I'm playing Audrey in my schools production, and I've been searching youtube to get the feel of the way others have been playing her so I can build off of what I see, and every person I've seen I've thought looked unprofessional and cheesy, but you're the first one I've seen that I have sincerely thought was great! Actually, you got it right. The Audrey character is "challenged" - a product of skid row - she's somewhere between timid and sexually abused, with dreams of a life like a tv housewife. She dreams of dusting, ironing and a perfect married life, far from her current plight. Her character is dim, but optimistic and lovable. Ellen Green sang to reflect the part of the character - not herself. I thought she was great for the part.
She has an awesome vocal instrument and is very attractive. Her pacing is rushed, and she needs to work on delivering a comedic performance. I love her voice, though. Its spell-binding.
I think she'd better singing "Part of Your World" from The Little Mermaid. Just my opinion. Not saying she is awful, just not an Ellen Greene. I can't get past that woman. She is Audrey.
