  • Phil Collins in September of 2010 told C TV (with George Stanophlaous) that it was in Canada (either Montreal or Ottawa) where Phil started experiencing back pain and loss of feeling in his hands (I saw Genesis in Boston on 9/11 and Genesis were phenomenal). I think the tambourine jigs on "I Know What I Like" were what did his back in. I'm happy I got to see Genesis once in my life but am sad that Phil Collins won't perform again (he's one of the reasons why I took up drumming).

  • They are old, but they have young hearts and their music is always young

  • Saw them in Toronto and in Montreal back in 2007. They were great. I was also inpressed with Phil Collin's French language speaking skills.

  • Absolutely amazing. They've been performing nearly as long as I've been alive and they can still do that on demand...with real instruments, no autotune, no special effects, just a shitpot of talent backed up by expert instrumental performance. I fucking weep at what passes for music today..no one will hear of half the schmucks we have five years from now let alone 40! Thanx for the music guys, it's your gift to the world and we appreciate it!

  • jazzy cool.

  • 6 people have bad taste in music.

  • superb.....absolutely superb.....thanx for posting what happens to be my fave group.

  • If they would just make one more album and one more tour around the world so i can at least got o one of their shows I can say i saw the best band in the world and i can die happy

  • amooooooooooooo

  • These are the masters of the universe man!!

  • Turn it On! ~ Love you Mr.Collins! ♥

Why not dream a different dream?

    very peaceful loving frequencies...Thanks to my friends! ..........lol......and YOU!............. ( ( (d[-.-]b) ) )

I LOVE YOU GENSIS and PHIL COLLINS!

  • yay for unsynched audio

  • Musica della meraviglia e della memoria!!!

    Emozioni allo stato puro!!!

    In a word G E N E S I S______N A S C I T A

  • Wrong speed. Wrong key. Out of synch. No energy. I love them but this is bad any way you look at it.

  • @B17MIKE Lay off them! It wasn't that bad.

  • @ThroughRock Yeah' Genesis can put on a hell of a live show, People who criticise Genesis need to pay more attention to just how talented these guys actually are. Do your Math my friends!

  • @B17MIKE Nope.

  • @B17MIKE Sounds damn fine to me.

  • Something tells me they were tired by the time they got to Montreal. :P

  • top of the heap...SERIOUSLY TALENTED...

  • they dropped it one half step. of course phil is a little older. but he still sounds cool! amazing musician!

  • @clced1 more like a minor 3rd.

  • I was there!! too cool

  • Its funny how the olders can perform like that after so many years, and they are still great, I saw them in Prague in 2008 and at first I was scepic about that, but as soon as they start perform I was surprised like little boy who get his desired present on christmass eve:D

  • Cheers to Phil, the richest Kiwi i know.

  • Why is this so slow? Youtube compression?

  • @mgzt190plus eh?

  • ive been a fan of genesis for 20 years now (it would of been longer but i wasnt born) and i never get tired of listening to them. rock on forever!!

  • bootleg?

  • Saw them in Toronto the same yr

  • just one word to them....awesome !!

  • Clearly the band has slowed down and lost a step but they did start in the late '60s so it's not unexpected.

  • Was this at Olympic Stadium???????????

  • @MetalGrunger11 yes it was

  • where did you get this?

  • Turn it on again is one of my all time favorite songs but it does need to be in its original key. It gives it more life. All in all this is really beautiful music.

  • Every time I see Phil drumming on this last tour the poor guy looks like he is agony and struggling with it all. he has always been my main influence drumming (even had the same teacher as him and roadied a bit for Genesis back a bit). This tour was a little heart breaing for me.

  • @tindrum Hopefully, his back surgery helped him out a little and he'll be able to get back someday.

  • @tindrum he's feeling the music

  • @tindrum i know what you mean..he's been an influence on me as well, and i remember trying to drum to Genesis tunes and his solo stuff.. what a huge loss to the rock and drumming world, that he is no longer able to play...his drumming and sound is so distinctive, you can pick off in the first bar of any thing he plays on..also, as a Montrealer, i am extremely disappointed that i couldn't make this gig..i was, in fact, working myself unfortunately....

  • @tindrum however, i did manage to play a tune in tribute to them and him, with my acoustic duo, which i sing lead and play percussion and guitar..the after show crowd came by to the local bar where i was playing, and went ballistic..great moment and gig for me, personally !

  • "WONDERLAND" song by band Pullman Standard is missing from "Alice." "Wonderland" song captures the essence of the Alice story. Disappointed that "Wonderland" did not make the final cut. Thank goodness can hear it on YouTube with extended trailer. Definitely SICK and worth the listen.

  • awesome!

  • Lol, such aimless vitriol. Hilarious.

  • spot on assessment of the band

  • @whiterobin

You need to get a life, you ain't a critic ..

  • maybe hes lacking because he is 90% deaf...ever consider that?

  • Right there with you buddy, I have the same opinion.

  • I agree

  • @whiterobin You sure are angry. You should listen to Ripples and calm down or something.

  • Brush you're stinking yellow teeth

  • Great stuff !

    (Nothing to bicker about)

  • Daryl Stuermer, Collins and the visual effects was the star of that show, I know I was there.

Banks and Rutherford were just planks of wood, tired old men just along for the ride and the cash.

At least Collins put some effort into it.

Maybe Rutherford had soiled his diapers right at the start of the set, hence his total lack luster performance.

Stuermer's guitar work was worth the admission price... he blew them off the stage!!.

  • piss off, if you went there that presumably means you're a fan and a real fan wouldn't say bullshit like that. what a ballsack!

  • You're an asshole. Look in Websters, and you'll see, aside that word...(but there isn't any, meaning you live in a drug-induced-world)...your pix, blastarrbollaxIII.

I cannot understand, how such IGNORANCE can be perpetuated!!!

    Go listen to ABBA!

  • @blastarrbollaxIII Did you get the memo??

You know? the one telling the rest of the world that you are a complete fucking retard!!

  • Are they downtuning now for Phil's voice?

  • not all songs, but some songs. But i dont think its bad ;)

The only thing with playing in deeper Vocals is that i thing that no son of mine is not powerful enough ;)

  • No, my comment wasn't meant as an insult. Many musical acts re-interpret songs as they age a bit. It's great that they can still put on a show.

  • Amazing all 5 are alive and healthy !!!

  • where did you have this recordings?

I only know Pro Shot Recordings from Rome, Dusseldorf und Toronto, but Montreal? Its not avaible at Genesis Movement, but good damn video.

I never saw Phil live, but next year ;)

  • The greatest band ever, after Yes ofcourse !!

  • some of the people in my lief my life you wouldn't believe

  • Phil Collins never ceases to entertain.

  • What a start to this show - bet it was great live.

  • It was ''incroyable''

  • It certainly looked a good concert - glad you enjoyed it.

  • They have always had an amazing stage show. If they ever get back together, I would fork over whatever they charge to see them. Genesis rocks!

  • Mike Rutherford is still wonderful:-)

  • fuck u bitch

  • what is wrong with you

  • wat is wrong with u

  • I love Genesis but the strange thing is Turn It On Again has never sounded right when done live. It just doesnt have the right grit and power that the album version has. Every tour they have played it live, it has always sounded weak.

  • I kinda agree - though they did throw in a few songs that haven't been played since the 1970'ies.

  • Its a reunion tour..and the people want to hear those same songs...its basically a hit parade..money tours generally are.

  • What would you like to have heard? I'm riveted & fascinated by what your dream set list is or "should be". And, I'm sure all of YouTube as well as the Genesis band are waiting for you.

  • Comment removed

  • this is prob the last time they will ever do this live again ,,so enjoy cause this is not a patch on the first recording , the boys are getting old so are we

  • LETS JUST AND WAIT SEE?

  • I've loved them for 30 years but at this point I wonder if they're on the road because they're bored and just can't think of what else to do. Not looking to offend anyone (like I said, am a fan). But why retread stuff when the level of intensity & performance is so tame compared to what it once was? I'd rather they record some new music & try something else they haven't for a long time: writing stuff that is different, adventurous & NOT bubblegum. We know they have the talent. Just not the drive

  • I see you wrote this 4 months ago. Therefore, you hopefully realized how silly you appear to be by writing it. You don't need the reasons why this looks foolish at this point, right?

  • poor intro.

  • id rather hear a slowed version than a NERVOUS too fast thing........besides people bring crap equiment or MICROPHONES...... cellphones DONT cut it.....

  • who do you think is better phil or peter

  • Comment removed

  • Everybody always pins it down to Phil and Peter, and quite frankly the band sound was a band effort. As a huge prog head, I have to say Peter, but even after he left, everything until after duke was good! Then they sold out, oh well. After Hackett left they should have really changed there name.

  • they do sound really slow-live they sounded fantastic, I guess the video didn't do them justice

the keyboard barely sounds there-but when I saw them it sounded great.

  • It's sad how they have to take songs down an octave because Phil can't sing them like he used to. I recently picked up a copy of Three Sides Live and this version of "Turn It On Again" can't hold a candle to the one on that album.

  • An octave? Not quite that much! ;-)

  • Actually C minor to B♭m, not that much but enough to kill the good tension of the tune... No wonder people feel it's an octave down. Intro was played in original key but I feel it's unnecessary for this great song.

  • Well, B to A actually. =) Personally I don't think it made that much of a difference.

  • gonna say lol

  • I was at the Toronto concert that same year, it was just magical.

  • seems to me out of all 5, the only one keeping up with their musical skills is Stuermer.

    Phil sounds & looks bored

tony & mike - sound rusty, but getting into the groove

& chester - well, he's there doing his thing.

  • I want to see you in age of 57 and after 22 shows in europe. Of course they're tired, but nevertheless it's still great. It's simply a pleasure to watch this ;)

  • MERCI pour cette vidéo.

J'était présents au stade, et le visionnement m'as rappeler de bons souvenirs

  • 3:42 - More trouble every day! (?)

  • Ben moi j'y étais au stade olympique pis ça été le meilleur show de ma vie.

    GENESIS.YYEEEEEAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH.

  • I saw them live in Düsseldorf, this was so great!!

  • Es el mejor grupo de musica del mundo, por su grupo y trayectoria, son unicos

  • Es el mejor grupo de musica del mundo, por su grupo y trayectoria, son unicos

  • I've been hooked to Collins ever since Disney's Tarzan.

So sad that Genesis is leaving.

  • Phil seems like he is having a hard time playing this song. If you watch older shows of this song he rips those toms. I guess age, it happens to all of us..

  • Phil having a hard time playing the toms on this song LOL

    NEVER LOL

Older shows werent on the scale of this gig and demanded the very very best and he and Chester gave the very best.

What you are watching is masters concentrating.

Saw them at Old Trafford 2007 and the sound and the set was as tight as a nun's crack!

  • Big Phil drums fan here. But by his own admission, he hadn't played any challenging drums for nearly a decade, and had to "re-learn". It's pretty clear that he greatly simplified many parts (Firth of Fifth, for one), played others more carefully, and occasionally hit some really great grooves. But the music is still strong in every way it needs to be.

  • I agree with you mortcola, I have been studying Phil's drumming for years. He has always said he is a drummer first, but it is evident with this tour his drumming has been put on the back burner for years now, a least this style of music.

  • "tight as a nuns crack" lol i have got to use that one sometime lol

  • Heh heh, you're welcome mate. Don't where or how i got it, but it's true ;-)

  • It ain't age! Lack of playing time. Rust. Many of the greats, especially the jazz guys, are doing amazing stuff at far greater ages. Look up Roy Haynes!

  • No way

  • Absolutely not!!! Stuermer and Thompson are both incredible musicians and have been a very important part of Genesis Live for the past 30 years. They both contributed to the greatness of the shows and live music over the past three decades.

  • I agree with you!!! Now they should be officially band members...

  • Saw them in Manchester UK that tour.....fantastic. Just, JUST beat Rush as my fav gig of 2007, even though I saw Rush twice!

  • Forget kaiser Cheifs Linkin Park and all that shit including the whole of Metal. Genesis with phil Collins are the best. I got in to liking them while playing GTA when some of Phil Collins songs and Genesis came up on the radio. I have got to say it is great im 15 and bought all of their albums. Genesis are the best.

  • same here u got vice city stories? have u played gta iv? im 15 as well

  • This is incredible! Has anyone heard about a DVD of the tour???

  • the official ( not this one ) will be released at the end of May , and will be called When in Rome! You guessed it, that's their gig in Rome ;)

  • Well..Pikey..love your response to Prog Rock....there's always American Idol for you. Your such a bogus philosopher...You don't know nothing...PERIOD

  • I was at Montreal!

  • Ithink thats was dukes into with turn it on again... i have the live over eroupe Cd and it says dukes and this is the exsact song

  • This is amazing! Soundboard, proshot! Amazing! Where I can get more of this stuff? Is amazing!!

  • This is great shit. Phil is so great. Too bad about the sappy movie ballads. This tour made up for all that...They still play so well together..flawless.

  • ...the Montreal audience are dedicated Genesis fans..they love their prog music...it's that they love to LISTEN...not move like some head bangers do. It's music for the intellect.

  • Yeah no kddding, the best 2 tribute bands in the world both come from Montreal... The Musical Box and Turn It On Again!

  • "Progressive Rock" is rock with sappy lyrics that spring from utopianism (Childish Rationalism), naturalism humanism (atheism), socialist statism and scientism.

The message of the songs of Prog Rock is "There is no God, therefore through science and socialist action man will rise up to become gods!"

True Prog Rock is a form of indoctrination by Statists -- conditioning and predictive programming.

    It's bad for you.

Genesis plays AOR that has a theatrical aspect.

  • amazing! just amazing!

  • They have a lot of pro-filmed stuff from this tour. First time I'm seeing this one, though. Very cool. Saw 'em 10/2 and 10/4 in Chicago, great shows!

  • I was there september 14,2007. It was amazing. Over 68,000 people. Best concert. GENESIS IS THE BEST!!!!!

  • I was so mesmorized I didn't even see the crowd!

  • Could this crowd be any less excited? It's like they are at a state fair watching a Genesis tribute band.......

  • What makes you say that?

  • Really? They finished with Carpet Crawlers? Such a strange choice. It might be dated, but I always liked Dance on a Volcano + Los Endos for the finish.

  • Genesis es la banda más importante para mi y para mucha gente de Argentina de todos lo tiempos

  • iGUAL DIGO DESDE VENEZUELA MI HERMANO !! lOS HE VISTO 4 VECES Y ESPERO VERLOS D NUEVO ALGUN DIA..SALUDOS !!GENESIS RULES !!

  • no idiot. it was in montreal, it says that in the title!

  • I heard that people could get a DVD copy of their show? is this true?

  • I was at their show on 9-27 and I thought it was a DVD too but it was 2 cd's of the show. If you here otherwise can U let me know?

  • sure thing

  • PS. I bought th cd's

  • i should have gone to the concert in montreal

  • What song do they end the show on now? I know from the past tours Turn It On Again was their closing song.

  • carpet crawlers is what they used of this sadly passed tour :( i really wanna see em again. such an incredible tour!!!!

  • Carpet Crawlers

  • thank you a zillion times for this!!! this video was impossible to download from the videotron website.
