Not sure how I got here: I'm not a Trivium fan (not that I've heard much), but I have to reply to that 'really really sloppy' quip. If you heard an individual guitar solo 'track' from pretty much any record you could mention, the guitars would sound sloppy. There's always fret noise, string buzz, grunts and groans all over the place, no matter how 'clean' you play - it's just that all that stuff gets lost in the mix, leaving things sounding clear and precise. Healy isn't especially sloppy.

arpeggios played with sweep picking are awsome....but when you cannot control them they sound very sloppy, and thats because you cannot match both hands in the same motion.
The Crusade actually reminds me of metallica in MY opinion and it's kinda weird that not so many agrees with that it seems like... Anyway, Metallica made some of the best music ever to be written and Trivium should be proud to know that I compare The Crusade with Metallica !

@MetalMakesMeEargasm They have the ability to sound like classic metallica and do it well. Their rendition of Master of Puppets is so dead on, it's amazing. The two bands are my favorite and if asked, I couldn't choose one over the other.

James does 1 type of singing and his voice is very different. Also Matt listens to Queen and The Beatles but it doesn't mean he will sing just like them. Trivium owns, and they sound NOTHING like Metallica, nobody sounds like Trivium either.

i dont know why most of guitar players play faster than they can do it.
why is the reason to that?
arpeggios played with sweep picking are awsome....but when you cannot control them they sound very sloppy, and thats because you cannot match both hands in the same motion.

The Crusade actually reminds me of metallica in MY opinion and it's kinda weird that not so many agrees with that it seems like... Anyway, Metallica made some of the best music ever to be written and Trivium should be proud to know that I compare The Crusade with Metallica !

Well that sucked,I know I'm not one to talk but they been playing for a really long time and they should be able to do better and their tone just doesn't sound right If you want some real sweeping moves check out Ywinge Malmsteen, I know he's music is not the best bu he is a great at sweeping

@MetalMakesMeEargasm They have the ability to sound like classic metallica and do it well. Their rendition of Master of Puppets is so dead on, it's amazing. The two bands are my favorite and if asked, I couldn't choose one over the other.

@MetalMakesMeEargasm No, they definitely have a lot of Metallica influence. And the vocals were very James Hetfield-ish on The Crusade...but that in no way makes them bad. Trivium fucking rocks.

@dcaf94 His voice sounds nothing like James, Also Matt does 2 types of singing and many types of screaming- he does clean vocals and he does more rough singing were he breathes out more making it more rough, and then he does a variety of screams. James does 1 type of singing and his voice is very different. Also Matt listens to Queen and The Beatles but it doesn't mean he will sing just like them. Trivium owns, and they sound NOTHING like Metallica, nobody sounds like Trivium either.
