  • @Allen1628famm NOOO!! :'( Not my baby Orion VII Hybrid who was overheated eh? Fix that damn bus! Good thing MTB fixes burnt buses but we had one NG HEV burnt in arson torch in the scrapper.

  • Thats allot of junk money there.

  • I found out that NY operators have to retire their buses every decade.

  • I remember the 4500's, way back in the day.

  • where'd u find all of these? i once remember passing a yard up on i think it was Corzine Av in Brooklyn with a bunch of MTA Scrap

  • whre was this taken

  • i would buy one those busses if i was a millionare or a billlionare

  • @jonathan171677 I know me 2 but you to treat that bus like its your own baby.

  • I grew up with the Orion V's! There still some Orion V's in this video that I didn't get to ride! Man, I remember how awesome those 100-200s sounded after repowering. The good ol' days are OVER, sadly.

  • @NYCTransitFan Yea all our BIA Orions V & TMC-RTS are now gone. So lets enjoy what we have left.

  • @Allen1628famm Yea, atleast I still have 666! :)

  • MTA should really fix up those buses because not all of those buses are trashed they should at least fix some of those buses up

  • @abdulla902 even if they did fix (rehab) them the MTA would still retired them because of their age.

  • Say I took NovBus # 8641 in 2008 on the M22

  • I saw 8492 ( 1996 NovaBus RTS-06) in 2005 on M66 few times lol

  • Orion V#158 got stuck in the snow in 2000 when I was in M1. But that bus was strong to get out fast. I called that "Epic Kickass"

  • Orion V # 153. That was a most perfect bus I ever took back in 1998 on M1. The engine souded fantastic

  • How come 1 1999 MCI DL3W bus scraped so early. It's only 12 years old

  • @NYCTAFreak500 The MTA see it as 12 years on every bus.

  • Old Orions that scraped made me cry because theses buses were my memories of enjoying the ride in the 1990s. I used to take 100's series of orion in 1993 all the way to 2001 with my mom and sometimes with my dad

  • OH My. What happened to the 2004 Orion Hybrid at 8:20

  • @NYCTAFreak500 The Engine overheated.

  • @Allen1628famm whoooooaaaa, that's not a very good sign

  • Some of these buses still look like they are in shape.

  • @engineersdash8 They where some of them was rehab and them retired. They got rid of these bus really for no reason just because of their age.

  • Wow 1435....was a good bus.....

  • Y The Orion Vs Had 2. Smh

  • @MtaFan1201 I know it sucks that there gone but it was due to there age time which didn 't make any sence. All of the BIA Orions are gone and some of the OBI Orions are gone as well. But theres I few of them left. you'll find them in Queens CS Depot has them still.

  • @Allen1628famm And JFK as well lol

  • Wait, so the next thing I will see is these buses getting crushed? FUCK! I hope they save the LED signs.

  • Awwww, 146 is one of my most favorite Orion V's. I can't even belive they scraped an Orion VII. This video almost made me cry. Orion V's were excellent, I enjoyed riding them. Now only few 1995-1997 Orion V's which are 600s are running. 627 also one of my favorite Orion V's is retired. Rest in Piece Orion V's. :(

  • @TheMultiSnipes Yup all the good buses are gone.

  • I almost cried. A tear fell when I saw that Orion VII. PAIN!

  • POOR 146! I LOVED THAT BUS! I SAW IT LIKE 20 TIMES AND RODE IT 2 TIMES! DON'T SCRAP BUSES! JUST CLEAN THEM AND REBUILD THEM IDIOT MTA!

  • look at kansas city scaps bad

  • Those should have been re-sold.

  • @PimpSon1000 Or Rehab is more like it.

  • @Allen1628famm there still all over brooklyn

  • i was in 402 in 1999

  • y y did they get rid of good buses

  • @jamesmolloy467 The Hybirds took over.

  • 8428 was my favorite allen

  • that is sad i drove 8428 on 9/11/01

  • @jamesmolloy467 Really WoW that was a good bus too. Still riding buses.

  • If You Tube technology were around during the mid 1980's, perhaps somebody can post videos of the NYCTA & MABSTOA Grumman-Flxible 870's which were all stored at The Brooklyn Army Terminal after the entire fleet were permanently taken out of service back on February, 1984 due to their miscellaneous serious defects.

  • If You Tube were around back during the 1980's, perhaps somebody can post a video of the NYCTA and MABSTOA Grumman-Flxible 870's which were permanently taken out of service back from 1984 and all were rounded-up at the Brooklyn Army Terminal.

  • @abc1236948 Please not only that all the Fishbowls & New Looks and MCI Classic. And of course our R1s R9s R33 REdbirds etc

  • @Allen1628famm THX for your reply and in posting my comments. I guess when you have taken this video at the Eastchester "pound", the MCI Classic's that the MTA Bus Company inherited from the former private commuter lines were probably already gone. Were the MCI Classics already sold possibly to NIMCO or stored at another "pound" in an undisclosed location? Yonkers garage "pound" perhaps?

  • @abc1236948 Cool No Prob

  • Those LIB buses are my babies!! I've probably ridden all of those bad boys @ least once. Gon miss em' R.I.P '96-'98 Orion V CNG....

  • @breberz Yeah they was the business. We still have a few 96-98 Orion V CNG.

  • Anyone know why they are scrapping these? Why not sell em.

  • Nobody don't want to buy all of thses TMC & BIA Orions Buses. Sence the Orion VII was born thats when they started to Scrap all of the TMC-RTS & BIA Orion V. Most of them still look great as of today for service.

  • If I had the money I'd buy an RTS.

  • Trust me your not the only one.

  • These buses arent that bad. They just need a little fixing. I dont know why they would just crush and scrap them.

  • Blame The Dead ass EPA. They are making all major transit systems get rid of their good and kick ass buses and replace them with crappy-ass hybrid buses. If many transit operators had their way,we would still be riding rts buses,Orion buses, and other good quality buses.

  • @23AClark Thats true but remember the MTA was losing money so they had no choise but to get rid of the TMC & BIA Orion V.

  • Why not sell them to private opertors like we do in Australia the average bus has a life of 28-32 years Private operator use them for school bus charter or rail replacements. We have an o-bahn bus A Merc 0305G which is still running under government since 1982. Why waste money when a perfectly good bus can be utilitised. We will have them convert them to Right hand drive. Except our MAN SL200 are getting trashed places like this though by the local vandals

  • how much money does the mta make off each bus sold for scrap

  • @Hempstead35711550 Shit Thats something I still want to know.

  • Comment removed

  • @23AClark Most MTA Bus fans don't like the Orion VII besides the CNG. But I have no problem with them cause it something you have to deal with.

  • Comment removed

  • @23AClark Well I'm sorry right it all over then.

  • Comment removed

  • @23AClark I never got mad. I understand who you don' like on youtube I mean I'm not going to lie he do need help with his videos.

  • It will always be sad whenever good buses are retired

  • wow bus orion 483 and 493 used to be part iof castalten in staten island

  • Noooo! Not the 1990 18XX Series Orion Vs!

those were suppose 2 be permanetly kept 4 shuttle service!

Goodbye friends. I will miss your DD92s and Allison HT 747s.

  • not really, the MTA planned to retire these from reserve fleet. plus they were 17 years old and plus the MTA just retire them since there is a 12 year limit now a days. So all the 1991 Orion V diesel from LIB are all retired so you will never see them again, all of them are at the graveyard.

plus the MTA just thought that other buses would be use for shuttle service and they know the 1991 Orion V weren't needed and plus they were never meant to be kept for shuttle service anyways forever.

  • Some of the TMC RTS's and Orion V's had different engines before the Detroit Diesel Series 50: the earliest TMC RTS's and Orion V's in NYC employed Detroit Diesel 6V-92TA engines. A list of the fleets that had these different engines:

    *MTA NYC 8000-8396, 8400 (1990 TMC RTS): 6V-92TA

    *MTA NYC 101-290, 298 (1993 Orion V): 6V-92TA/HTB-748

    *MTA NYC 295-297, 299-316 (1993 Orion V): Cummins L10E/HTB-748

    *MTA NYC 8401-8564 (1993 TMC RTS): 6V-92TA

  • Its a same. Most of those buses sounded so good too.

  • Aw, man, it's a shame to see those good ol' vintage buses go... About last year from summer until Autumn of 2008, my 1995's Ex-SMART's/D-dot NovaBusRTS T8O-206 buses were all retired (#3200-3232). Anyway, great video!

  • Thats very sad to hear. Thanks BTW

  • To damn sad 8433 had something in the window. I could not see what it said. ]Hopefully it will return to service.

  • dont fret theyre still quite a few of those buses in service

  • Yeah mostly in Queens.

  • wow i didnt even knew that these old buses had graffiti on them

  • Sad but great vid man.

  • Thanks alot

  • 190 and 8451 were WFs the Orion VII was 7672 that caught fire on the job also from WFs look at all of Stengels O5s they had the best Coach seats in the house

  • Imma miss Our old Long Island Buses:-(..i use to ride them alot in the 90's...but now they was giving alot of trouble in service they were breaking down alot of the time i would see them on the side of the road stalled out waitin on a tow and the buses would be falling apart.. but now they needed to be retired ..but im shocked to see that Next Generation Orion in there and that MCI..and Nova Rts 9464..but they throwing away those good ones in the 8400 series thats sad:-(

  • There we go!, RTS and Orion V's where they should be I am loving this. I've seen this graveyard a million times and want it to get bigger.

  • Yeah and I want you buried in it.

  • JW72093, what bus do you like? You hate the classic RTS, Orion's, D60's, etc., or probably any other Diesel bus I could name. What exactly's your prob? DDC S-50's or Diesel technology generally?

  • I like buses that a public transit rider would be happy to ride. Real classic busfans may disagree with my taste but I am not a classic busfan. I am more of a techfan than busfan and want to see some revolutionary technolopgy applied in buses, that's all.

  • What happen to that Nova RTS?

  • 9464 was involved in that collision with a fire truck on the B15 a few months ago!!!

  • Ohh that is right i forgot about that accident i didnt know the number of that bus..i figured they would have fixed that up.

  • @rts9100 I remembered that

  • It will be a sad place when there are no more RTS's in NTC

  • **NYC

  • It will be a fun place without RTS. We will have buses with better designs, less noise, brighter interior lights and signs clear enough for riders to read. That's an upgrade.

  • And for humanity, you're a downgrade.

  • Ugh, try passing this sad sight nearly all the time. D:

  • WoW I know it suck to see them like this.

  • wow nice find and video. its hard to see some buses to just go to waste..

  • Yes these are good buses to be a waste.

  • #7212, 9780 and 9783 damn shame! Great vid!

  • Yes its sad. Thanks BTW

  • Damn...the 2 diesels. Probably the best buses they had in the fleet.. Very sad video!!! Great video though!

  • Thanks man. It is sad to see them like this.
