Senna and Lauda were on a par... not much to choose between them (Lauda quit too early and Senna went rallycross) Lauda turned belly up after the fire and Senna was 'transformed' into a legend because he died. No legends here... plenty of drivers quicker earlier than this and plenty of drivers quicker after this... No legends here just victims...

Lauda is an amazing individual and was a great driver, IMO very underrated whenever someone makes an all time best classification. Nobody else ever did the things he did, the comeback after near-death experience and winning a title after such a long break. He had total belief in himself!

Lauda schaut selbst wie Kackalake. Als Mensch ist ein null, nach den was er sagtete !!! Das er ein Weltmeister war und Geld zur verfugung besitzt ,kan er nich anderen Meschen beleidigen. Molto deve la F1 a Niki. Prima del suo avvento in Ferrari del suo incidente , del suo ritorno e delle sue vittorie la F1 non era uno sport molto popolare. La gente inizio' ad appassionarsi proprio a seguito delle vicende di questo giovane austriaco: computer, ostinato nella ricerca della vittoria, resuscita dopo il Nurburgring e vincedi nuovo. Forse non e' mai successo prima nel mondo dello sport.

For me Lauda was THE driver of the 70s. Had he not had that horrific crash at Nurburgring he would have been champ from 1975 right through to 1979. The biggest mistake Enzo Ferrari ever made was to lose faith in him when he returned from his accident, forcing Lauda to join Brabham in 78.

After he gave up the race in Japan (and lost the championship title in a year when he had been dominant like no one before and after him -- 1 third place, 2 second places and 5 wins in eight races before the accident) Niki Lauda admitted that he was afraid of the rain (Enzo Ferrari offered him to blame a machine failure) and that was the reason for him giving up the race.

Very next year he has become the World Champion again. That was true bravery -- to admit his fear and vanquish it.

I´m really impressed that Stewart said that Lauda is the smoothest. Can you tell me the "Story" to this Statement? I know Lauda just as TV Commentator, but as i saw his onboard recordings, i wanted to know more about him. After watching his onboard Show laps, of his driving, im pretty impressed how calm this looks.
