Caravaggio was the "punk rock" painter of his time ,tearing up the rennaisance rule book and contradicting all conventional art , bowls of fruit in a life and death story , making a god figure into an unhealthy human , clothing jesus in contemporay clothing and keeping him in the shadows , I think only Rembrandt and Jacques Lous -David are his absolute equal as painters.
The only words that can describe Caravaggio's work are beautiful, painful salvation. What captivates me most is how his paintings use the most vile things like blood, decapitation, dirt, etc to show a glimmer of the hope of redemption. His work embodies the definition of the baroque, just awe inspiring; the best ever! I love him.....
Caravaggio was a painting assassin, on the run from killing a high up member of the templer organization. I've been play way too much assassins creed 0_0
But still, Ubisoft should consider it. It would make an awesome addition.
@AIMANALI sorry no... : (((( my friend joey plays it all the time but of course hes an ass hole and wont tell me what its called. damn kids lol ill reply as soon as i ifnd out. : )
And FYI, I don't give a rat's ass who Andrew Garfield is...or Bambi (if that's a dudes pet name you people are more crazy than I thought)...here's why i watched it...I became interested in this when I watched it in Art History...his use of culture shocking ideas just interested me...there are other paintings that i like too...like the Garden of Earthly Delights by Bosch....and the documenter's voice makes me chuckle a little
"Caravaggio's fate was sealed when in 1606 he killed a man in a duel. He fled to Naples where he attempted to paint his way out of trouble, he became a Knight, but was then imprisoned in Malta and then finally he moved to Sicily. He was pardoned for murder in 1610, but he died of a fever attempting to return to Rome." (where did this information come from? I have to have citations for a paper.)
8:31 should just be classified as porn. I seriously started watching this because I am interested in art, but the whole Andrew Garfield thing just made it a bit better for me.
@punchdintheface Some of us are actually learning from the program. At least I am. Sure, I came for Andrew Garfield, but I stayed and watched the rest because I thought it was really interesting. I can't vouch for others, though. I'm not making this comment to be bitchy. I just don't want you to, like, lose faith in humanity.
impatient little Bambi. The Painter probably stared too long at Jesse before he picked up his brush. (I assume Andrew now has that painting hanging in his room, he has yet to explain the red-brown smudges.)
he painted the girly new spider man guy!!!!

Did anyone happen to notice that the image of Caravaggio's "Basket of Fruit" is shown in the wrong horizontal orientation? Amazing program though.
