I used to not like metal, but with the new prog/metal fusion, count me in! I'll probably be the oldest guy at their show. One suggestion, though...

Replace thin sounding synths with full-bodied samples of Hammond, Mellotron and MiniMoog. Then it would be perfect!

I agree. Hammonds add so much more depth to heavy sound. They have made some measurable comeback, though, but not to the level I would like to see. Synths make this otherwise very good music unnatural. There are good sounds on workstations, or you can sample some really rich sounds. Outside more famous bands, best sounding dominating keys can be heard on SBB 3, SBB-Follow My Dream, or Collegium Musicum-Konvergencia (Marian Varga). Amazing, super aggressive sound generated in 70's, missing today

I am sick of everyone bringing DT up as if they were the pinnacle of progrock. Personally, I can't stand them, with exception of IAW with Kevin Moore and to some degree with Derek Sherinian. After that, it all deteriorated into constant barrage of thousands notes per second without no meaning to it. To maintain objectivity, I love their solo or collaboration projects where they actually calm down and start playing real music. Otherwise, not worth of listening anymore.

The only "complaint" I have with Andromeda is the focus on the guitar. It seems to me that the bass is lacking some severely needed attention. I mean, look at the stage presence, it could just be the venue, but it seems all centered around Johan.

Oh I guess there is a crowd. Dull group though, not even standing up and getting into it or anything. Of course there's only like 100 people there from the looks of it. I expected a much more involved (and larger) crowd for this great band.

Is there even a crowd? And I agree, vocal focus is dull. Nobody cares about seeing someone sing when you have fabulous musicians surrounding him. Also, he isn't even that good. I mean he's good, but he's not phenominal. I think he makes the band seem a lot more poppy than Mackrory did. When they had Mackrory they were like punch your face in metal and now Chimera is like prog pop metal. Should be a pretty good DVD though.

THe focus on vocals isn't necessarily bad, as the singer is REALLY GOOD :D First time I hear them, so I don't know how the rest of their stuff is, though. Probably good, though :)
