There is a photograph in a haunted room filled with memories that have gone too soon & as I pass by every day I say why does it make me feel this way... There is life in the setting of the sun & you know I think that it should go on but as it turns around I have to say Why does it make me feel this way.... Laughing sun & laughing moon I know they sould be & I want to be to but as it turns out I have to say Why does it make me feel this way.....
So Sad he's left the Bad Seeds. It won't be the same. As much as I like Warren and the Dirty Three I wonder whether Mick was pushed aside slightly. Anyway I've always liked his Solo stuff and will continue supporting him post Bad seeds. Big Kiss Mick
How much exactly did Mick Harvey contribute to the Bad Seeds band? Did he write or produce alot of material? Just wondering because I'm starting to like his solo stuff.
Mick was the other founding member of the band. He plays various instruments (guitar, bass guitar, keyboards, and drums), does backing vocals, string arrangements, writes and co-writes much of the music (the music itself mainly not the lyrics) especially in the earlier albums. Apparently he was also the most sober one in the early days. When he and Nick were in the Birthday Party Mick worked as the manager, producer, musical director and co-writer.
Mick's playing with The Triffids (and Friends Play the Songs of David McComb) - coming to the Arts Centre, Hamer Hall, Melbourne, 29 January 09. Its a tribute to the fine talents of David McComb from Rob and the rest of the band (Jill Birt, Martyn P Casey, Graham Lee, Alsy MacDonald). It'll include some of the original band slides and bits of Dave's poetry. Other friends are Steve Kilbey, Rob Snarski, Toby Martin, Ricki Maymi, Mark C Halstead and Melanie Oxley! Ticketmaster for tix.
This is a great version of this song. It's written by Chris Bailey from The Saints. Unfortunately I don't seem to be able to find his version on Youtube!
Mick Harvey means so much to Australian music! It's a shame most people only see him as a guitarist for Nick Cave and not the driving force he actually is.
Now that Mick has left the Bad Seeds, I hope that people will appreciate what an important member of the band he was. They will be nothing without him.
Well Nick is one of the best songwriters of at least past 20 decades..but nick cave and bad seeds is over in my opinion..first Blixa left and the Band had hard time fulfilling his empy place..and now Mick, which hes great and had a big and important role in the bad seeds...after him, i dun see any point in BADSEEDS now...
...so for the people who know(KNOW) nick cave and the bad seeds , they would know how important was Mick....if they wouldnt get it well they dunno them enough..
Mick, you are one fucken bad seed!

@blixem59: Yeah, if only Nick Cave had some kind of creative capacity.

@Spoonface370 Haha!! I wrote that comment 2 years ago, I was a little emotional at the time! Well they've both done some great stuff since then :)

@IemPappa All that, plus his work on Serge Gainsbourg covers is fabulous, I'll always love him for that.
