Realizing the obvious genre tilt, it's likely that every single one of those bassists have one influence in common, Geddy Lee. You can't make a list like this and leave him off because it's likely these guys don't exist without Lee's influence. Other than that, good list.
We get it: you're a Metallica fan. But this list proves you know precisely jack shit about bass. Half the people on this list wouldn't make a top 30 list of best bass players.
@Sitter007 Lmbo off !!! I got excited when I thought I was gonna really see some Kats ! Oh bummer it's HIS opinion....I am stil cracking up !! There is only couple of bad ass's in there. Really...but they are good.
robert truijillo was the sickest in infectious grooves! and my all time favorite bass player ( biggest inspiration of flea too ) is BOOTSY COLLINS ofcourse, of funkadellic.
When will people get it, there are, now, far more technical players than Cliff Burton. Yes, he was amazing for the day, but there are now far better! I doubt that this person creating this list has ever even picked up a bass. John Myung is better than any of these guys. Jason Newsted? I would smoke him in my sleep! I don't know why he was ever part of Metallica!
@campanaojeda I would put Claypool at #2. Plus, there are now may bassist that can run circles around Geezer. You cannot confuse influence for skill. As a bassist with 25-years behind the wheel, so to speak, I would not be where I am without Geezer. There are many that are better, but none that are as influential!
too many metallica ones, man. dream theater owns those faggots with myung, yet you put the guy there 5th... I wonder what´s wrong with people nowadays, geez
@Th3RussBus don't underestimate johnny Christ. he is young but very skillful . I think all of avenged sevenfold are the most talented band today. and they are still very young
My top 2 have always been Flea first and John Myung second, but of course is a matter of taste and of course it doesn't mean I believe they are the best out there. People stop bitching out because somebody expresses an opinion, it doesn't matter if he missed amazing bassists like Wooten, Billy Sheehan or Les Claypool
Ever heard of Victor Wooten? if there WAS a list, which there shouldn't be, then he would be on it for sure. These bassists suck compared to the gods out there. Learn your stuff before you go spewing out rock bassists.
@Leyhoooo Cause i feel insulted for playing bass if johnny would be the best one. everyone has his own style (granted that a lot of those styles suck dick) but out of all these bass players you put johnny on the top of your list, i feel like that is just disrespecting a great instrument. its my own opinion, simply cause i hate how far he got with the little talent he has. while other great bassist struggle even to make a name
@ZombieNOODLE64 Lol i dont like Johnny, i just asking why people need to thumps down because they dont agree with the list. Because if every1 do that, every list with top 7 bass players would only be disliked. And when you say other great bassist struggle to make a name, i can tell you that its not only about being a name. But to do what you want to and make it a living.
@BlackHawkNor I thought the video said no particular order at the beginning of the video? Anyways Myung is by far the top in terms of skill on that list, Cliff was epic too. of course none of them are particularly bad but they can't compete with Myung
Metallica fan !!! i listen to Metallica too but on the other hand we got Dave Ellefson (Megadeth) Rob Trujillo (Metallica) Steve Harris (Iron Maiden) Frank Bello (Anthrax) Jason Newsted (Metallicas 2nd Bassist after Cliff) Cliff Burton (Metallicas 1st Bassist With the AWESOME solos!!!) Shavo Odadjian (SOAD) Tom Araya (Slayer) The guy from Dream Theater and the bassist from Red Hot!!!
You're like some guitarrists that think that the total guitar master is Slash. I don't want to be a troll, but, just exposing my opinion about your video exposing your opinion.
the fuck?ok, they are YOUR top 7 bass players but come on.. if you knew like a few bass "masters" most of those guys wouldn't be there.. seriously. Ok, I agree, Cliff Burton has a nice technique and style, flea has also an awesome slap and harmony, and myung is just a monster; But all those others I just can't understand. AVENGED SEVENFOLD? Dude their bassist is the typical bassist that plays the song tone. Search for Victor Wooten, Jaco Pastorius and Marcus Miller, some names u should chec
@theinmortal6 oh yeah!? well, i dont see you in a band thats known by millions of people around the world. so, your not one to judge. i bet you cant do any better.
@shaquan9893 What a piece of shit as an argument. Do you play in a well-known band? So, you can´t judge either. He´s awful, there´s thousands of better bassists. Jaco Pastorius, Victor Wooten, Geddy Lee, Geezer Butler, for example. In fact, I consider Avenged Sevenfold shit, but the worst musician there is, BY FAR, the bassist.
pretty sure no one on this list could even come close to being able to play john myung's bass lines.....(except myung of course). this was clearly made by a metallica fan boy.
its clear to me that you think a bass its for monkeys (trujillo), where is wooten, sheehan??? damn consider a hara kiri cock knocker. In what fucking universe trujillo´s better than myung :S
The best bass players out there are in bands that you and me dont listen to on a reg basis - if at all.
One or two good sounding rock riffs or playing as fast as possible dont make them good guitarists. Jazz / fusion / even classical have the most skilled bass muscians - check them out.
"Cliff" , "flea", "and most rock band bass players are simply creations of a marketing team and have no real musical talent.
