i just upgraded from my u740 to a nexus s. i never had a problem with the hinge durability, the lock button was usless as it would activate and deactivate in my pocket/case all the time as it only needs to be pressed for half a second, the keyboard was great, i actually miss the tactile keys, i find i make more errors with the touchscreen even though the keys are bigger. the bell canada version wouldnt let you browse in landscape mode to make use of the full keyboard
I have the bell version of this phone for the past 4 years now and it has been in my lake three times now (once for 24 hours/under 20 feet), its been dropped in a bucket of used motor oil twice, i ran it over with my gmc canyon on a gravel road once and i drop it all the time and all that happens is the battery falls out.
Overall the one i have is an awesome phone and has never let me down and if this one dies (if it ever dies) i will replace it with another U740

When you are in clamshell mode, and youve finished entering the number you want to send a text message to, you can just close the phone and flip it to landscape mode without having to go through the same process over again. although i find this ridiculous because is it REALLY that hard to look at something SIDEWAYS?!?!?! anyways, i hope this helps all of you guys who are having trouble, like this guy said.
you're complaining that the numbers aren't oriented when you change the physical screen orientations. Buttons are physically imprinted, they will not rotate unless they can digitally orient themselves, otherwise you are asking for a much larger phone that uses larger buttons for both orientations. I don't mean to be critical, but please do not critique a phone if you aren't going to give a fair review.

I had the lg rumor and thats a stupid concept, I killed that phone and found the samsung u740 its way better for use, it will never power alone because the keys are protected. And I have all the same functions. Its different with Bell mobility, not like verizon...

honestly this phone is much better than the dare when it comes to texting. I've had both phones over the past 3 years and even with my "sausage fingers" i found texting on the alias easier than with the dare. After you use the alias for a while you start to adjust automatically to the size of the keys. I've had the dare since january and I still haven't been able to adjust to it's texting format.
I actually used to have this phone and I miss it. I now have the LG Dare and I can't stand it. I have bigger fingers, but I got used to the u740's keypad after using it a little while. I was able to type much faster with this phone than I can with the dare.

still have the phone, its has a few drawbacks, but texting is a breeze lol. my only big complaint is not being able 2 access the internet while in landscape mode. jus wonderin tho, is it possible 2 upgrade the firmware or system so u can use the internet in landscape mode? This is the worst phone ever, i have gone though 6 of them. You have to treat this phone like a baby, you can't drop it, or anything, other wise something always gets messed up. Also, they don't make cases for this phone so it gets many many scratches. I HIGHLY do not recomend this phone for ANYONE.
i have this phone, and i drop it about 3 times a day on my linoleum floor in my kitchen, and there is not a single scratch on it. Also, i have a clear cover for the phone that protects it very well (I have it off for now because i don't like phone covers) so idk where ur getting ur facts from....

Great phone. easier to text on than the guy explains. only downside is after about a year of having it, the buttons will start making marks on the screen from opening and closing it. i cannot get these marks off.
i have the u740 and send roughly 10,000 text messages a month. this phone is GREAT for texting.. the only thing i dont like is that, like shown here, you get message errors a lot in typing. but it really isn't that bad. If i were you, id get this phone. But if you were going to get the voyager, as cool as it looks, it really isn't a good choice. The buttons on the touch screen are HARD to press.

still have the phone, its has a few drawbacks, but texting is a breeze lol. my only big complaint is not being able 2 access the internet while in landscape mode. jus wonderin tho, is it possible 2 upgrade the firmware or system so u can use the internet in landscape mode? (im wit bell so its not the same format as verison)

This is the worst phone ever, i have gone though 6 of them. You have to treat this phone like a baby, you can't drop it, or anything, other wise something always gets messed up. Also, they don't make cases for this phone so it gets many many scratches. I HIGHLY do not recomend this phone for ANYONE.

i have this phone, and i drop it about 3 times a day on my linoleum floor in my kitchen, and there is not a single scratch on it. Also, i have a clear cover for the phone that protects it very well (I have it off for now because i don't like phone covers) so idk where ur getting ur facts from....

i have this exact phone.
Great phone. easier to text on than the guy explains. only downside is after about a year of having it, the buttons will start making marks on the screen from opening and closing it. i cannot get these marks off.

i have the u740 and send roughly 10,000 text messages a month. this phone is GREAT for texting.. the only thing i dont like is that, like shown here, you get message errors a lot in typing. but it really isn't that bad. If i were you, id get this phone. But if you were going to get the voyager, as cool as it looks, it really isn't a good choice. The buttons on the touch screen are HARD to press.

I have had that phone since may 07', it has been perfect and I have beefy thumbs but don't have a problem.i am waiting for more phones that double hinge the exact way as this one.And I am trying to wait for the roll out of LTE, might end up with an EVDO/LTE hybrid.

im in the same boat as you, my razer's screen is shorting out constantly. i need a new phone. but if i had to say for reliabillity purposes, go with the phone in the video. dont go with any rokr type phones if you dont like the sliding screen to short out. my younger brother has one, dont get them.

i loved this phone , very comfortable and ez, i just bought a rumour and im kind of displeased with the camera , the pictures are poor and it has no flash , the samsung u740's camera is amazing and it takes crisp bright pictures . If your looking for a good camera, and ez texting . choose this phone :D

I have this phone. Texting is easy...and if you don't like the keyboard layout, just open it normally and you can use the numbers like a normal phone.
That aside, I'm thinking of getting a Voyager...cuz I've had this phone for about a year now and it's pretty beat.

Its actually xtremely ez 2 txt msg on and i'm a HUGE fan of txting. I send about 5,000 txts a month. Also i LUV the duo flip. And the hinge is actually a LOT stronger than i thought it wud b. And the buttons on the fone r nicely arranged and rlly rlly ez 2 press.
It has a gr8 camera/ camcorder 2. <3

And i hate to text on that phone so I need the phone, so my parents will buy me that phone, but my dad is so cheap that he gets EVERYTHING off of ebay so I want something that isnt off of it. I agree with you man, either that or when your in landscape mode composing a text or email message, just tilt the phone up and put in the number. It's not like your dialing across the world - 10 numbers shouldn't be hard unless your retarted. And texting in landscape, to put in the number, turn it to portrait while leaving the screen out! But this phone is one of the best phones i have ever owned...I got mine through Bell Aliant...It's blue, I love it!
