  • fantastico!!

  • I like it fast.... just saying... btw Im a huge fan of stan and jazz in general, and am a gigging artist so please dont try to discredit me or some crap. I just like it faster :)

  • I'm 16, and i normally listen to R&B and stuff like that, but my friend told me about this song, and now i can't stop listening to it, i even dance to it. :)

  • original version of ska tunes "Tommy McCook & the Skatalites "Peanut Vendor" (Dodd / ND 1964)

  • I prefer the earlier version that was a little slower.

  • Is that Dalton Smith on Lead Trumpet?

  • This recording of "peanut vendor" is not only quite fast - its really high too: D major - I play a Kenton arrangement in Bb major. This version in D is taxing for trumpets and trombone solo.

  • I'm from Guadalajara and heard this tune when I was growing up in the 60s. My dad played it all the time.

  • Great stuff. I prefer the original but all of `em are GREAT!!!! Kenton was and always will be my favourite band, wish they were still around, can`t stand this rock stuff.

  • TOOO FAAAAST! I have the original on 78 rpm. CRAZY!!!

  • does anyone know what album " long lonesome train"???? is from.... been searching the kenton files for years.. cant seem to find that ,,once had track... its amazing... if you see this and know please respond..

there is a reward in in it for you.. really!

  • @kirbyd

I've got it on New Concepts of Artistry in Rhythm.

  • That´s so powerful ... :-)

  • I didn't like the bone solo at all. I think his 1972 London perfermonce was much better than this one.

  • @supernole100 I liked the bone solo, but I do agree that the '72 vid is better. Jay Saunders all the way!

  • @ satchm05 Heck ya! lol.

  • hey

if u think that was tight search

    "maynard ferguson sesame street"

    OMG! lol

    Awesome piece

  • STAN KENTON ~ HE IS GREAT!

We saw him many many times.

  • GREAT! Though I'll never really like the signature Kenton "modern jazz" dissonant trumpet chord (sorry, Stan!), this version is so compelling! The low piano/bass sax tempo and sax/trombone chords are delightful! Very happy, energetic, and "driving" without being "wild".

  • Is that Gary Berone on trumpet (man on far leftj)? Met him, Jiggs Wigham (bone) in Cleveland around 1961 with guitarist Lee Bush and guys from Maynard's band.

  • Best band playing and greatest arrangement ever. Such a tight orchestra with superb leader in front, pity we have to suffer such lightweight material and efforts from todays luke warm talent

  • Someone once said that it sounds like everyone in Kenton's band arrived bang on time. Ain't it the truth?

  • Hey, again such an old battlehorse! I love it! Kenton forever!

  • Great Love it and so will may others I am sure.
