  • Thanks to EU regulations, cheap heating oil is no more allowed. You must use fully taxed diesel fuel in your towing truck and in the boat engine.

  • ma rifattela nova sai che bucio de culo x metterla in moto cosi... te vie' un bicipite de swarsnegger hahahahahaha sto a ride troppo

  • after the 3 time of it not starting i would have checked to make sure it was getting fuel

  • country sucks

  • get some sniff down it

  • what's the name of the song that's playing in the beginning?

  • That would be big fun out to sea with a wind taking you where you don't wanna go.

  • pos

  • this old guy is genius....

i bet hes started that engine over so many years, more times ... than any of you, with your new cars...

    crazy diesel...

  • aint smart to keep your thumbs around the crank cuzz if it kicks back then your thumb is broken!

  • not a Cummins

  • fuck that ! i`d go break out the beers LOL!

  • GO TO THE BAR AND GET SOME BEERS!

  • first time I had to go through that that boat would get a hole in the bottom, just my opinion on something that hard to start

  • @MF11283

Put that engine on a generator and give it to someone you dont like.

Put a kubota engine in with glow plugs and never lift the engine hatch again

  • water oil separator might help....

cute alternative to the electric glow plug tho (o_0)

  • you need to make sure you have diesel to the injecter before trying to start . also it will help if you oil the primer on top of the rocker cover .

  • Dude go have thread adaptor made on a lathe and stick a mercedes diesel glow plug on that engine , get over that gigarette thing or whatever that is it will start everytime even on subcero temp. garanteed .............

  • Those things contain a stong oxidizer (saltpeter).

  • what things???

  • the starter "cigarette"

  • oooooooooooooo.....salt peter can be used for smoke bombs. thanks

  • nice chevy, i love seeing american trucks over in europe

  • I couldn't hear injector creak at all, even after they bled the injector pipe. I'd suggest that with these engines, you slacken the injector pipe and bar the engine round until the fuel spurts to ensure there is fuel, before attempting to start. It saves ALOT of wasted energy!

  • give it a squirt of starting fluid lol

  • thats the worst thing you could do for it thats like heroin for diesel engines they become addicted to that and eventually they wont start at all without it and then eventually they wont even start with it there shagged then

  • yea, its weird how they have a personality isnt it. its like snowmobile operators that give it gas when it starts, it will never start without the throttle open againl.

  • I think its because easystart causes damage to the piston crown and rings, causing a loss of compression, meaning you have to use the stuff everytime to start it

  • sorry i don't speak swedish! (dutch is my language!) german is also possible , but swedish... sorry! (LOL)

    now y understand youre comment!(LOL)

    grt Bugsier 5

  • you're not supost to ligt the start cigarette!, it will self ignite!

  • He is only doing it to show how it works

    bugsier5

  • wat,y can see is he's lighting the sefligniter an then put it burning in the cilinder !

and that's not the way to do it!

(y know it wasn't the problem (air in feul system was) a Sabb is a very relyable diesel! (father has one in his sailing boat)

(y'm a tug captain and diesel specialist , that's why the comment .)

  • ok sorry then "bugsier5" but you have totally wrong...if you understood swedish you would know it´s just for showing...this old man knows pretty well how to start the engine buddy so i refer to my first reply to you so please read that one again and please watch the video properly.he does it to show how it works when put in engine!!!!got it this time?

  • My Dad used to have one of these engines on the family boat. Great teaching tool for mechanics. If you've got fuel & compression, it will run. It was only hard to start at the beginning of the season after sitting thru the winter. The starting Cigarettes REALLY confused the Army/Customs guys when they searched the boat.

  • make or get a glow plug!

  • man it would suck real bad if it stalled on you LOL

  • Please! Use oars!

  • Mate, I'll let you in on a secret. There's a few companies in the USA that make outboard motors, a 10hp Merc or Evinrude is around $1200. Turn a key, away you go!! Although, I must admit, the nostalgia thing is great, I know a man who ran one of these and it was a refreshing change from a squealing, stinking two-stroke!

  • With all that cranking, if it were in gear you could have been across the harbor by now! :)

  • @Stellwagen I was going to say, take out the engine and just crank the sucker out!

  • There is too mutch that stuff inside the sylinder.

  • BUY A PAIR OF OARS!

  • Probably less work, ha ha.

  • wow start cigarette? never heard of that before! ^^

  • yea, that white thing does look like some sorta glow plug used to heat the fuel in the combustion chamber as diesel is harder to ignite than gasoline.

  • thats interesting... what exactly is a start cigarette? and where does the debris from that go. it dosnt damage the engine? Thats actually what i thought when i first saw it was a ciggarette butt, with lipstick on it lol, but i assume its diesel fuel or something right?

  • what's that white thing he puts on the glow plug??

  • Glow plug? This engine don´t have any glow plug, the white thing is a start cigarette, the compression heat set fire on the cigarette which help the fuel to ignite.

  • @Jobergg Thats what a glow plug is >.>

  • normally you don't lite these plugs!, the wil ignite by themselves!!!, thats youre problem bij difficuld starting, just put it in and it wil start emediatly!!!!!!, beleve me i'm an expert at these engine's!!!

  • That was exactly what we do, we did not lite they up.

The problem was air in the fuel line.

  • yes, sorry y saw it later!, theré good diesels Sab!

don't you have an electric starter on it?

  • Engine has no alternator and battery (yet) but we have the starter...

  • ouwe meuk...

  • Rolf..... XD

  • weird glow plug, LOL looks like a cigarette butt

  • its ancient lol

  • You could have swam out and caught the fish with youre teeth dude.

  • get a 10hp bukh much easier boy what a lot of mucking around

  • whats the name of that song? i like itt :)

  • the song is Up in smoke i believe...a cheech and chong deal i think. and coincidentally i have an 1987 caprice. great frigin car. doesnt burn a drop of oil. original front end mostly. body has been oil sprayed to the hilt...love it. when it dies i will cry. lol. had another one with about 310 000kms on it and it's still running somewhere on the roads here...

  • Hank Williams III - Up In Smoke

  • cool

It wasn't that hard to start when they finally bled it!

a diesel of that age that has air in injection pump/lines IS hard to start!

  • that was certanley hard to start!

  • Cool vid! I'm right handed, so I think I would have a harder time doing that. What the heck was the sound at 1:44? A bird?

  • A seagull i think.

  • hi,

thanks for telling me the comment disappeard... I was actually wondering what is the white thing you put in the cylinder and that dissapears when you try to fire up that diesel...

I also figured out that swedish has some things in common with Icelandic... I may be mistaken, but I think I heard something like "herðu" !

  • The white thing is a start cigarette, this is instead for glowplugs. Then the compression heat set fire on the cigarette.

Sweden, Norway, Denmark have almost the same language and Iceland maybe have som word that are the same in Swedish!

  • Thanks for the explanation !

And if Denmark and Sweden have a close language, it is close to icelandic... I can't understand the spoken danish, but I can read it, it's very close to Icelandic !
