.

When you sync the smartpen with your desktop, does it delete what you save. Meaning, does it save all of the data on the pen so getting a 2GB would be better or is it like a camera, when you load your photos on the computer, it deletes them from your camera.

I've got a question for you. You said you had the 1GB version. At which quality do you record audio and how many minutes you are able to record? For example, what if you had to archive lesson X because of space issues and today you recorded lesson Y, but the day after tomorrow you will need those notes / records from lesson X again. Is it possible to put these notes back on the pen again?

Can you use a ruler to make a straight edge or will the pen not read the dot matrix b/c the ruler, as well for many other type of items for making figures?

Yep, you can trace, as long as the camera is above the paper and not the ruler. I've used the pen to trace my hand and rulers.
