theres a ban on gay marriage when did this happen? the green party are the only party commited to gay marrige? someone is telling a half truths tisk tisk peter tatchell, first of all the main party's bar the ulster party's support gay marriage, second yes gay marriage is not allowed but there has never been legislation passed the house of commons or lords thats bans gay marriage. (id just like to point out i support gay marriage and rights ect)

Tatchell does not like anything that is exclusive. He does not like the fact that marriage is only for heterosexuals and civil partnerships are only for queer people. However there is a problem with his view - in that its is "only" good for people who see things his way. His view is just as exclusive as the exclusivity he despises.

I don't see what's wrong with it the way it is. That is, marriage being for heterosexual couples and a civil partnership is for homosexual couples. Why would I as a heterosexual person want to be in a civil partnership with someone of the opposite sex as opposed to a marriage?

To put it simpler: What is the difference between a civil partnership and a marriage?
