  • it was a test !!

  • wie dumm kann man sein ey xDDDD!!

  • What holiday was this for? We only get fly overs and fire works. I would travel much further for and airshow if they anounced "We're going to crash a Harrier into the ocean!" They could definatly increase the ticket prices for that.

  • Ejection Seats... saving your own ass first =D

  • that was the show at lowestoft wasnt it, i was there :D... im pretty sure it was lowestoft.

  • ahah he went with the plane.

  • how many times have i told our lass about riding the clutch??

  • What the fuck is he doing hovering in a warplane below 150 m and so close to a populated beach? Was he showing off? Well, his showing off cost millions of dollars in military assets. And hopefully, demotion.

  • He was not showing off, it was at an airshow, Lowersoft to be precise. Also the cost would be measured in pounds as it's a British plane, and by that I mean that the one in the vid is from the RAF

  • It least it was in the water and away from people. I'd say he did alright. A million and 1 things can go wrong with jet engines...

  • nice

  • :( .

  • EJECT EJECT EJECT!!!!!!!!!

good on you mate you survived =)

  • I Was There!!! Lowestoft

  • Watch the kid with the red hair and the kid splashing who stands up ( in the middle of the frame. ) Their reaction time is about right considering the length of time it would take the sound to travel from the plane to them. I imagine the ejection would be a pretty loud bang!

  • is this real or fake, coz ther didnt look like ther was anyfin rong wiff it

  • and that my friends, is the most ignorant statement i have ever seen

  • It's like saying 'does that man really have Cancer?, 'cause I can't see anything wrong with him'

    Idiot.

  • Weird, in the beginning nobody pays attention to the hovering airplane, it looks like people see them everyday?

  • when he ejected he landed right back on the plane, it didnt want to die alone O_o

  • lol i noticed that too...

  • How did this happen?

  • to me looks like the engine stoped. as you can see when teh carreir is hovering over the water you can see the force of the exhaust hitting the water. then you cant see the water mvoe as the plane drops.

  • the next video sees the pilot dive down into the cockpit, manages to hot wire the engine and pulls her back up and away, some fudge pucker?

  • OMG nochmal glück gehabt.

  • Thnak god the airman ejected. Holy cow the swimmers must have been stunned

  • OOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAHHHHHH

  • bye bye tax money

  • It was lowiee 2002 was flying about 50ft above the water when it fucked mazzive bang then ..well you can see that :P

Engine failed, cockpit blew off, pilot ejected. Easy. (:

'im an avn and i can tell what happened

the engine staled ' whatisthisabout.. youtubers dont tend to like smartcocks.. in your case, not so smart. :)

  • dobrze że zdążył katapultować się!

  • Terwel hij zweeft gingen alle motoren kapot.

  • i think it was al lowestoft beach at the air show a few years ago i'vr been to the past 3 air shows so is must have been b4 then x

  • Comment removed

  • im an avn and i can tell what happened

    the engine staled

  • vVv An air show maybe? hahaha

  • What are the odds of the kids being there and a camera rolling.

  • its a beach and its a jet y wouldnt u film it but what ur saying is true...

  • Amazing how many people think this is fake, look up "Harrier" in google and then be quiet.

I haven't done any research on this but it looks like the crash was caused by either

    A) The engine sucking in air and choking.

    B) Pilot error.

  • I think the engine sucked in a bikini and the pilot saw a topless woman and overthrottled! LOL!

  • Comment removed

  • Naughty Pilot :P

  • Ron Paul for commander and chief

  • how much pu5sy do u think this guy got when he swam to shore..

    yeahhh thats my plane..word

    Fvcked mad b1tches that day.

  • man.. those harrier pilots are gonna be ecstatic when they start recieving the F-35.. lol..

  • Did you notice how the new parachute lands the pilot straight back into the cockpit to have another go. Those Harrier pilots never give up easily, although most of them are actually gays.

  • No transitional lift. Classic V/STOL crash cause. Helicopter pilots see this a lot.

  • don't help that the poilt land where the plane did

  • ya i noticed that too

that water looked like it was fucking boiling

  • Where was this taken??

Cos a couple of years ago one crashed into the sea at the Lowestoft Air Show.

  • Yeah this is the one that crashed at Lowestoft.

Pilot suffered a broken wrist (cause by the landing) and was picked up by the RNLI lifeboat and the RAF Sea King that displayed before, and was taken to the James Paget Hospital in Yarmouth.

  • well that wasent an average day at the beach!

  • damn it looks like the pilot landed on the plane

  • i need one more angle, from inside the jet

  • And there goes another 30 million tax payers dollars...

  • Lol to right.

  • thats actually about 200 million

  • so sad to see sucha beutifal plane go down T.T

probably just a old thrust vectoring system footage looks a little old

  • Your life is faked. Everyone you know are actors. ;)

  • They need better electonics to control the thrusters.Old systems.

  • The harrier is to receive updated avionics and flight control systems that will essentially make the harrier easier to fly, so the pilot can concentrate on more important things like who's that on my six or what's with all that shooting going on & the most important ~ weapons delivery like JDAMs on taliban. Anyways, Discovery channel recently featured the story.

  • Its neither the U.S' or U.Ks fault that harrier went down, its just one of those freak accidents you don't see coming. I mean shit at least the ejection seat worked properly.

  • i've done that before, he needed to fire up the jets a bit

  • The americans just want to out-do other countries, they cant stand the fact that other countires have better technology then them, the USA need to make there own planes instead of making copies of other and more well known planes FUCK YOU YANKS!

  • Well, here we see a fine example of a person speaking only through hatred and with no logic. On a side note; the harrier is old technology. The latest in American VTOL design is the joint-strike fighter.

  • I hate people like you with a passion. Lets name all the imported combat aircraft the US uses. Harrier, yes, imported. F4, A6, F15 - not imported. F16, F18, F22, F35? Completely American. My point is that 90% of American service planes are guess what, AMERICAN DESIGNED! The harrier is one of those things that was just too good to pass up, and because it never really was used, It was never upgraded. So, if you hate America, do something like "UR ALL FATAZZ!" or "BUZH SUX!"
  • Addendum:

Countries use an allies technology all the time.

America has sold every kind of their own design imaginable, the F15, F14, F18, the list goes on.

It is true that America uses imported technology, but the who doesn't? If we kept all our technological innovation to ourselves the entire world would be eating their own shit right now. In WWII, the US loaned the British many corsairs, (In the agreement if they were damaged, they were not paid for), and the Brits pushed them over the deck!

  • In conclusion, can't we all just get along?

I never heard of anyone in my school being insulted for borrowing a pencil, or a sheet of paper, so whats the big deal?

  • Don't want to call you up dude, but the reason the F35 is called the 'Joint Strike Fighter' is because it's being developed by the United Kingdom, Italy, The Netherlands, Canada, Norway, Denmark, Australia and Turkey as well as the US. So it's not exactly 'Completely American'

  • as true as that is, the company who originally designed that entire aircraft i do believe was lockeheed martin which is still an american based company.

  • Get your facts straight "blurwake" - the original design was the Hawker-Siddely P1157 in 1957. When it went into service with the RAF the name became Hawker Harrier.

At that time, Lockheed and Martin-Marrietta were two separate, competing American aeronautical corporations.

  • Get off your high horse, that comment i made was directed at sparky's comment about the F-35 JSF seeing as i know who deals with the harrier the most, so chilld the hell out.

  • Well then at the very least you were off-topic, so keep YOUR off-topic drivel to yourself...

  • how about you mind your own bloody business and get the broom out your ass, i was making a comment in reference to his comment about the harrier pilots being happy to receive the F-35 which is more than likely something that will not happen, maybe you should just go back to that little rock you crawled out from under and keep to yourself.

  • Mind my own business? Who are you to tell anyone what their business is?

Over one third of your response was abusive and meaningless.. like you.

  • the 'Joint Strike Fighter' is because it's being developed by the United Kingdom, Italy, The Netherlands, Canada, Norway, Denmark, Australia and Turkey as well as the US. So it's not exactly 'Completely American'

    90 % American

and the eurofighter is at 75 % no UK :)

  • he went boom

  • he went boom

  • WhY THE PILOT FELT IN THE SAME PLACE THAT THE HARRIER??

    DID HE FORGET HIS WALLET??

  • lol :)

  • Fuck off the harrier was designed by Britain and the US bought it

  • @numetalkid44 Then we made the f-35B supersonic STOVL and reinvented STOVL.

  • @drewren1231, you did? make sure you explain yourself if you are a chief engineer on the f-35, otherwise you had as much input on the project as bin laden does.

  • @mr9396 We is a collective pronoun, in this case applied to the United States. Retard.

  • @drewren1231. it may well be a collective pronoun. but the united states does not make it, an american company does, and with technilogical support from other countries you would not of heard of. Retard.

  • @drewren1231

The Russians had it first with the Yak-36

  • lol, i hope that chair didn't hit anyone's head

  • I would worry about the plane hurting some1's head

  • lol, i hope that chair didn't hit anyone's head

  • the harrier being nearly 40 years old now since first prototype, it had lots of issues, but many benefits.

one drawback was the sudden loss of power when it overheated, and that it could only hover for about 30 seconds before that happened

  • That sure is some wicked way to go to swim....

  • What was he doing floating like that? Did anybody see a landing ground nearby? Was he peeping tom?

    LOL

  • wow. O.o -> this video is fun to watch but moreso the comments behind me! interesting bicker.

  • no, the pilot dosent sucks, YOU SUCKS ! it was a wrong on the plane , idiot ! lucky him that he ejected..

  • HaHa thatpilot sucks.

  • dude... shit happens

  • The pilot landed right on top of the jet! He may have broken bones.

  • OMG

  • Lol u see pilot he is lucky

  • Lol. Just type "air crash" here in the search and see what planes there will be, retarded swine

  • retarded swine ? ...very mature ! taking it that personal seems kinda fruity ...

  • russians don´t have to purchase "their" own crap ... it´s theirs. and keep an eye on the "ai", seems like your fingers don´t like it in that order...

  • That's what you get for trying to run a no-hands-mystery-batch while checking out the girls in skimpy bathing suites. His DNA probably short circuited the control panel.

  • i feel for that lovly aircraft :( ....oh and the pilot

  • i got this in an e-mail once

  • Lowestoft Airshow 2003. Check BBC Newsite or just Google it.

  • He shouldn't goggle at girls on the beach at work. It looks like he spied on girls in bath-houses from that height.

  • engine wasnt built properly

  • Fuck!, That would be sweet! I wanna do that, but withought getting hurt :S

  • wow. I feel sorry for you

  • sorry, nut i think that was little fun.

    (Nobody died)

  • thats what you get for showing off

  • The aircraft was a Harrier GR.7, serial ZD464, operated by the RAF. This accident happened on 2 Aug 2002 at Lowestorft Seafront Air Festival, UK. RAF pilot Flight Lieutenant Tony Cann ejected to safety and suffered a broken ankle. The cause was pilot error.

  • imagine that guy just walking out of the water and up the beach like nothing happened in full pilot gear

  • lol thats what I was thinking. Pilot: "Hey, what are you guys looking at"?

  • all i know is one The Raf pwnd usaf and the eurofighter typhoon is the best plane around

  • We dont "pwnd" anyone for your information, grow up you stupid child.

  • Very Britsh. Fucking Good One.

  • u would not reply we dont pwnd anyone, pwnd stands for powned so learn something you stupid child

  • Actually it's PAWNED and YOU, so, what now?

  • actually while that is acceptable no one uses that version at all so why dont you get over yourself.

  • Stop crying.

  • Classic pancake stall....and that egg jock just barely got out of that fucking thing in time.

  • The RAF maintains a number of Harriers, GR8s and GR9s. The FAA Sea Harriers, which were Naval Strike Fighters have been retired. The FA2 Sea Harrier was an excellent fighter. The UK operates joint squadrons now.The USMC will replace the AV-8 with the F-35.I have friends who have worked on and flown them. They are very demanding as far as maintenance and flying. They have nicknames like "Widowmaker" and "North Carolina Lawn Dart" but they are very effective for the USMC.

  • They have GR7s and GR9s mate which are the single seat A/C and they also have the T10s and T12s which are twin seat trainers, in case you were bothered.

  • The USN was given a choice of AV8s for the USMC or F14s for the USN. Pres. Reagan and Sec Nav John Lehman were able to get money for both. It was a question of funding. Both aircraft were very expensive and had political clouds around them.

  • I initially thought marines for harriers but I'm thinking now that it is different arms of the Navy that argue over what plane's best harrier vs tomcat and/or hornet or whatever. What's the truth of it ? I know whoever it is the pilots love them but they probably haven't got much longer to go I expect ? Is there still an air wing of the marines ?

  • Yes, the Marines still have aircrafts and helicopters.

You can't compare Tomcats (who are being retired now) and Hortnets with Harriers, they are totally different airplanes, for different roles. The USMC have/use a number of smaller ships, for landing operations, and there the Harrier makes sense. They also have Hornets for other use, based on the shore or (I believe) on Navy aircraft carriers.

  • ouch! that cost a few million...

  • yeah MK111supra ! - reminds me why true lies became the most expensive film ever made in 1994 They were to pay to put the plane back in order after they finished. They did so much damage that it was deemed a write off. That news came from the military along with an invoice. I think the cost was $59 million. I think their insurance was 50% so that added 30 million to the production ....oops

  • wow i did not know that but it does make sense... i bet the military was pissed

  • english pilot?? fuck u perkiomenville u yankee twat this was an accident, the raf are the best pilots to ever man planes so fuck u!!

  • looks to have landed right on top of the plane

  • cool video! glad nobody was hurt (apparently)

  • the pilot was suited for killing a whale i think...

  • Typical English pilot!!

  • Hate to break it to you kid, but the British Miltary doesn't use the Harrier any more. That plane was crashed by an American.

  • there are no Harriers in the American military. It was a bloke.

  • The USMC operates Harriers out of MCAS Yuma Az and MCAS Cherry Point, the 3rd and 2nd Marine Aircraft Wings respectively. Most of the squadrons flew the A-4 prior to becoming Harrier units. The USMC uses AV-8B+ and AV-8B Night Attack birds. They either deploy as a normal squadron or as part of a Reinforced Medium Marine Helo Squadron. The HMM rein has the various UH-1,AH-1,CH-53Es and the CH-46Es.

  • The Harrier is still used by the RAF/RN, not sure where you got your information from mate but it is inaccurate. In fact they currently have the Harrier in four flavours....the GR7 and GR9 single seat and the T10 and T12 twin trainers. Unless of course you know something I don`t and my current job is merely a figment of my imagination. Secretly I hope you are correct and in fact my real job involves me taste testing beer and occasionally scratching my balls.

  • Nice to see you kiddies getting excited over it. I hope you don't find yourself doing any charity work inbetween growing giant boners over your military knowledge...

    SNORE.

  • I`m sorry if my facts seem to bore you to the point of sleep.Perhaps your lack of interest, inability to retain information and obvious issues remaining conscious points to something more serious than just ignorant stupidity. Or in words you may understand better "Whatever Knobhead".

  • Droo you just got burned by someone smarter than you. I'd imagine that happens often.

  • i waz there !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hovered for too long, overheated thus engine failiure

  • The engine was performing perfectly but it required more go juice after the pilot inadvertently pulled back the throttle instead of his nozzles. The fact that the A/C was so low meant that the engine could not run back up sufficently fast enough to counter the forces of gravity. Fortunately, however the rockets under the pilots seat generate more than adequate thrust and are much more responsive.

  • You know your having a bad day when....

  • troppo forte il bambino ignaro di tutto che gioca con l'acqua!

  • anyone one that plays battlefield 2 has to be reminded of this video!!!! LOL

  • thats at the lowestoft beach. i was there. it happened because of pilot error. he broke his anke. lol

  • he punched out and then landed back in the plane. lol.

  • noob! :D

  • Cya 80 mil..

erhmm boss the harrior is sinken :P

    bye bye

  • this video is completely ROFLMAO

  • Owaweewa, what is happen?

  • das fucked up. it looks like he landed on it
