Sati wasnt abolished by muslims but by BUddhists, BUddhism abolished and rejected all kind of sacrifising rituals of humans even animals. @Mikeybetts You know it pretty detailed for someone who didn't live in that time and didn't read the actual paper work left behind by our ancestors (the arabs) and these aren't the Byzantines coz i saw the series they were romans... and khalid Ibn Walid was a strong general feared over whole asia / europe. Get your facts right before stating something thats actually wrong because there weren't even that many arabs back then and roman's already had 3/4th of europe so they were with huge numbers.

and the romans werent even around at the date of this battle, by this time the romans had been thoroughly defeated by the christians and the pagans of europe, these were the byzantines, an empire that focussed more on economic growth than military growth, and was swallowed up by the savage muslim hordes

2-3 days ago I had a beautiful dream, I was with the sahabah we were walking through the desert of Arabia at around midnight on my left I could see a sahabah wearing a turban the loose tail flutterd in the air. Sati wasnt abolished by muslims but by BUddhists, BUddhism abolished and rejected all kind of sacrifising rituals of humans even animals. The so called sati in the Mughal era was because to save honor. Similar as sikh girls who jumped in wells under the partition in order to save themself from muslim mobs. Read the historical chapter of BR Ambedkar where he regards the first democracy ever in India was a Buddhist empire.

As for the context you use it for, that happened to save their honour. Honour from Hindus, Muslims and Sikhs who were out to kill/rape/steal from each other, all were as bad as each other.

Most religion have their own male domination, most likely its cultural. Buddhism came into excistence under a large Hindu rule and it abolished caste system and sati and other rituals of even animal sacrifising. Sati existed most likely under the Rajputana society.

What im saying is that BUddhism was the first to abolish the sati system ( not muslims) Under the Mauryan era sati was vanished in larger part.
