I lived there for couple of years as a child and have the fondest memory of the city and it's people. if anybody knows the place where there are two 12 floor buildings standing side by side with a gated wall around both( I remember they wore the tallest building around. And wore used as a residence for soviet era engineers from Russia around 1985-86} Please let me know how to find it on the map. Hope to visit Aleppo some day again.
you asked about dresses, and about women that wear black dresses
in aleppo and all muslem countries they considers that women shouldn't show their body and their accessories to men (except husband) and they can wear bashful wears infront of their family (brothers uncles...)
and that is to maintain the community from moral turpitude.
unfortunatley most of arab countries looks like aleppo , not orgnized, not only the traffic, but the type of the life is unorgnized.... even syria has very deep civilisation.
@abdohidaya But the old side of any city is what tourists want to see abdo. I live in a 2000 year old city (young compared to yours) and tourists come to see the old sites of my hometown.
The womans wear black dresses on the streets. The other dresses from the shops, they wear them at home, at parties, weddings, celebrations, just for fun with friends. I know it, i come from Syria :-D
Thank you for your presentation. These clothes are bought mostly by tourists and Christians in Syria. Next time maybe you can go to Christian villages with small towns. There is much to see!
I've been to Syria trice, myself and I could say that despite the country's condition, Syria is still one of the most peaceful countries in the world. Almost zero crime. I stayed not in the hotel but with the Syrian family... was able to know and mingle with their neighbors. Syrian culture (and their family orientation) is absolutely amazing. Thanks for sharing this vid.
Mrs. Teresa haha beautifull video i have to give it to you, i'm from damascus syria never been to Aleppo, and i busted out laughing when i heard your comments on those little cars haha some people call them trezeeenazz, and most women wear these dresses during weddings and things like that, nice video though
@Teresathetraveler I'm from Aleppo, Syria and this video brings back ALOT of memories :P Problem is hardly any internet in there -.- that's why they didn't know what you're talking about when you asked "Do you watch youtube?"
I'm from Turkey. I visited syria yesterday. streets not any clean. as for me civilization isnt only technology. syrian people are very benevolent and nice. should visit... There is interesting country and very cheap
The Mongols famously attacked that citadel, back in the 1200s. It really brings it home just how old it is, and its history extends far far back than that point in history. It's quite an amazing place. Erbil in Iraqi Kurdistan has one very similar, which is also many 1000s of years old. Mind boggling. :D
OMG am from Aleppo, but living in Kuwait now. I rarely go the places where you went, in other words you went to the most crowded and the most crazy area in Aleppo : ) but its very nice to see these things before seeing the other cool places in Aleppo : )
OMG all those places u have visited ive been there..im originally from australia, but i lived in syria for 4 years and studied arabic there coz my mum is from syria...i loved syria especially the ways in which guys flirt with girls...its awesome
cant wait to go back:D:D:D:D
thanks for posting your video...next time i go there ill do the same:P:P
she didnt say shisha and ive baught shisha in aleppo when i went to marry my husband. she said these kids are selling shoe shine you dont have to be an asshole to her
I'm glad you enjoyed yourself in Aleppo! I'm originally from both Damascus and Hama, but Aleppo is a wonderful place to explore with a rich history. I believe the stuff you saw on the street was wool; did it smell strangely? Also, about the dresses and trendy clothing: most girls wear tracksuits in the home, especially in Damascus. During weddings and engagement parties, women don the elaborate dresses because these events are typically separated by gender. I hope you had a great time.
Thank you very much for posting you video. I am 19 an I am thinking of countries I would like to visit in the future, and Syria is now definitely on my list!
halab is aleppo in arabic looks like you just visited the old parts and the business part of the city im sure if u went much further out where people lived u wouldve loved by the way if u noticed one of the most amazing things about halab is that all its buildings are made of aleppo rocks from mountains u dont find this anywhere else in syria or the middle east
I have been to Aleppo myself and I liked a lot. So friendly people there. As a norwegian it was like a farytale came true when I finally could see Halab.
You are right, unfortunately I did not get a chance to see the modern part but I did see the modern part of Damascus and can see that Syria is becoming quite modernized.
