Hey man! i was thinking of purchasing some SD SA 12's and i was thinking would my 01 honda accord with like a 80-90amp alternator be able to handle it? im starting to get into subs but i want an expert opinion that knows sundown well! thanks alot
@mypeepeegowee That depends on how many 12's. I wouldn't do more than 2 on that alternator, and I'd recommend upgrading the battery under the hood to a top notch one also.
@ibanender It would be one sub, yeah i know two will be overkill for my alternator, but like i was planning to have the sa12 run at600-750watts so i leave a little bit of room for alternator to breathe. Also you say the battery to a top notch one, i got cha, but what about the big three? All i wish is to have minimal parts changed out for my system.
@mypeepeegowee For that power you're alright, but I'd upgrade the battery for sure. Stock Honda battery doesn't do much. I'd do the wire upgrades for sure, I'd do that even keeping the same battery.
@ibanender Oh alright...i need to calculate how much money will i have to throw..and its looking like more than 500$ It's a big leap because i came into lthis scene with a budget build but not a crappy one also.
@mypeepeegowee Also, I'm a Sundown dealer if you haven't gotten the sub yet, or amp for that matter. I've got SA's and SAX-1200d's on sale for October.
@ibanender thanks i will keep that in mind for now. Im trying to figure out what enclosures to purchase and will it fit in my trunk. And how will i mount the amps etc. lol so much work :(
@mypeepeegowee That's easy. I have some used XS Power D2700's for $150 each plus shipping and packaging too. You really need to custom build a box, not a prefab for those subs.
I dont know anything about audio systems, im 15 and im turning 16 soon so i want to get a rediculous system for my car, i need to know the price range for a 10,000 watt , 20k watts and 30kw
@mw2Glitching360 You're looking around $6000-7000 in amps, subs, mids, batteries, wire, and alternators. That's for a true 10,000 watt system. Then you still have installation materials. You'll end up with another $1000 in materials. So if you do the install yourself, you're in for $8000. Pay somebody to do it, you're over $10,000. Wanna go all the way to 20k or 30k watts, you're talkin $15-25k.
@Jayrod4113 I was there when Mythbusters filmed that, even in the footage. That was the ONE time nobody broke their windshields. When they did their car they did it very wrong, especially in choice of vehicle. Sunroof fail!
@Jayrod4113 I was there when Mythbusters filmed that, even in the footage. That was the ONE time nobody broke their windshields. When they did their car they did it very wrong, especially in choice of vehicle. Sunroof fail!

@Joshumsnukka Well in order to talk about how easy it is to do a 160, you must be doing it yourself, right? So what is it that you do a 160 with? Also, see other vids of it playing music.
@ibanender right now i have 2 fi 10 btl running on about 11000 watts doing 148s (average) in flyweight divison. but i have a few friends that are doing 160 playing music.
@Joshumsnukka So what you're saying is, doing 160's is easy when you yourself can't do it? Should I also point out I can do what you do, with a single 8 and 1700 watts? Or since you think CRX's are magical, how about a guy with 2 10" BTL's and 4000 watts who does 151's on music, average, in a BMW 3 series? I have friends doing 160's on music too, that doesn't make it easy, and the fact that you yourself can't do it, you have no room to say if anything is easy unless you're doing it.
@ibanender It's only easy if you have enough money to throw at it, but its not easy to do if you're a regular person workin your ass off and doin this in your spare time. Not to mention trying to do as much as you can with as little as possible. Honestly the 160+ mark isn't easy for the average person. I don't think most people understand that it gets exponentially harder to get louder, the further you go.
@ibanender I wouldn't saying doing 160's is hard its just pretty much all about the money really. My 2 Comp 12's did 144.5 on music on 400's watts, I know that doesn't sound to impressive but for the setup is was even the guys down at the local car audio shop were stunned and they said they haven't seen anyone break 140's under 1000 watts, but what i guess im trying to say is if you have the money to do it, it can easily be done, Its pretty much all about the box.
@KaRmZDA Really? 140's is easy. If you see my other videos you'll see doing over 150 with a single $135 8". I'd like to know what meter you did it on.
If it's all about the box, money has nothing to do with it. Steve Meade has 4 18's and 40,000 watts and doesn't do a 160. 15 dB difference may not seem like much to you, but I'm betting you've never heard a 150. Every 3 dB is twice as hard to get. If you do the math on that, a 160 is 96 times more difficult to achieve than what you have.
@ibanender hey now....i agree with you on some things here bro - but i have 30,000 total watts WITH mids/highs included. A 160 is no walk in the park.......anyone who says it is has NO IDEA.
@meade916 It's easy for the arm-chair experts who have never done it, or a 150 usually. Midget Mr. T's on Freemont Street FTW (yeah, you don't realize you know me).
@Joshumsnukka 148? 11000 watts? thats weak right there even for two 8s on that kind of power. you have no clue what it takes to do a 160. ill roll up next to you at a red light and you'll forget that your 148 was even turned on.
@bartholomeus420 I was at the filming of the episode you're talking about, I was actually in the footage. That was the one year nobody broke a windshield in several years.
@ibanender thats cool man. That episode pissed me off. They didnt even use subs or amps and tried to bust the myth because they couldnt bust a winshield! Did you try to tell them they were doing it all wrong?
@ibanender For sure, You cant let them get away with thinking subwoofers dont have the power to do that. How many Night Shades you runnin? How much power? I never even broke 150. best I ever did was a 148.7 from BTL 15 and it wasnt even sealed up. Your shit is just insane though!
@bartholomeus420 I'm running 0 Nightshades. That is my friends truck and it's got 12 SA12's with 6 SAZ-2500d's. In my car (seen in other videos on my channel) I've done 148.9 on the dash and 152.2 in the kick with a single SA8. There is a recent video posted of a Jeep doing 153.5 with a single SA15 on the dash on youtube also.
@bartholomeus420 it would have worked if they put a sleve to keep the motor straight. that is why it failed. no spider. i say failed. they did do a 160 legal @ 16 hz. the closest ive seen to that is rowland doing a 160 sb run for 30 sec @ 27 hz.
@mario6279 TV lied. Look closely just before it shatters, you can see his head move inside, and you see the meter. There are other videos out there as well of doing 160+ with people in them. Look for any video as a run from Bass Boxing or Bass Race, rules state they must be in the vehicle.
@mario6279 dude, your trippin 160 wont kill you. i hold the usaci street beat 4 world record in my daily driver. i roll around banging 160 @ 46 hz all day long.
