  • Its over. God is dead.

  • "If God made this world then I would not like to be the God, its misery and distress would break my heart." - Arthur Schopenhauer

  • "My argument against God was that the universe seemed so cruel and unjust. But how had I got this idea of just and unjust? A man does not call a line crooked unless he has some idea of a straight line. What was I comparing this universe with when I called it unjust?"

  • Why would God be bound by the same moral obligations we are to each other?

  • @johhnycarlos So, why call him good? Why is he asking us to live by those moral obligations?

  • The problem is when we think into things too much...remember...we are only 'dust' compared to Him.....of course God is good.....where has all man's 'thinking' got him today???

  • @MrChubbleyWarner Yeah, fuck thinking! Those assholes, trying to "understand" things. Bunch of bastards.

  • @ShiftyWeasel ....yes..'trying' to understand.....and failing.

  • @MrChubbleyWarner According to your strict definition of what constitutes "understanding". You forgot to say that.

  • @ShiftyWeasel ..so what conclusion did they arrive in the end? God is good/not good?...they were still none the wiser...yet they were all praying to Him while they stood in the gas chambers...what else could they do? Who knows what was waiting for them on the 'other-side'...could have been Paradise!

  • @MrChubbleyWarner what an ignorant comment ........... no offense

  • @savibang4412...ignorant of what exactly?....the Truth?

  • @MrChubbleyWarner Nonsense!

  • @petion2010 - in your opinion...to which you are of course fully entitled!

  • @ExFundie Only when He runs out of patience and you push Him too far.

  • Thrangki its john 3:16

  • @thrangki Your God is the result of the imagination of barbaric primitive supertitious people who knew no better, deal with it.

  • this is no doubt a very powerful scene and a very thought provoking movie, HOWEVER, it should be noted that whomever uploaded this film failed to upload the final scene - the above video IS NOT the end of the movie - i encourage all to seek out the movie elsewhere so you can see the final scene so you have a COMPLETE perspective of the director, producers, and writers' message.

  • Great Movie........

  • God exists only as a metaphor for the unknown. This is why eating of the tree of knowledge casts him out of our lives. Good riddance.

  • I agree with this guy.. God..Is not good.

  • I heard that God was rejected by the "other" Gods cause he was a temperamental baby, and they didnt like him, so, he made us ,to serve him, hm? I dont know? But I can tell you what I feel, and have experienced.. Its not a "GOD" of love.. i can assure you that. Like the Bible says, "If you ask your earthly father to give you this and that, how much more does your God in heaven know of your needs?"" WE:? Apparently. nothing..Cause I have asked.. and "NOTHING".. is what I GET.

  • @arambulo86 tell me about God and what you understand about Him, since you know Him, thus making you qualified to answering all our questions i'll ask two questions #1 what was the purpose of sentencing David's child to a slow death other than to punish David, #2 How can a loving being put death, destruction, child murder, birth defect, natural disasters, and Genocide into his master plan for salvation? and dont give me the free will speech, because you know God, therefore you understand Him

  • @arambulo86 I refuse to serve a God who kills children. Better to destroy him and rule ourselves than to be under the foot of a divine tyrant.

  • @arambulo86 ", since you know God that much (and I don't), can you please tell me where did God take his poop..?

  • Film imprescindible y lastimosamente poco difundido.

  • If there is a god, we are his little monkey sideshow, his entertainment.

He must love sitting on the sidelines with his angels watching people suffer and die. But I think believing in god/gods is silly and childish.

  • Did anybody ever notice that less than fifty years after the commandment "thou shalt not kill (or murder, whatever you want to call it)" God told the Israelites to wipe out all the people of Canaan including BABIES!!!! So murder is not against God's commandments unless God sanctions it? What kind of God contradicts himself like that shortly after forming a religion.

  • @roborob28 I've made that point before to theists. It's usually at that point that they start speculating wildly.

  • tell me all you believers in blind faith what gives your god the right which is an all knowing beginning to the end, kill in my name typ person, to create mankind knowing the out come & all allow its killing. I would think that if this God hears all & see's all would come from where ever & defend himself. I know I would.

  • Anthony Sher is quite possibly the greatest living actor. Magnificent

  • This is a very powerful scene, and begs the question that God was only seen as a just, good God to the Biblical Hebrews because he was on their side.

  • @DarkwingDork , I agree with you

  • I am a Christian and I find this video very interesting. In fact in two weeks I am going to show this video at a service we are having in order to ask some questions about good and evil. I really think this is going to get people thinking and asking some difficult questions.

  • "rational" questions that is. Unless of course they be figurative "remnants" of the late reverend Jim Jones who slaughtered his own flock "in God's Name" Check more on Victims of Religion on either Yahoo! or Google.

  • How did the people react?

  • Well first the responses were largely emotional. People didn't quite know how to react because most of them have never heard such a well thought out response to the problem of evil from the scriptures from a largely negative viewpoint. However, we worked through it to the best of our ability the point isn't to come up with the answer but know that the question exists and it isn't out of bounds.

  • Thanks oneshot012, interesting.

  • If your a christian and can defend gods barbarism, i feel for you.

  • No one said anything about defending barbarism. I don't no where you got that from. If anything I am remaining agnostic about an answer. I think this is one of the most difficult questions that one can deal with.

  • Sorry buddy - im not going to let you call yourself an agnostic when you quote bullshit scripture :

"People didn't quite know how to react because most of them have never heard such a well thought out response to the problem of evil from the scriptures from a largely negative viewpoint"

Agnostics just want the keep the door to everlasting life open.

It is plain that if there is some sort of "god" DEISM lets say - IT has never shown ONE good piece of evidence to it's existence.

  • Here is where you are failing to read what I wrote and for that you statement is clearly without merit.

I am remaining agnostic about an answer...that means I am remaining without an answer...

I am not saying that I hold to the agnostic worldview nor have I ever made that claim. I am a Theist. Look at my blogs and you will see.

As for the existence of God, that is clearly another question that deserves another venue one with respect not where you call someones starting point "bullshit"...

  • You sir can't even hold logic in your head evidently.

You are agnostic about the answer but you are a theist?

Basically you're saying that your putting it all up to FAITH?

    hahaha! Hilarious!

You are going to live your life according to something you BELIEVE that has absolutely no evidence? ( IF IT DID, IT WOULDN'T REQUIRE FAITH )

Good for you - but i would rather live my life outside of superstition thanks.

Feel free to waste more of the FINITE time you have.

  • How humble of you to explain the after life so clearly.

Im sure alot of wise thinkers throughout our age would love to speak with such an infallible individual as you.

Kingdom? We threw away such stupid notions of superiority a long time ago - nice to see some people still want to be servile slaves after death.

Sends me to hell? So now you know of 2 bronze age fantasies are reality?

Im sure Hades is real too - or Mount Olympus.

Good job on deluding yourself to such an extent.

  • Your logic is flawed.

A ruler such as a king is by definition superior to his people.

Do you not know the divine right doctrine that was used to justify kings and queens for centuries?

Your ideas (1) (2) and (3) sound like the ramblings of someone who has a mental disorder.

Heaven is a holy place of life love and liberty?

Have you been there? or is all your data from a book produced by primitive fantasists?

Maybe you should examine how ludicrous your sound when stating this rubbish.

  • How courageous of you, someone challenges you and you tuck tail and run.

Doesn't seem like your fantasies have much of a foundation.

  • ones..

Youmade the comment almost a year ago about showing the powerful segment from "God on trial." Since 11 minths have gone by, I'd like to ask you how this has affected your Xian friends.

It was issues like these, and many nore, which motivated me to do years of research. I'm now an atheist bcuz of intense search for the truth.

I'd really like to know this has affected you all?

    Thanks

  • Cootabux...

The questions of the problem of evil/good are some of the hardest to deal with and we don't pretend to have all the answers.

For us God is not an not the great object to be studied but the ultimate subject to be encountered.

So we embrace doubt, we embrace our fears, and our inability to grasp him because we believe that God is wholly other. Just like love there is always risk.

However, to fully answer your question it was the hardest and most difficult video to watch.

  • God is an asshole, no matter what religion you are.

  • God pronounced judgement on pharaoh for something that he made him do?

  • This arguments in this section shows that god is a homicidal psychopath.

  • This is brilliant!

  • This peformance is oscar-worthy..

and the message reassured my doubts against god.. its touchin

  • God seems fond of death

  • He seems quite fond of mosquitoes and frogs as well!

  • @miramirawatchawatcha Sacrifice.

  • This right here is one of the most powerful performances I've seen in a long while.

    Thanks for uploading this.

  • And where are these supposed holes? Didn't the mothers of Egypt cry when their children were slaughtered by God?

  • @bronxers: Every muslim I've talked to says the Bible, i.e. New and Old testaments are corrupted.

  • "@bronxers: Every muslim I've talked to says the Bible, i.e. New and Old testaments are corrupted. "

Yes, but most of the Quran is based on those stories.

The Quran is meant to be an uncorrupted Bible.

  • By taking on the Old Testament, the BBC is taking on the Muslims. Their belief is based on an Abrahamic beginning, the same as the Jews and the Christians.

  • By taking on the old testament, they are taking on the Muslims as well. They have an Abrahamic beginning just the same as the Jews and the Christians.

  • take this story more broadly. this is ultimately about any "ism" that divides people into good and bad, moral and immoral, etc. as soon as that happens people suffer and many die, and frequently the most innocent. god (under whatever name you prefer) is just the excuse/rationale/justification.

  • I just wonder what every extreme Christian (or any NON-Jewish people to be fair) of today would feel (and say to the God of teh Jews) if they were in the PLACE of the Amalekites and the Egyptians before. They would probably breath the same sentiments they do now to Islamic extremists AND Jihadists who slaughter non-believers (muslim that is). What do you think?

  • I think religious people kill and wage wars over the issue of who's creed is the more peaceful...

  • LOL. good point. Couldn't have said it better. "They're fighting over which religion is most peaceful." LOL

  • HAHA! That is hilarious! NO doubt..Glory to the the All knowing! :) ha..WEll.. I give up my faith in God, from here on..:) Thank you God, for TRUTH! Have mercy...please ..oh .."JUST" God. :)

  • @rhadiel , you are a genious!

  • It would be a nice recognition of the pagan origins of christmas.

  • Why do I see only mention of supposed"hole" in his argument but never actually see one?
