@CMTSOICHCSOMCFB Just before Reid leaves, he gets a good look at her, and sees her stare off as the music plays. I think that means that she's having a schizophrenic "episode", that he recognizes from his childhood with her. So he knows (from experience) that it's not a good time to talk to her, and that she shouldn't be disturbed.

Reid mentioned in 'Elephants Memory' that during an 'episode', she didn't even notice him coming home at midnight after being bullied. So, not a good time to visit.
