Just as songs need something special (a hook), so do performers. Fair or not, that's how it is. Songwriters are lucky in that it can be a good living and performers know good songwriters are vitally important and are respected. So, not so bad he's not a famous performer with all the troubles that can come with fame. I wish him well and as Willie Nelson said, "a singer can make a good living just touring Texas." I wish Guy well! Thanx 4 posting this classic!
I got turned on to Guy's music in the early 70's, why is this man not much bigger than he is? He is one of the very best song writers of our times. I put him up there with
Tom Waits, Dylan, Springsteen. But that's my opinion, he's such a great balladeer. HAIL GUY CLARK...... ONE OF THE BEST.
even in germany his music is popular i can hear this song 1000 times and there is every time a feeling of being at home . great that this song is posted in youtube thank you very much !

I will stand on Bob Dylan's coffee table in my cowboy boots and say that Guy said it better than Hank! Not sure what Dylan has to do with it but I know it has something to do with Steve Earle, Townes Van Zandt and how I feel deep down inside about something that seems important. Buy me another beer and I might be able to explain it better. In the meantime, this is one hell of a great tune!
