Hi, I bought the resin filter and I have a Rancillio Silvia. Is My machine suppose to struggle when the filter is attach to the intake hose ??? Thank you very much for your time
@simonmccenright1 No, it shouldn't; did you ensure that the bottom of the filter is floating free? As long as you saturated it to begin with and the bottom has free access, it should work fine - Kat
Hi Gail and Kat, we have a Saeco Incanto Deluxe and have a question about descaling and the water filter. It came with the Aqua Prima water filter. The machine has a setting for water filter (yes / no). If the Aqua Prima does not take the place of descaling, should I set this option to NO water filter? Thanks!
I have one of the Softeners that has the Chaocoal filters in it, My question is because the bottom of my espresso mashine tank isn't flat and the suction cup won't stick, will it hurt the filter if placed on its side or will it affect the function.
@alphaatube We did do a similar test using the Cirqua and two different tap waters -- you could definitely taste a difference in the coffee flavor. We did them as a press pot, however. You should check out that video! - Kat
is there a recommended filter (not softener) specifically that will work for the silvia? i know there's that water softener accessory but is there a filter system that'll fit inside the silvia tank?
@deekboutique Not sure -- we haven't tested anything like this...I'll look around to see if there is anything on the market that we could test, etc. - Kat
I use the softener on the left, it's great since I only need something to take out the calcium anyway. Here in the Netherlands the water doesn't contain much chlorine or other bad stuff anyway.

@christiandrumr80 You should still set it to a filter, but it will prompt you to replace the filter and to descale, I believe. - Kat

@Myrandomreviews1 I don't believe so, but can't confirm 100% - Kat

Hey Gail & Cat, have you two fought about doing a blind tasting of two identical shots but one with tap water and one with filter water?

Thnx for this video. One question though: what's better for my espressomachine: a filter or timely descaling?

@jochemvanl It's up to you; I vote for using the water you like to drink, taste-wise, for your coffee and then descaling if necessary. - Kat

@44Bigs Cool -- the resin filters are great, especially since they're re-chargeable. - Kat
