  • Is swamiji eating chutney :)

  • Comment removed

  • Is he mad?

  • Enlightened and wonderfully human! Living a joyful life. An inspiration.

  • RSS VHP ARE OPENELY MORE BRANDISHING KNIFE FOR SECULAR CONGRESS WHIMP TO HAVE THE GUTS TO HINDER ARREST JAIL PROSECUTE DEFANG ONLY YOU CAN SAVE YOUR SELVES SURROINDED BY ALL INIMICAL

  • Y no comía el jodío...

  • People ignorant of Sri Gurudeva's character would see this video and probably dismiss Him as a glutton. The truth lies in the context in which this video was taken: He was being His regular comic self.

Furthermore, are we to conclude that Sri Krishna was nothing but a passionate glutton because he ate butter and candy as a child? Or that Sri Ganesha is a glutton as well because he revels in Laddus?

That Sivananda "enjoyed" pickles & chutney is but an attribute of His divinity - a Lila.

  • @SivanandaGuruSeva Yes. Krishna and Ganesh are considered gluttons u idiot. This guy seems like a total fraud to me. He should be put in jail.

  • the spiritual labour of this saint is unmeasurable.all branches of yoga have grown thanks to him and his disciples.he has touched the soul of millions with his spiritual books.jai guruji!

  • It's strange when you read Swami Sivananda's books. He is so strict about living so purely yet clearly by how obese he was he was not practicing what he preached.

  • please do research on his life and then come to conclusion.

  • I have done research on his life. I watched all the videos at the Sivananda centre on him and have read several biographies. I think a lot of his teachings were great but I think he couldn't live by his own strict rules. x

  • Just because he appears to enjoy pickle and chutney you cannot conclude, that he did not stick to his rules. Once a person has god realiazation, rules are of no use to him. I don't think so there is any force on anybody to follow his strict rules. The minds of great saints are always thinking of god even when eating. Out of compassion to the ordinary peopel he has given this as rules or step by step instruction, it should be followed as per capacity of each individual.

  • He had an addiction to certain foods - I can see it just by watching him. An alcoholic can intuit another alcoholic. Likewise when addicted to food. He will probably adress it in his next life. I love all his works and pray for his coninual surrender to God.

  • @rubberritchie

because you only read and watched them not digested them

  • He is a glutton.

I heard that he ate lot of pickles.

  • wow he is showing f u ck u finger like stone cold...

  • Cool! So casual! Post more videos...

  • shaytaan

  • please upload more videos with sivanandaji!

  • When I passed the Sivananda Ashram around 8 p.m., I saw poor people sleeping outside. If his holiness Sivananda Ji was materially alive today, those poor people would have got shelter and food. Now the same institution has been occupied by dollar hungry satans. Noone is going to get emancipation by circus hatha yogic practices. Ignorant people are being duped of their money and time. Only way to liberation is Bhakti yoga. Hatha yoga is good only for beautification of the gross body. OM

  • Guruji told us to follow the 4 paths of Bhakti, Karma, Raja and Jñana Yoga at the same time. Bhakti Yoga he says is the easiest and safest path but has its risks like, for example, of become a fanatic and hating and attacking those who don't think likewise. Gurudev Swami Sivananda cared about the poor and the homeless but he considered ailing material suffering secondary to developing spiritual awareness. Om & Prem

  • you are wrong sir

  • @ajitnandakumar So he wasn't obese?

  • @indianrailways Read Hatha Yoga Pradipika, Bihar school.(Swami Satyananda, Swami Sivananda's disciple.)

  • will do if i can find time. my study wiht him has given me so much energy that i have so much i wish tod do.

  • Fantastic, Fantastic, Please post more viedo's of Sivananda - My Guru. My Guru leads me and my family. He is a great source of joy, divine knowledge to me. Video's like this are great inspirations also.

  • thanks ronald ,a millions, for posting this rare video .i follow sw paramhansa yogananda( self realization fellowship). our present head Shri shri daya mataji had once visited him in 70s.i reguklarly read his discopurses

  • i studied for many years personally with sri nerode. Yogananda lived with him when he first came to the usa.

so one day i was working with SAIL in india. the company wanted me to c the city and country side. They gave me a driver and he drove me around. all of a sudden he turned sharply down a dirt road. he stopped and motioned me to follow him. we stopped at a tree. it said, here sat yogananda for three years while teaching before he left to stay in the usa.

  • Master Sivanandaji was also a physician.

What ailed people was their spirit, so he went to teach Yoga in Rishikesh.

He gave us English Yoga books while others scorned him for writing in English and making the teachings available to Westerners.

His Birthday is 8 September. Jai Gurudev Sivanandaji Jai!

  • How fun!

That is Sri Swami Chidanandaji, his administrative successor speaking.

Uncle Chidanandaji Maharaj, such a gentleman, such a real monk, and how cute to see this footage. Thank you so much, he is my grandfather Guru.

    Jai Sivananda!

  • Namaste!

i've heard that hindus who believe in the caste system say that india has missinterpet the caste system

  • the caste system is evil

    thats what i mean

  • Swami is still guiding people .Wonderful video

  • yes. Sivananda guides me every single day. a t rue story. the current president of india went to see sivananda in his youth when failed some kind of education tests so he could not enter more advanced classes. his career was stalled. i may not have this exactly right... but sivananda said.. worry not my divine soul, one day you will lead india. well indeed today he does. the president often tells this experience to the people of india. most people in india know of sivananda.

  • Jai Gurudev Dayanidhi Deenana Hithakaari!

  • thank God he went beyond the caste sytem and loved all persons

  • what do you mean?

  • swamis who are one with God dont stress the caste system, they say all can find God thats what i mean

  • And Sivananda strongly denounced the caste system. He also did much to elevate women. He also was one of the first to bring Hatha yoga out of the caves and forests to the common householder.

  • HUMOUR, A DIVINE GIFT

"While Sivananda was proceeding to attend Satsanga, the Master had occasion to make a humorous remark. Then, commenting on humour itself generally, he said, "Humour is good, especially if it is educative and instructive humour. It is a divine gift just as music is a divine gift."

  • Sivananda is full of fun. He is a non-traditional swami. his writings have a great deal of wisdom for the true yoga seeker.

  • DYB. Yes. Sivananda was yoga adept. In his youth, he mastered hatha as a part of raja yoga. His yoga is the synthesis of all different yogas. Oh.. and he upset the traditionalists when he would jog everyday.

Today Sivananda said in a daily email send to me from Rishikesh "Spiritual life is not a light matter."

My edit; Spiritual life is not a light matter; It is a matter of divine life. Mattering in light spiriting. Seek the divine light to see your divine life.

  • From Ramana's web

"He stood before Arunacalesvara, he experienced great ecstasy and unspeakable joy. The epic journey had ended...The rest of what we regard as Ramana's life - this is how we shall call him hereafter..."

Sri Venkat. I experienced ecstasy and joy continuously for 7 months in 1974. It was a direct result of living in Sivananda's ashram and being directed by Chidananda whose voice is heard saying Mischievous on the video.

    > .Please let me know your direct experiences..

  • Oh! I am no where near the experiences. But confident that Sri Ramana and Sri Sivananda and other Great Masters will bless me to attain some progress in the spiritual path.

  • rcvenkat you wrote; We are greatly attached to Sri Ramana Maharshi."

    Sivananda wrote:

"Bhagavan Ramana Maharshi has set at naught the prattle of materialists that Self-realisation and Samadhi are things of the remote past, and that in the present age, they are impossible of achievement to man. He has shown by his lifelong Samadhi that it is still possible to realise the Supreme and live in that realisation."

Sri Rcvenkat.. Resolve this very minute to realize as did Ramanda and Sivananda.

  • Absolutely amazing.I am delighted to see this video as well as the one from DyBoulet. Not a day passes without seeing the Padapuja tape.Request you BOTH to give more of these rare jems and treasures.Venkat from Chennai.

  • rcvenkat u asked me in a private email to share my experiences

Instead of sharing my experiences.. here is sivananda's. do as he did tear away the veils one by one to divine joy. that is what i am doing. it is not easy. i have had the best week of my life... I live on fresh food. I keep GOD as close to me as possible all day. I do much pranayama. I stand on my head. I have only missed my hatha a few days a year since my youth.

to be continued in the next reply:

  • Sri Swami Sivananda was doubtlessly an adept and master of Yoga. As great as he was, he would always be as simple as a child - much like Sri Ramana Maharishi. Modesty, humility and meekness were just one of the many virtues this great man and spiritual giant. This garland of flowers he wore around his neck could never be compared to the garlands of virtues he wore around his character.

  • Beautifully said - Modesty, Humility, and Meekness - in today's world, these qualities are not recognized, rather looked at as weaknesses, our environment is not so conducive in developing these qualities in a common man.
