What is this need for Social TV... Do you actually like spending money for something you can get for free ? Think about it, what all those TV boxes like Apple TV, Logitech Something, Boxee, do ? They offer you access to the internet, social sites and a movie library. You can get all of those plus virtually ANYTHING, by just connecting you home PC to the TV. You can then rent movies from iTunes, use ALL social media sites, and browse any site you like. WHY do you pay money for these useless boxes

@bigsteamfan I have a laptop I use for a home biz. I don't like sitting in the office on a small screen to do all the personal stuff. So...Boxee Box is a way to go instead of forking out another $500 for a laptop, and having it take up space and looking really ugly in the LR. The Boxee Box is small, cool looking and does everything I want it to do without all the extra hassle (of the pc). And the couch is way more comfy than my office chair and there is room in the LR for friends.

I have a laptop that does not support 720p much less 1080p! movies like Boxee! & doesn't have HDMI connection. the only way I can watch videos is with my Xbox 360 being connected to the same network as my PC & use Windows Media Center (which does not support DivX files & counts for half of the movies I get!) this Boxxee Boxx is going to work perfect for me! & it has a WebBrowser?! how can you hate on that! im fixing to go buy it!

the fact that boxee has that weird "align it yourself" thing for the screen is a huge letdown. the last thing i want on such an awesome thing is getting the resolution wrong. wdtv does it by default. hope boxee integrates it too.

It would have been ever more clever if they made the keys on the back side more durable and not touch sensitive. boxee is awesome anyway you look at it but a little pricey

ps3 is great but lacks a good store of movies and songs, but you can install to a big hdd

360 is great, but it gets pricey at its monthly plans just to use a lot of the crap

in short, all are great and have their benefits and flaws, but i prefer the ps3. id love to have a boxee though

I was really looking forward to see Boxee's ability to stream one's local content, since I've read many unsettling reviews/comments about it. I'm seriously considering AppleTv and hacking it once it gets to a more advanced stage. But I'm open to any media box that'll give me a great easy to use, issue free netflix and local media solution.

I have to say some of the implementation of things here (like playing the YouTube stuff) is rather poor. Surely they can get access to the underlying files like Apple TV and iPods and other devices can without needing to go to the website itself? Or maybe it's down to a licensing thing where they avoid having to pay Google if they go via the website. Either way it just seems disjointed.
