  • Funny thing is... airsoft manufacturers are building rifles/handguns that has more and more recoil with every new model, while real gun manufacturers work their asses off to reduce recoil.

  • This dude is a pretty cool cat

  • God damn, do I hate the term "real steel" used by kids who play airsoft. Change it up a bit by saying "live fire gun" or "actual firearm." It just makes you sound that much less knowledgeable about firearms.

  • Cool

  • damn. holy mother of information. Thank you.

  • the real steel guys who despise airsoft are the obese motherfuckers who shoot at dirt and squirrels and are too fat and lazy to actually train for combat.

  • I thought u had 2 of each

  • I'll say right now that force on force is definitely completely different than just training. What Travis said is right about building stress. You know you train well when you go and do force on force, and your skills work just the same.

  • is this his basement??

  • Travis, from an airsofters point of view thank you for making this. Airsoft is always under scrutiny by ignorant people and real steel fanboys.

  • @Squab27 too true. stupid people don't realize that alot of airsofters are ex military and real steel owners

  • @SamuraiPie8111 I started out with guns by starting Airsoft in College

  • @Excalibur01 how did you manage to play airsoft in college? did you have to drive to your house to pick up your guns?

  • @SamuraiPie8111 I was away for college and lived off campus. At least 2 times a month, my team and I go out to skirmish and train and every so often, we sign up for games with dozens to hundreds of others.

  • 11:10 Hop up?? the bbs would be going sideways

  • Its good you mentioned about checking your local laws and checking with your local police station. There was a guy in British Columbia who was shooting his AEG G36C in his backyard when a neighbor seen him and called the police. They apparently showed up to his house with weapons drawn until they took it to find out it is merely a replica/toy. Another thing to mention is letting your neighbors know about your airsoft gun if your plinking with it in your backyard. Awesome vid man. Big fan. Sub'd!

  • Very good choice of weapons and very nice video. But if you do want to be as realistic as possible you should go with GBB guns.

  • Wow. lol xDDD

  • 4:00 Just make sure to get a good brand's bio BB's. The lower quality ones will deform and break apart in the barrel which will ruin your gun.

  • You guys gotta realize, Haley put his nuts on the chopping block when he started supporting airsoft. The truth is, most real steel guys despise airsoft.

  • @Rawls03 really? then why is sootch00 is training with airsoft? then y are US airsoft suppliers running out of gas airsoft rifles by being bought by local LE units?

  • GBB rifles would replicate it even better in my opinion, but they are not as reliable and a bit more expensive in many cases.

  • you should use a gbb m4

  • This video made me respect Haley even more. He's a real shooter who doesnt down airsoft because it's not "as cool."

  • don't get king arms ... trust me ... i found that out the hard way

made in china stuff aren't that bad they have a good life span

  • >2012

    >men playing with toys

    thanks, Jews

  • @BrendanIsCool You are a sad sad little man.

  • @shadowblade145 why do you think so?

  • @BrendanIsCool Because you think these are toys, and that jews caused it.

  • @shadowblade145 may Lord Krishna one day bless you with the truth.

  • @BrendanIsCool Alright. That made my day.

    I can't stop laughing xD

  • You sir just sold me on Air soft training .

  • Hello operator? yeah you can take the day off. This guy is doing all the operating today.

  • oh man i'd love to play wargame with him... i'd be on his team, of course!

  • HA.. f.kyouall airsoft haters. Don't be afraid to loose your "manhood" training with airsoft guns.

  • FINALLY! someone who knows what hes talking about

  • so much magpul

  • gas blowback rifles will give you a realistic ammunition count in the magazine and also give you more recoil

  • You should try some gas blowbacks!

  • imagine playing a milsim game against travis haley........game over

  • I completely agree, I have been using GBB and AEG airsoft guns for a very long time. Up until about a month ago I had never shot a real firearm, but when I got to the range I knew exactly what to do, how to treat the weapon, how to load, unload, reset, and discharge the firearm(

I wasnt too bad a shot either ^.^) but I learned all this from practicing and playing with the airsoft guns people call toys

  • @ifyspiffy I passed a weapons handling test with 1 hour of formal training and plenty more with a particularly cheap airsoft gun and the internet.

  • there's a kitten that keeps going in my backyard i intend to destroy it can i shoot at it ????

  • if you use an airsoft gun to train get a bas blow back AR or MK16/17 because they are both made to have more recoil than a traditional blowback aeg like the one you showed. also the gas blowback rifles function even more like a real firearm than the tm guns you showed

  • Very nice video, and if the guy in the video is the one who uploaded this video and looks at these comments, then I say OORAH. Yeah, I noticed the E.G.A on your forearm :)

  • evike sent me here :)

  • Evike liked this

  • Nice EGA tattoo. I'm leaving July 2nd for boot camp.

  • anybody too mesmerized by the wall behind him to hear a single word...lol

  • @gto3440 Heck yeah...I want to rob that place

  • @TheTitanium22 that wouldnt be too smart...think about it

  • And he talks about cost when his wall paper is AR-15's

  • thx man.

  • ITS TACTICAL PATCH IN THE BACK GROUND

  • soooooo serious.......

  • are those thing apply to pistols as well?

  • The new KWA line coming out this spring has realistic recoil. The GBB & AEG versions have equel kick, (I've tested at Irene), go with the new KWA line. They are going to be quite impressive.

    Marcus A\

    Delta MilSim Group, WI

  • @pbHepitonic So at the risk of being less accurate and not play as well, you would want a airsoft gun that has realistic recoil? I see absolutely no point in that.

  • @pbHepitonic Ya, but no blowback. I love KWA but until they make a blowback AEG, im sticking with like the tokyo marui, G&G, etc that have recoil plus blowback. Just saying.

  • @NerfLover300

It has both dude. Haven't you seen them on the shot show videos?

  • @pbHepitonic for training I would use a GBBR because they can emulate gun malfunctions (I've had to clear double feed malfunctions in my we g36 for example). Sure hope those kwa guns reach europe.

  • I dont wanna be in a airsoft battle with Travis as enemy

  • Hi Haley. If you haven't seen it, there is a brand named TOP that actually have shell-ejecting weapons/airsoft replicas, maybe that will.give your training a more realistic feel. You could also train double feed, if that's worth training on. Maybe the system is a bit new now, and may have some problems, I won't know since I don't have that weapon myself. But it seems like a good idea.

  • gbbrs while feeling more realistic, simply do not offer the reliability that electric guns offer. real weapons do not suffer from gas leaks or stop working in cold weather, until GBBRs can offer similar or better reliability than electric guns, then your best bet for tactical training is an AEG.

  • I love this video. Lots of real steel owners forget that airsoft was originally developed for the purpose of training so no these are not simply toys. This stigma exists because some airsoft owners treat them as so, but about as many firearms owner do the same with their guns. So before you go and disagree with everything Travis pointed out here, go pick up an airsoft...a real airsoft gun, get a feel for it and fire it off using your same fundamentals before you pass judgment.

  • @headlesschicken6661 They were originally developed as model guns. Marushin, being a model gun and airplane company, was among the first in the 1980s. Airsoft guns for the most part or for recreational play, does not mean you can work on fundamentals. But many airsoft guns (mostly AEGs) have cosmetic and balance issues for authenticity. Airsoft AR-15s tend to be thicker and overall a tad bit bigger.

  • Someone who knows guns who supports airsoft? This is rare, and I greatly appreciate this Travis.

  • Comment removed

  • he should try a gbbr

  • he should try a gbbr

  • Just get a G&P for M4s, GHK fro AKs, and dare I say it but WE for Scars (but with the money left over you could probably put some upgrades).

  • You can always buy systema ptw.

  • Thanks for the vid. It was very helpful!

  • Hey Travis if you like these great rifles as an alternative to real steel then you need to look into GBB ( Gas Blow Back) pistols, the pistols have great recoil and weight, look in to them they are great as an alternative to real steel. Thanks great video

  • @bushbaby151 GBB rifles as well, more simplistic fire mechanism and kick.

  • Travis, try some Gas Blow Back replicas like the G&P WOC M4 series instead of the TM SRE. For training they are the best type of ASG because they reproduce all the function of a gun:

30bb mags, correct direction of the recoil, pretty same mobile components (bolt carrier, bolt catch, trigger structure ecc...), more realistic trigger response than a normal electric gun.

    Nice video any more!

    Greating from Italy.

  • I think Travis should've just got a gas blowback rifle. He would have a good time shooting that.

  • i've been preaching this idea for the last year now, good to know a PRO agree's

  • firing an airsoft gun is nothing like firing a real firearm. making training with it, irrelevant.

  • @hyperjuggalo Firing a real firearm with a blank adapter and IR emitting gadgets is nothing like a real firearm loaded with real ammo.

Let's just shoot real ammo at each other.

  • @hyperjuggalo theres more to training than firing your weapon actually that's probably the simplest part and by your close minded and amateur comment i doubt you have done either lol. and you have horrible taste in music which also a dead give away that your dumb haha. oh ya im fat but you can cure dumb ill just get that outa the way for ya lol.

  • @hyperjuggalo The only real difference is recoil and the fact that a shell is ejected. What else is there???

  • @hyperjuggalo you're a fuckin dumbass. have you even taken the time to see this video before commenting?

  • its a toy!

  • Travis, thanks for posting this. I've been advocating the use of airsoft guns as a force-on-force and general training supplement to live-fire for years now. You did a great job with this video. Cheers.

  • i would hate to play airsoft against you ahaha

  • Now that's a man-cave.

  • @UrbanTiger74 A dream come true!

  • we train milsim continuously . its also a pass time for us . b ut weve taken some novice shooters to the range with live fire and have seen the significance of live and training with airsoft and live fire . we love it all too well .. thnx travis

  • Haha! I imagined Travis using Magpul PTS airsoft guns.

  • The best aspect of training with airsoft guns: your targets are live, think for themselves, and shoot back accurately. Can't get anything else with those aspects

  • on le sait khan. great vid man but did the scar products can go on you EBBr scar?

  • @haleystrategic travis look into g&p woc gas blowback rifle systems. As real as it gets. Aegs are great, but for true simulation, gbbr's are the best. Actual bolt system and everything

  • I passed a weapons handling test fist time with only 2 hours of experience with the real thing, and a lot of practice with an airsoft gun.

Most people go through around 9-10 hours of training with the real weapon before taking the WHT.

  • Paint is too mainstream. I'll just cover my wall with AR-15s.

  • @krg176 And AR-10's.

  • You are absolutely right about the gas blowback guns. Also they have ALOT less realiability (spelling?). An electric airsoft gun will last you alot longer and also save you more money. Only + with gas airsofts, is a bit more kick basicly.

But also as "XxrangerRainbowxX". For those of you "real steel" guys who use real guns and want a fast trigger. You could spend a big buck on a Systema PTW M4. The trigger respons on those airsoft guns is probably the fastest among airsoft guns.

  • @hiruka18 The systema ptw also uses a bolt catch function just like the tokyo marui shock recoil models. The only difference being that systema does not have any recoil at all. But the feel of the gun and robustness is a huga difference. I got one of these my self and i absolutely love. Used to be an active pistol shooter and hunter at younger ages. But, i found that shooting at targets that also fight back is alot more fun.

  • @hiruka18 To be honest, I would still buy a TM or a GBBR over a Systema. With the TM Recoil shock series I can wire a mosfet to get me a fast trigger response. Especially with a higher voltage battery. It will still be cheaper and have the same function. Plus, it's cheaper to fix the TM than the Systema, the spare parts are too expensive. Mind you this is coming from a person who actually dislikes TM (I will give them the credit for AEG's existing.) And with the GBBR's I can use them for summer

  • @Shinakumiatsu That's absolutely a good idea. As long as the buyer is willing to also do some mech job on it aswell. Installing a mosfet isnt hard. But as you sure know. All people really dont wanna do any mods. But as long as you have the interest and patience. I say go for it!

  • @hiruka18 Hell yeah dude!

  • @hiruka18 Or you do as Shinakumiatsu and get an basicly and AEG for about 400-500$ by a mosfet for 100$ and then you have the same trigger response for about half of the price, also Systema to my knowledge only makes MP5/M4/M16 platforms, no SCAR, no G36 or any other weapons.

If you know where to look you could probably get 2-3 normal AEG's with Mosfet for the same price as an Systema.

  • if you shop for airsoft on evike.com, its about $10 for 5000 rounds

  • @DevilsAirsoft Evike BBs are crap.

  • @John234pwns evike doesn't make the bbs

  • @DevilsAirsoft Doesn't matter. I've used them. They suck.

  • Check out Systema airsoft guns Haley... Built specifically for training purposes. Just as reputable as Tokyo Marui.

  • @XxRangerRainbowxX They cost over twice as much as the TM recoil shok for the same functionality. Why do you think Haley got TM instead of Systema?

  • @John234pwns You think Haley cares about saving money... the guy is rich.

  • @XxRangerRainbowxX Do people become rich by wasting money?

  • One thing that is a little different for airsoft. When you were shooting over the hood of your car, you held your rifle sideways. When you hold an airsoft rifle sideways, the bb's will fly far to the left due to the hop-up unit. So if you're trying to hit a target while in that position, you're gonna have a tough time.

  • @numb0617 - Yes, the way the hop up system works, it can. But it depends how much the Hop-up is turned up and also at what range the target is at.

  • @numb0617 At close range it's only a marginal difference. Works out to fifty meters, in my experience. You could also turn hop up off if you want to do it more accurately at range. Not a complex issue.

  • Awesome!!

  • i want to get an electric airsoft, what do u recomend

  • AirSoft is a great way to keep up your training while you're stuck in a country where you can't have a real gun... like Japan. It's also a great way to teach a new shooter some muzzle/trigger discipline before they shoot themselves in the leg. You can even sleep with your rifle without worrying about blowing your brains out.

  • かっこよすぎるだろw

  • Airsoft are a great training tool. You can train in front of your Computer with my new Interactive Dry Fire Practice Video! watch?v=s6bQseZba4Q

  • I like the idea of using airsoft to train and gain proficiency in tactical scenarios.

Any particular recommendations on name brands of airsoft?

Any way to locate local airsoft tactical training clubs?

  • So thats what the inside of the Bat Cave looks like!

  • Great video - I use airsoft pistols to practice during the winter. Where do you get these airsoft rigs you showed in the vid? Thanks & keep up the good work. :)

  • If I was still on my airsoft team, I would show this vid to ALL of them and to others that chuckle when the think of Airsoft. A couple of my Marine buddies really think Airsoft is a joke compared to the impact of paintball

  • How much to buy that room? I need to wipe the drool off my keyboard now, excuse me.

  • As an experienced airsoft participant, do not re use bbs in the higher quality weapons. Especially if you have an upgraded barrel because you will damage the inside and also increase the potential for a malfunction (at the least destroy the barrel). To all who dismiss airsoft I would like to say don't knock it until you try it. Not only is it EXTREMELY fun but you absolutely get to experience that sensation of fear and then fall back on fundamentals. Man on man training in any form is useful.

  • @XXNerdzillaXX, he was talking about cleaning.

  • Good!

  • BB弾の価格ですが、彼は15ドルと言ってます。

    1000発で50ドルは高すぎです。

  • Faved

This is a first class video. This was much needed and glad to see it out in the world.

  • Well done

  • 東京マルイ!!

  • This is probably an obvious tip for people, but please don't mistake your live weapon for your airsoft equivalent, as you will get laughed at.

  • AEGs are best suited to Short to Mid-range Rifles with Last Round Stop a very new feature on only a few models.

Gas Blow Back is best suited to Pistols with some of the new SMG offerings giving very respectable performance..

Springers are best suited to the High Velocity Sniper Rifles.

  • Would airsoft handgun also apply to (if not doing even better job then rifle) this mindset as well?

  • @4IN14094 I feel they do. Any good quality GBBP will have last shot hold open, Realistic weight and Feel, and you can short load the mag to replicate RS capacity.

Respected GBBP manufactures are KWA/KSC, Tokyo Marui, WE , Maruzen, and Marushin.

KWA and WE are the easiest to find in the States, RedWolf or EHobbyAisa will have the largest selection but you run risks with import seizure.

Green Gas is propane with added silicone Lube you can buy adapters for coleman camp bottles.

  • Just remember, real steel shooters, never reuse BB's. And a good place to buy airsoft weapons would be Evike dot com.

  • Don't use bios! They ruin guns!!!

  • @BsAirs0ft Only lower grade or not properly stored bio BBs will ruin your gun.

  • @richardsimons1234 No any bio bb will ruin your gun.

  • @BsAirs0ft How would it ruin your gun? The only way i see it ruining your gun is if it is already degrading and then you put it through your gun. In this case, i would say that they were not properly stored or are not quality BBs. If quality bio BBs are properly stored and used, it will not do so and thus not ruin your gun. Combined with proper maintenance, quality bio BBs are perfectly fine to use.

  • @richardsimons1234 While there are quality BB's they are expensive. Most though arent, and I still wouldn't risk it with a higher grade. Since they are made to deggrade, the pressure from your nozzle could make it break. Which again with quality, its not going to be as easy, but I still wouldn't risk anything, and my CA only shoots 300. (FPS). Now again your settings may be different. But I have always been told to never use Bios. Unless its in my claymore :D.

  • @BsAirs0ft

Take for example Bioval. Some of the, if not the absolute highest quality bbs out there, and certainly up there with the most sought after. They only happen to be biodegradable.

  • Travis, I gotta thank you for giving me some ideas on how to setup my man cave

  • HaHa. Don't get your a** in trouble.

  • Many here mention Gas Blowback airsoft guns are better. They do recoil more than the normal AEGs. The Tokyo Marui Recoil Shok systems doesn't kick as much as the Gas Blow Back guns, but they do have the advantage of consistent velocities and accuracy.

Gas Blow Back guns also are affected by varying temperatures. Like here in CO, the temps are drastically different throughout the day.

Also, when you shoot Gas Blow Back guns in various unorthodox positions, the guns shoot erratically.

  • @HaleyStrategic There's also KWA, a law enforcement airsoft manufacturer, coming out with pretty much the same exact thing as these Tokyo Maruis, but more affordable.

  • @HaleyStrategic

But in my opinion, the realism just outweighs a lot of the drawbacks. Also, GBBR designs are becoming a lot better now. Back in the day, your only choice for a GBBR AR was the WA platform. But now, we got a lot more variety like WE, KJW and even KWA is entering the market. I personally run a KJW M4 and for consistency and accuracy-wise, it outperforms a lot of the stock AEGs out on the market. KWA's new LM4 looks very promising. I'll probably be getting one of those pretty soon

  • Comment removed

  • @John234pwns

Search up the KJW/Tanio Koba M4 on youtube. You'll get a lot of videos of people firing it in the cold or full auto stress tests. This thing just keeps functioning and is very consistent.

  • @T7thK Can you fire it sideways?

  • @John234pwns

Let me check... yes you can, just dumped a full mag sideways and it worked flawlessly.

  • @T7thK It could be a nice option, but it seems like the KJW is the only reliable GBBR aside from the WE G39C.

  • @John234pwns yes, but the hop up will cause the BB to curve towards the top of the gun that way. If you're in a game, it is possible to shoot around corners or over things in a downward arch by flipping the gun over or sideways

  • @HaleyStrategic You are right! That's why I like EBB's, haha!

  • @HaleyStrategic Dope video, and good points. but for the couple negatives gbbs have, they have many positives. to name a few... trigger is much closer to a real one, the guns will fire as fast as you pull the trigger, and cycle full auto at accurate rpm's to real guns (if built right). plus theres no delay froma a gearbox. They have fully accurate battery of arms, and you can do tactical reloads without losing 5 bbs each time. You can also run a heavier bb generally, giving better ballistics.

  • Wow way more respect for Hayley now. Now someone needs to mention upgrading. :P

  • Sorry, the average air softer will never convince me they are training, and trying to become more consisent, they are just trying to look cool.

  • @BudCadawIen yeah it's pretty sad how much posturing occurs amongst airsofters. it's up to the individual to determine the value of airsoft, and i think travis laid out some of the best reasons to give it a try.

  • @BudCadawIen Can the we play the sport as a form of recreation and for the sake of good times? Or is "training" the only legitimate reason the stoic "hah-speed Low-Drag" crowd will accept airsoft?

  • @BudCadawIen Dunno about you but I don't know of any ranges with living targets that will shoot back at you when it comes to real steel. For 150' feet and under you can't beat it, especially with the GBB pistols

Its all state of mind, whether you're training on paper targets or engaging in airsoft combat

  • Is this the inner sanctum of the Travis Haley man cave?

  • @NaxTactical I bet he claims it all as a business expense, too.......

  • @crash406 If he's smart , he would!

  • @NaxTactical Ohey Nax weird seeing you here!

  • @AirsoftFeRever Nah, I'm a big fan of everything Magpul, which includes (former) Travis Haley!

  • Good - now shorten this video to 30 seconds and repost for people who don't enjoy your voice so much. The information is fine.
