OMG! You people are calling Earl Scruggs' son, Gary, a jerk! That is him, you know, and he probably brought Steve to the Opry. The Scruggs are great friends of Steve Martin. He was directing something, like telling a musician when to come in or something. You people who call people jerks are jerks yourselves. LOL.
VINCE GIRL ACTED LIKE AN IDIOT, SHYING AWAY FROM STEVE WHEN STEVE WANTED TO SAY 'THANKS FOR HAVING ME!' ON MR. THINKS HE'S KING GILLY WHOP'S MICROPHONE - BUT STEVE WAS A GENTLEMAN - YOU GET EM STEVE!
@jehovahuponyou If you pay attention, you see that Vince wasn't shying away from Steve, he was getting out of the way of the banjo, which almost took out his eye. Both of them are good guys, all the time.
@feathermaye - ACTUALLY I DID PAY ATTENTION, MAYBE YOU SHOULD TRY IT YOURSELF, ONLY HURTS TEN SECONDS OR SO FOR KNOW-IT-ALLS! BANJO BODY IN THE MIDDLE OF STEVE'S CHEST, HEADSTOCK OF BANJO THREE FEET TO HIS LEFT - I DID SEE THE BANJO 'DIP SLIGHTLY' AT OLE MR. THINKS HE'S KING GILLY WHOPS SHOULDER - NOT HIS FACE, NOT HIS EYE, MR. EVIDENCE REENACTMENT GUY - VILK GIPP IS AN ARROGANT TOAD - I HEARD YOUR TAKE ON IT, YOU HEARD MINE, NOW GO AWAY AND LISTEN TO 'BLOW HIGH ON DE MOUNTAINOUS HILL'!
@blinkbiker87 - NO SILLY - READ MY POST - NOTE MY USE OF THE WORD 'BLIND' TO YOU - I KNOW THE VIDEO IS NOT PRESENTED IN BRAILLE, SO ALL I SUGGEST IS A TRIP TO THE EYE DOCTOR AND SOME NEW GLASSES FOR YOU - OK? I THREW IN THE 'LYING IDIOT' FOR THREE REASONS:
1) I AM A CYNICAL OLD BASTARD.
2) JUST TO PISS YOU OFF.
3) YOU CALLED ME AN IDIOT FIRST.
NOW, WATCH THE VIDEO, AGAIN, WITH YOUR NEW GLASSES AND AGREE WITH ME BEFORE I SAY SOMETHING VILE UPON YOU - ROFL!
Banjo sounds like "Ban the Jews". Are banjos anti-Semitic? When Eddie Murphy sang Hymietown on SNL, was that anti-Semitic? I think "Hymie" is a very cute word. Jews own The Yellow Pages AND The White Pages and there is no listing for the Nazi Party in the yellow or white pages. Are Hymies anti-Nazi?
@PopBubblewrapPop I am not a huge lesbo fan, except for Ellen DeGeneres. But I would turn lesbo to be just like Steve Martin. I would even be a butch lesbo.
yeah but dont forget he had a really bad up bringing which makes him even more great to me that he pulled through ..but if you ever red his life story it's pretty sad
Respond to this video..Who would have thought???? Steve Martin from the Bird Cage Theatre at Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park California to the Grand Ole' Opry!!!! Hometown boy made good!!!!
@PopBubblewrapPop Why? Don't you think it would make a rather homogenous and trivial crowd of men inhabiting this planet if everyone, indeed, had done his uttermost in aspiring to be just like Steve Martin?
@imalwaysrite666 There are like 5 videos in the sidebar of him playing many different tunes. I guess you are also mad that Mettalica "only" plays Sandman and Master of Puppets, right. Artist have signature works.
@imalwaysrite666 That's hardly true. And on his latest album, "The Crow", he wrote or co-wrote all but one of the songs. It was well-reviewed, and Martin has the respect of bluegrass musicians all over.
gotta say that seeing him play like this gives me a new respect for his various talents... and his humility (stepping back from the microphone after his solo, giving it up for the fiddle player)
Steve performed some comedy skits on the Tonight Show while he accompanied himself on the banjo. I had no idea that he could play...never mind play like a champ!
It is always good to Steve and John McEuen play together. John taught Steve how to play banjo and the first time I saw Steve many years ago he opened for the Dirt Band.
umm best selling author, playwright, has the top billboard bluegrass cd,most sold sheet music for dueling banjos(yes he WROTE THAT) does some COMEDY on the side.. some have the right to be arrogant.
@nuno7911 Actually, 'Dueling Banjos' was written by Don Remo & Arthur Smith. Don Remo has 2 sons who have their own ripping bluegrass band, Hayseed Dixie, whose specialty is covering heavy metal and hard rock bands such Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Queen and Kiss bluegrass style.
I was wrong about this being the only song he knows, but his hair looks the same. That I'm sure of. When you say Steve Martin it sounds fine but when you say Steve 3 times without the Martin it sound like a strange name. In fact the name Bungie would be a strange name. Bungie Bungie Bungie. @amphotog Huh? He's a world class banjo player. The guy is right up there with the very best to ever pick one up. If he had decided to give up comedy he could have become a full time musician or a session artist a long time ago and made a really nice living winning a few grammys along the way.
