The upper classmen are just doing their job. Yes SIR!! or No SIR!! to everything. Then they go back and laugh at how scared they made some plebes. Yawn.......
This was the most fun out of everything there! Our squad got dropped at least 12 times and it was awesome! Our squad leader made a girl in Alpha cry haha. Can't wait for Plebe Summer!
This video worried me before I went to the summer seminar, but it really wasn't bad. The instructors really picked on this kid though- most people (at least those around me) had 2-3 instructors come up to them individually for like 2 minutes or so each,(inevitably ending in some sort of physical task) but the whole experience lasts 30 minutes and then they act like nothing ever happened. I will say though my instructor took some frustration out on people who annoyed her during this haha.
@Samariyu Lol Plebe Summer isn't bad at all. Everything only gets easier. 1st set detailers are locked on, 2nd set detailer's are nervous and terrible at drill, then come the academic year it's easier especially if you're in a varsity sport.
i smiled during the indoc cuz i thought it was fun. then they started telling me jokes to get me to laugh and when i did they made me do PT, no big deal at all if you laugh
@Jocol85 HAHAHAHAHA I was in bravo so I didn't get to see that, but one of my friends told me about it. Didn't that guy actually fess up in front of the whole entire company?
@Jocol85 Haha No we didn't get that. We got a lecture about some dumbass who wiped shit all over the bathroom walls. Haha come to find out, they just said that to scare us right before indoc.
what happens if i cant keep a straight face. or i jus laugh. because i think thats going to happen x.x im so doomed. lol. session 3 in a few more dayssss! =D
@MaggieMui you probably wont be laughing. you will just have finished sea trials which will probably be hard for you b.c you probably cant PT to save your life. get ready.
@playitshorty42 well, when I did it there was one guy who just stared at me, to see if my eyes were moving, and I had some trouble keeping from laughing there. I don't know why, it was just funny to have this guy staring into your soul.
@kasula17 Word of advice to all candidates, do not waste your time trying to memorize reef points beforehand. Only know the general orders of the sentry and the mission.
@kasula17 Yeah, like whoistheman14, it's realy good to know those beforehand. I didn't know the ranks, and by indoc I only partly knew them, so I got one wrong under the pressure. Which sucks, I can't even lie to you.
question for anyone attending seminar 2010: did u also get invited to a visit weekend either one or two weeks from now? involving shadowing a midshipman and whatnot
I dont understand why this kid isnt laughing. I remember the same exact situation and having to respond to their hilarious comments with a straight face, but this is straight up hilarious!! I would have been cracking up!!
Does anyone have something to tell me ? Im going to the ss this year 2010.. any secrets? lol... I would like to do well... and so I would like to know what's very important to know... please rely only to make good comments.... NOT SILLY ONES....
Hey...im goin to the one in 2010 too....probably somethin important is just not to piss anyone off...lol...not tryin to be a smartass..but thats probably a key thing....
uhh just make sure you're in good shape. You'll take the CVW while you're there and you really want to do well on it. Doing well will get you noticed by the admissions board even before you've actually applied. Good luck!!
God, great memories, this was honestly my favorite part of the 2 weeks (I went to usma sls the week before). NAPS next year, class of 2015 here I come.
hahaha i applied for the NASS i didnt know they did inspections i'm a 1st Lt. in MCJROTC and the platoon commander so i cant wait for inspections haha do they acctually treat you like midshipmen or more like regular kids?
haha, o god i remember going through NASS 2009 first session.... jesus. Hated it. Just got accepted NROTC and imho its a better option if you prefer a normal college life without all unnecessary hazing that the service academies give.
Man. Bearing. Only because I'm in CAP can I stare at the cracking pain job of the baracks at Camp Murray (for an 1.5) and be entertained while being yelled at by a
1st. Sgt. Except the fact that the the shape of the building is still engraved in my mind. Even the paint color; off-white with a hint of grey and dirt. Good times, good times. That will serve me well if I get into the academy! ;)
It is a program for rising high school Seniors where you spend a week going through a scaled down version of the Academy. You will learn a lot and have a lot of fun and figure out if the Academy is for you.
Go to the recruiter and have them hook you up with a BG (Blue and Gold) Officer. They're like your best friend if your going for the Naval Academy. Basically their job is to help you with the App. process, and they'll help you get into the summer seminar.
