Man could learn so many positive things from wolves if they could step back for 1 minute and see that we are not superior to any of God's creatures, great or small. Man thinks it is superior only because of the weapons we carry. Humans are foul scum. Especially wolf hunters(ruj1970). We should leave animals alone UNLESS they attack US first. How would we like it if our territory was continually being made smaller? Think about it.

Wolves only get food 20-25% of the time. in a good year they might have 2 to 4 pups live and in a bad year they might only have none or 1. Wolves are not overpopulated, only in 3 state wolves are off the Endangered Species List. Every animal on the Endangered Species List gets looked at every 5 years. I am in college right now studing so i can work with wolves! I need to every thing about wolves so i can work with them.

They see the wolf as the end all answer to their trophy hunter problems. @kandaalme Wolves only catch 2-3% of the animals they go after for food. I have worked in wolf restoration since 1988 in Alaska,Michigan and 4 more Midwestern states. We have just started to see the positive results of reintroducing wolves and now with all of the wolf slaughters, that gain will soon be lost. Wolves in Mi. have just be delisted back to hunt status. Wolves live about 7 yrs, with no interference from man. Only 1 pr in the pack breeds. Many pups don't live 1 year.

the carrying capacity of the earth for humans is unknown. humans, unlike other animals, can use technology to increase said capacity. this, of course, means that even if humans fed livestock that much food, there's nothing keeping us from attempting to get more for others.

Wolves we don't have wolves here in Alabama, but we do have the coyote i kill coyotes I understand why people kill the wolves up north but that is because of poor managment, and because they tend to be at this moment in high numbers. I'm not gong to kill a wolf unless i have to because they seem more different than coyotes, they tend to interest me and I like studing them. i wonder if the deer are moving today or squirrels I'm thinking about going hunting real soon. I need some fresh meat:)
@7979Army The wolves are out of control. The original recovery goal of 300 was met in 2002. We now have 2000 wolves. Please get all your friends to buy wolf tags and come up here and take as many as you can. The weather is cold but this is the best time to kill wolves. The tags are cheap even for out of staters because we want them back to the original goal and then kept there. Please kill our wolves.
@ruj1970 we would help you but we have a big coyote problem. my friends in total have killed over 500 coyotes in the past month in a 5mile area, and they are still bad. i think the wolf population needs to also be better controlled also though around 500-700 wolves, but I think the only way for that to happen is to have wolf shooting contests. try hosting, guiding or both for wolf hunts. Get some type of wolf hunting club set up if you can thats all I can say.

@bunterify Animals can't be evil, it's impossible; humans are the only animals that have morals. People let their morals get in the way of a lot of things, including the way they look at animals. Wolves and mountain lions were persecuted as recent as 30 years ago; I understand that - but they have far exceeded the population goal. I normally don't mention the fact that I'm a hunter, as many times people block out whatever I say regardless of how much habitat restoration I have done in my area.

if we want to stop animals from going onto farmers land then release more of their prey into the wild so that they dont have to eat the farmers cattle. If you really look into these problems youll see that it all really boils down to us humans. We are different for a reason and that reason is to protect the earths balance not to destroy it. We need to wish up and think of wiser non destructive methods of control. There is always at least one.
It really depends. There have been cases where there are more than enough prey for the wolves to survive on, yet in one case they killed around 100 sheep for absolutely no reason at all, they didn't even eat them.

@whitewolf1310 No, that's not the reason. Wolves eat livestock because it's easy prey, and because they've completely eliminated other prey sources. Hunting is managed by strict laws, which wolves don't have to follow. When wolves hunt elk so much that the herd can't support the pack size, they move on to livestock.
Do you know why herds can't support a pack? Because hunting wolves is still illegal, even though the population goal has been reached, and exceeded by a ton.

Wolves we don't have wolves here in Alabama, but we do have the coyote i kill coyotes I understand why people kill the wolves up north but that is because of poor managment, and because they tend to be at this moment in high numbers. I'm not gong to kill a wolf unless i have to because they seem more different than coyotes, they tend to interest me and I like studing them. i wonder if the deer are moving today or squirrels I'm thinking about going hunting real soon. I need some fresh meat:)

@7979Army The wolves are out of control. The original recovery goal of 300 was met in 2002. We now have 2000 wolves. Please get all your friends to buy wolf tags and come up here and take as many as you can. The weather is cold but this is the best time to kill wolves. The tags are cheap even for out of staters because we want them back to the original goal and then kept there. Please kill our wolves.

@ruj1970 we would help you but we have a big coyote problem. my friends in total have killed over 500 coyotes in the past month in a 5mile area, and they are still bad. i think the wolf population needs to also be better controlled also though around 500-700 wolves, but I think the only way for that to happen is to have wolf shooting contests. try hosting, guiding or both for wolf hunts. Get some type of wolf hunting club set up if you can thats all I can say.

@bunterify Animals can't be evil, it's impossible; humans are the only animals that have morals. People let their morals get in the way of a lot of things, including the way they look at animals. Wolves and mountain lions were persecuted as recent as 30 years ago; I understand that - but they have far exceeded the population goal. I normally don't mention the fact that I'm a hunter, as many times people block out whatever I say regardless of how much habitat restoration I have done in my area.

if we want to stop animals from going onto farmers land then release more of their prey into the wild so that they dont have to eat the farmers cattle. If you really look into these problems youll see that it all really boils down to us humans. We are different for a reason and that reason is to protect the earths balance not to destroy it. We need to wish up and think of wiser non destructive methods of control. There is always at least one.

@whitewolf1310 No, that's not the reason. Wolves eat livestock because it's easy prey, and because they've completely eliminated other prey sources. Hunting is managed by strict laws, which wolves don't have to follow. When wolves hunt elk so much that the herd can't support the pack size, they move on to livestock.
Do you know why herds can't support a pack? Because hunting wolves is still illegal, even though the population goal has been reached, and exceeded by a ton.

@xXFoxyScorpionXx firstly, i have never heard of Candice Berner. also, i dont care about the mating all that much. i will eat what i must. we do not look through their eyes, so we do not understand them. from all your comments i would guess you dont like wolves

If you've never heard of Candice Berner then search it up, wolves quite literally attacked her for no real reason.
So you quite literally want to eat an animal alive, or make an animal suffer as much as their own child ripped out of them?
Many have tried to look through their eyes, taking days of just standing out in the wild to observe them; they are nothing more than a dog, except more aggressive and dangerous.
I love wolves, but I certainly know it would suck to be one.
