  • Love these posts. You realize that the pacifist and objector end up the greatest Military heroes to their fellow soldiers and themselves... when the cards are down and time for real acton. York, Desmond T Doss, and Audie Murphy who when you saw him thought he could not fight his way out of a wet paper sack. 19 years old when he was awarded his CMH.

  • It was too bad York was lied to about fighting for freedom, Most americans knew nothing about what was going on in Europe and what the jews were trying to do there, Killing the rulers of eastern countries was one thing on their agenda, too bad York did nothing to save their freedoms

  • @germanysjim You're an asshole. Jews fought FOR GERMANY in WW1 and then were nothing but scapegoats for Hitler and later for Stalin after the war and now for leftists, commies, nazis and islamists and other turds like you now.

Limpdicks like you blame everything YOU FUCK UP on the "da joos".

Why don't you you crawl back under the rock you came out of. Too bad you weren't there in Germany when my father got there towards the end of the war, he killed enough Nazis, too bad he missed you.

  • @jpeditor oh I see, then the bankers, the movie moguls, the entertainment industrys, the newspaper owners, just looked like jewss?

  • Henry Lincoln Johnson was a brave hero too but nobody knows about him.

  • ☺ Alvin C York is pretty cool!!!

  • I know Hitler was a Simple little Corporal in WWI ....but not a Major Target...SGT YORK would have not have marched on looking for Hitler himself. Unlike Every Soldier in WWII serving in Europe who knew his face and would have loved to have been the One to have Blown his brains out . My reply was about the original poster who implied that SGT York should have specifically continued on to kill Hitler himself. SGT York had no reason to Hunt down the Little Corporal and Kill him in WWI

  • Dear person who thinks they know everything, but is just another youBOOB. I am referring to Hitler's heroic service for Germany in the trenches themselves. He was in the War, So, technically, he may have had a shot at Hitler. Hitler won an Iron Cross. He also began to exhibit his uncanny ability to get out of trouble. He was in a trench with about 7 other guys eating, all at once he felt he "had to get out"&quickly ran away, Seconds later the trench was blown to bits, everybody dead. Devils luck

  • If you click around, you can read York's diary on-line; he was a thoroughly decent and thoughtful man.

  • and a very humble man

  • thank you for all your positve comments

  • I love this brave soldier. I love the movie "Sgt. York" with Gary Cooper. Excellent! One of the few historically correct and Christian movies on the market. You can get it at Best Buy.

  • This is an AMERICAN HERO...

he really was a GOOD MAN

    who loved his COUNTRY

and fought for ALL OF US...

  • This man is the very vision of Americans. His values and beliefs are a credit to this nation. I'm proud to call him one of my countrymen.

  • what a shot! he shoulda kept shooting all the way back to Germany and got Hitler. Oh well, if he did, we wouldn't have the History or Miltary channel. ;)

  • @btwall60

Get your wars Straight Fool. Hitler was WWII nor WW I

  • @jpstodwftexas from texas hey, well we all know about the school system there. Hitler was a runner on the battle field in WW I. Probably not where this guy had a chance to shoot, the concept is valid.

  • @jpstodwftexas Get YOUR wars Straight Fool. Hitler was a runner, a corporal, in WWI, and we all know what he did later on in WWII.

  • @cosmicgorilla113

    thanks for the backup.

  • @jpstodwftexas

Hitler served as a Corporal in WW ONE, jESUS, don't you guys watch the Military channel? WTF is all your problems. you all seem so SMART but your all a bunch of fucking dummies. eat me.

  • @btwall60 Uh, Hitler wasn't running Germany in the First War; Germany was ruled by an Emperor.

  • Small time. Alvin York killed 25 men. The Medal of Honor was harder to get in WW2. John Basilone had to hold up and kill about 3000 men. That is 120 times the number killed by Alvin York. Think of it. For each man Alvin York killed, Basilone got 120.

  • @SugarTomAppleRoger Please don't try to marginalize or degrade the bravery of Sgt. York with numbers. You don't mention the hundreds of American soldiers that were cut down by the machine guns that York faced, and silenced. Nor do you give credit for his savvy in capturing so many, and bringing them back alive for interrogation. There was no finer soldier, then or now.

  • hero

  • that dude straight up went beast mode

  • this man is a true American hero he and many others who served in the "Great War" should be credited with more than they are now as you may know when America entered this war our doughboys made a difference in ending the war sooner rather than later. trench warfare wasn't very pretty and attributed to allot of great brave souls dying. lets not forget the great hero's of this war may they all R.I.P.

  • That, children, is a man.

  • one of many of tennessees military heros. pall mall tn

  • Sgt York was a rare breed. May God Bless him and all of his family. He was a real American.

  • Well said, my friend.

  • He is right up there with Teddy Rossevelt,

Custer, Jackson, right on back to Washington. I guess the best way to measure it today is this. I watched the move Sgt. York with my son a couple weeks ago(TCM). He liked it so much said we should buy it on DVD. Checked that out and found that it cost $24.95! for a movie made over 50 years ago that speaks volumes! Sgt York is still popular

  • We need more people like him. Not crazy sociopaths. Peacemakers.

  • im a relative and i will be a sgt. to

  • to matthew243723564543:

How are you related to him? Because He's my 4th cousin.

  • he captured more than a 100 soldiers

  • Smiley: Sgt. York captured 132 German soldiers to be precise.

  • A real MOH hero. This is a great American like Douglas MacArthur, andther MOH hero. The Band of Brothers Easy Company heroes at Bastogne are even more heroic.

  • greatest american hero of ww1 another fine tennessean who have gave there all for there country.

  • one of the true American Heroes

  • In his own words...He "TEACHED" them off...

  • Yes...there are a number of errors in this report..starting with the actual date of York's heroics....8 October 1918...not 5 October.

  • i thought it was he killed 20 and caught over 130 prisoners

  • yea thats true .he also sniped like 17 stationary turret gunmen

  • i though he captured 107 prisoners so many lies
