  • Solid Bicycle tyres with a 1/2 assed chevron / or even 2.25 Slicks would have gotten through.

  • Why dont they put spike on the wheel? or at least put chain wheels just like the tank

  • reminds me of wall e

  • should have put mud tires on that thing... i mean really look at those tires plastic maybe? way to cheap out on the most important part.

  • @giantpunis

    Made in China parts. LOL

  • i could have solved that problem in design stage. if they are planning any future missions, you can get though messenger on here. if you want to know how.

  • can somebody tell me if she is alive? if the rover is still alive in mars? pls reply.

  • Very unfortunate it got stuck there. Wish it could move on n make more discoveries.

  • Well at least they plan to make the best out of the situation.

  • Lol martians must be like "humans... *Facepalm* " D:

  • ur comment is SEXY!! ;)

  • I have a question: why can't people see all the videos and images. Someone who has something to lye about always hides evidence.

  • Comment removed

  • They have a bad bandwidth at Mars. NASA is not paying enough for the local ISPs

  • In the '80s the satelites had give us good images, and the latest satelites had gived us mush worse images. What happened? The tehnology had gone bad? I don't think so, they hide something. Fucking priks!

  • crap I lost my comment :( I had a 600 charatcer idea over the fact that the monster truck is the best idea the world has ever had

  • why not use your arm?

  • should have sent a monster truck

  • People like you are driving us back to the dark ages!

  • lol...

  • I still don't get it, how there could possibly be a heaven and hell. I'd love to believe it. Where would it be if there was one? S:

  • You know the person in charge of monitoring that rover knows the surrounding 10 feet really really well.

  • You mean to tell me they can make a toy car flip back over on its right side and prepair for it but didnt equip this million dollar peice of equipment with a system for roll over ability ?

  • Whats the point of that? They dont have a possibility of financial failure. No competition, lots of funding. Hell, they could have parties every day and they would still get money.

  • We all know its not the money because they spend ather peoples but its the thought of pride and know how .I am very happy they got six years from a 90 day project but they didnt have a clue that it would last that long . I thought that NASAU thought about every asspect of the mission ?

  • I think you missed the point of my post. They dont have competitiion or fear of failure, so they really dont have to care about much as a "company". The only period of time they actually got fired up was when the soviet union was actually giving them some competition.

  • Oh yes you are so right and that is what went so wrong as if we have the money so lets spend it before we loose it .

  • it was made 6 years ago i doubt they though of that maybe they did who knows

  • what do we need mars for anyway?

  • @grandobsidian an escape from earth probably. that is... if we don't have any life there on our brother planet

  • Mars is impractical in my book for the moment to be used as a new home. There's room in the ocean though and that's by far easier. just my opinion

  • I am saying that for when we run out of space for everything, i was more enphazising the hope for life there though

  • fair enough, i just think people are bit too hopeful for planet hopping at this point

  • I say, "You cant get better than a Kwik Fit fitter".... How many millions and the god damn thing is stuck? The next thing they will be telling us is that the thing is on Mars (yeh right) the same as man landed on the moon.... bollocks

  • yo people turn transcribe audio on the lower right corner of the video its sooo off!

  • Come on man... it's not rocket science!

  • why T.F. would they give it flat wheels?

  • everyone if you got google ad just refresh the page so you dont have to watch that shit

  • you would think that they would have anticipated this scenario.....they would've been better off to have consulted people with a little less slide rule smarts and a little more practical sense ie: 4 wheel drive chassis engineers, offroading experts, even, if not especially, RC car enthusiasts. Hope for the best , but prepare for the worst. And yea, I think tracks would have been better....lighten up Lucastheshitstain.

  • why don't they just use the arm that the rover uses to pick up samples to push itself up? Or did itself out?

  • Great! Now we are polluting on Mars. Maybe Al Gore will want us to pay taxes for causing Mars global warming now too. let's send Nobama to Mars and maybe he can save the planet :/

  • @youbestbequiet lolz

  • 911 ya

  • quick, send a godamn rescue mission, save the rover

  • @dodow1234

I will get captain planet on the case.

  • @dodow1234 hell yeah shoot me at mars any day i'll dig that bitch out i don't care if i don't come back at least we can say there WAS life on Mars but he died HAHA

  • Now they can finally detonate that nuke.

  • Why wouldn't those eggheads put tracks on the rover instead of wheels.

  • Eggheads? Hmm, pretty sure they are smarter than you.

  • @nixxi1980 because track links can snap, get rocks stuck in them all sorts of problems so they used solid wheels instead, seems logical to me but what do i know im only 19

  • Omg XD .

  • red rover, red rover, your roving is over.

  • the guys teeth are fucking nasty.

  • Fuck google and there ads

  • Subscribe me !!!!!!

  • Sorry, it's Mars, not Mara!

  • Mara seems perfect enough to become the new Earth. It has the closest temperature, the closest day, and it's atmosphere has traces of oxygen (not enough to live, but even a little bit of oxygen on Mars sounds promising).

  • @MajorTechFan

Mars lost it's magnetosphere billions of years ago which resulted in the loss of most of it's atmosphere since it could no longer prevent solar winds from "blowing" it out into space.

So even if it was successfully terraformed, the new atmosphere would have to be kept in place by artificial means. Same thing goes for heating.

  • We can't let our spirit sink!

  • ive been there in marse 65years ago. ppl in earth can live there and make a new life in Planet Marse. this is no joke.

  • Who are u?? u re joking man..!

  • @Gonxa2002 By the way do you think i'm joking? im telling people of earth. Mars Planet is perfect for making new life ..

  • well... besides the fact that it's core is cooled and no longer has a magnetic field to protect the atmosphere from solarwinds. But other than that sure.

  • In? dont you mena on?

i dotn think people are gona wnat to live IN mars :)

  • it is alot of money but these kinds of mission are a positive testimony to human endevour.

US government will spend 1.3 billion on one huge bomber plane! one trillion dollars on one war. world hunger/ disease should comes first but at least this isnt another war machine.

  • the tires need some tread

  • why are we going to mars when we don't even know our own planet ? 70% of our planet is undiscovered

  • good question... o_O?!!?!

  • The fact that both the MERs have been on Mars for around six years is a true testament to the people who built and operate them. Even if they were to die tomorrow, the MER program would still go down in history as being tremendously successful.

  • Dumb-ass NASA, could have given the damn thing some arms or hands or something for grabbing, pushing and pulling, but no, they just made themselves a remote control car with a camera mounted on top which cost billions of dollars.

  • @yahouaz lmfao

  • the entire mission and both the rovers cost $820 million, now don't you look foolish when you pull numbers out of the air? they seem to have worked fine for the past 6 years only after breaking through the ground did it get stuck.

  • It has a digger, does that help?

  • Space explorations isn't like driving down to the corner store to buy skittles.

Takes alot of extreme precision and planning.

    Small budgets mean small projects.

  • I guess I never looked at space exploration as a method for us to colonize another planet being that no other planet resembles earth in temperature, flora + fauna, etc.

  • @Saternoc The first step to transforming is analyzing the planet you wish to terraform. You might never get to live on mars but your great grandchildren might get the chance.

  • It's great how it's still running and I'm sure it was engineered very well in terms of power efficiency and great hardware/software in it that makes it run for so long.. But why in the hell would you give it 4 ball like wheels to travel around? it might save more power but holy hell why didnt they give it metal link wheels and so what if it doesnt travel further per day

  • Looks like a really shitty design to me for such unknown train! Did they really just decide to use the worst wheels ever that have no actual tire traction!? They should have used like tank tracks or something.... Stupid Nasa, always fucking up at least one major detail.

  • aliens must have done it, damn those martians, lol

  • LOL XD

  • The woman sounds like the gps from test drive unlimited

  • The idea of exploration on other planets just fascinates me.

  • Imagine if these billions of dollars were used on improving the country's infrastructure rather than finding out what the core of Mars consists of...

  • Imagine if humanity never did anything interesting and instead focused on really mundane crap.

0.52% of the federal budget is spent on space exploration. 0.52%.

If you want to complain about budget problems start with the military, not space exploration.

We need to be in space. We need to get off this rock, lest one day we get hit by some random natural phenomenon and the whole of human history is extinguished.

  • to koshy2

if the human race was destroyed who would be around to give a shit

  • good point, no one.

  • That's a really fucking stupid response.

  • Should you really be calling me stupid? I assume that your vocabulary only contains the two adverbs that you used above which were "really" and "fucking." You have a great vocabulary. I'll assume that you have no response to that because YOU are "really fucking stupid."

  • Whoa I'm all for space exploration but wat exactly are we attempting to accomplish? I don't think we should remove funding from the military for national security purposes. There are plenty of other areas where reform is needed i.e. welfare.

  • What are we attempting to accomplish?

The knowledge gained from all of these explorations helps us understand our relationship to the rest of the universe, and in lieu of more serious funding it's about the best we can do.

As for welfare and such, I agree.

There are many many areas where fat needs to be trimmed.

I'd just like to see us seriously investing in the future of mankind by venturing into space, but a serious effort requires serious funding.

    Funding now is a joke.

  • I believe we need to build a new Space origination with China, EU and Russia. Empires have always produced amazing break troughs but we are at the end of empires as we know it. We need to pool our resources together like with the ISS and go to Mars together.

  • rofl that made my day xD!!

  • This video has the wrong title. It's only about the end of that particular Mars rover.

  • you could also make the suspension articulated so that it could simple step out of a hole, having the ability to walk as well as drive would be a good option on the next rover.

  • now to create a robot that can actually do that....

its a lot easier said then done.

  • Call me stupid but I don't see how we can't get something decent to roam that planet instead of that little RC car. We're cloning and all this crazy shit but we can barely roam Mars.

  • Next time...... use some good tires. Like off of a T-max or savage rc truck.

  • someone got a text haha

  • no more rovin for you!!!

  • why does it have smooth wheels

  • nooo....not spirit..=\ im sad

  • No, not Mexicans. Just a concern Martian!

  • Mais,puisqu'il y a une athmosphère sur Mars, aussi irrespirable soit-elle, pourquoi n'utiliseraient-ils pas une sorte d'hovercraft ? Mhhh ? ;) (lol)

  • NASA never willing to admit they fucked up. dumbasses.

  • i know right?

  • they didn't fuck up you retard. Its been on Mars for Six years when it was expected to only last half that.

  • 90 days =/= 3 years.

  • wow, its done well, but too bad about the loose dirt.

  • you would think nasa would have made the solar panles tilt more or given the wheels more traction than we see in this vid....smooth tires in sandy conditions....not smart...

  • @squidsunkshitface if theyre not smart...then you would be able to send one to mars too..lets see you post a video about u sending a rover to mars then, genius

  • throw your tax dollars at me just like you throw it at nasa..ill start a private space program with no gov. intervention..more will get done...and the out come will be sweeter...you paid for those solar panels...and bald tires...duh..!

  • @squidskunkshittycunt and mean while, you should TRY to get your degree in MIT and become a chief engineer in your expertise, start everything from scratch because of no gov intervention, recruit people to volunteer at you job because of the pathetically small size of your "mars exploration" shit, and finally, if all is optimistic and successful, send a rover better than NASA's and boast about your achievements. Very good plan, bravo.

  • Just think of how hard it was to perfectly launch the rocket at mars and have a rover land.. Like hitting a needle with a bb gun from a mile away.

  • Dude shut up he's jsut saying taht was not a smart idea.he doeset have to try to make one better just because he thought it waset a good idea...my god people today are retarded

not ot mention some people dont even like it when i say retarded

  • poor rover stuck on mars

  • FUCK!!

  • oh nasa ,you just screwed up theres no other way to put it ahaha

  • Screwed up? The rovers were designed for 90 days, not 6+ years. How is that a screw up?

  • I think Mars has a center of nougat and caramel.

  • I see what you did there

  • lol

    good one!

  • :-( Poor little Rover... I just think of Wall-E when I see these guys. *tear*

  • All the World must untie and recover those lonely robots.Lonely robots shouldn't be tolerated by the people of planet earth.

  • I agree with the wheel design. What person with any common sense would put smooth tires or wheels on a exploration vehicle. Bunch of dumb asses they have all that knowledge and have the common sense of a goose berry bush!

  • I'm sure you have more mechanical design than NASA engineers.....

  • No, but I have a lot more common sense than those egg heads!

  • OMG LIQUID OR SOLID CENTER, GUYS!

  • The design for the wheels is a bit stupid! It seems the smarter the NASA boys are, the dumber they get. The answer to there problem has been here for the last 30 years and they did not even think to cover soft soil? I think the nerds need to get out of the office a bit more. Just a thought before they waste the hell out of our TAX DOLLARS. Crap like this is why the ppl are not happy to fund this stuff!

  • yeah! Stupid Nasa!! They're so stupid.. wasting tax money....... creating robots exploring our solar system... Our surroundings. Sheesh.

  • some one please invent light travel.

  • or dark travel

  • Nasa, why dont make wheels bigger, duhhhh

  • It adds to the weight, and would require more energy for transportation.

Its all about efficiency for research.

  • @LU29UN99 requires more torque and power meaning more solar power required. Not feasible.

  • @LU29UN99 Nasa why not use an ape with a camera like this LU29UN99 here. noone will miss him

  • @inhuman216 send floyd mayweather sr.

  • great vid, terrible title.

  • it makes me so sad to see it stuck all alone up there :[ it's like our hurt little space puppy and we cant help it get up :[[

  • its not just about mars, eventualy mankind will have to find another planet to exploit (inhabit) the earth has a very limited lifespan its already middle aged. besides who isnt curiouse about what is out there the universe is so vast and so amazing it hurts my head just thinking about it. is there an edge, a center, another universe? is the universe in a jar on a shelf in gods living room ? it boggles the mind but i want to find out.

  • if we were in a jar in a shelf of gods that would be the most incredibly scary thing of all

  • space is the future. we are earthbound until technology frees us from this rock orbiting a star amung billions and billions of other stars. lets go!

  • Go lil Rover(s) Go!

  • Comment removed

  • let's see u create a robot that goes farther

  • So, there's two of them, and they've both been on Mars for nearly 6 years, correct? Why have they accumulatively travelled only 16 miles?

  • they move super slow... and it takes around 30 minutes or more for the rovers to receive a command after its sent from earth... its a very slow process

  • @jorge10928 Hehe, I too was surprised to hear it only went 16 miles, but that adds up to what, like 2 miles per year? that's logical to think that it would take so long for them to go that far.

  • if thats hte case then this thing only goes 2mph and then afterwords it stops for 30mins then starts going again

  • @ThElitE more than 16 miles! lol but yeah you're right

    that's a definite, wtf?

6 years, and only more than 16 miles O.o

  • hehe.......op.........zoom

  • instead of wasting millions and millions on this shit we should worry about fixing the deam economy and !!!!! so we can have good jobs and good pay rate!!!!!

  • Dude, those guys better get the funding they need cause they really need to find another place for humanity to live...the earth will be gone some day and technology is the only thing that might be able to save us.

  • do u really belive in that 2012 crap?

  • nah, i dont mean 2012...it'll probably take longer but i kinda think its inevitable

  • yes maybe it is the planet could get hit by a meteor or something but anything else wont end the world

  • yep, find another planet for humans to live, consume resources, kill off its native life, then move to the next planet! hooray!

  • technology is the only thing that will stop that from happening. its the only real progress. i really hope the mass consumer stupidity doesn't overrun the population :)

  • Nature's cruel.

  • Man shut up if its what we have to do then we have to do it.besides its not our fualt for wars blaim that on the terroist

  • Most the other world doeset want a fucking war till korea and russia all those contrys start one

  • Shut up

  • hhahah u knw what the earth is not going to explode in like thousands of yrs from now.. so they can try to figure this shit out later on.. not now.. when the $1 is not going to be worth shit.! neway by the time they figure out life on mars it will be another thousands yyrs our generation is not going to help

  • If we had that type of attitude 100's of years ago, you'd still be living in a cave.

  • No...you don't really know what's going to happen to Earth in thousands of years. We can't even completely accurately predict weather within hours and days.

  • I know you already replied "Good Point" to others, but I just have to say that is the single worst attitude I can possibly imagine. It is so typical of the youth of today to only give a damn about themselves. So just because you don't get the benefit, you think we should just not bother? So why the hell do you bother waking up in the morning? Seriously, grow up and become an active member of humanity. We explore. We explore for future generations.

  • You know what sometimes you need to hear from someone else in this case (read) other peoples comments so what ? Like (Flyborg) he proved that not a lot of money is been put into this and that was my main concern so dont make this a big deal ! Everybody makes mistakes once in a while.. and yes i love to learn about future generations thats why I watch this!!

  • @yesenia1070 you are an idiot. we would still be living in caves if people retained your mindset

  • @yesenia1070 Actually the amount spent on exploring and learning about our universe is a tiny tiny fraction of anything else.. I don't know the exact figures but it's something like 20% spending on national defense, 20% on social security, 20% on medicare, 10% on interest, and 30% on other stuff, with a tiny fraction of a fraction of 1% being spent on exploring our universe.

(Apparently about 17 billion out of 3,000 billion a year) So if you want to cut something, cut something else. :p

  • Good Point .. =)

  • the earth doesnt have to explode in order for it to become uninhabitable. even the moon is going further away and that by itself is enough to put an end to our being so...yea, not in our lifetime but we have to pass on the torch, so to say ;) we cant all be store clerks and say that scientists will be produced after the year 2200 :)

  • @Flyborg When someone cusses and talks crap, 99% they have a flawed argument, 99% they only rely on cussing to be able to "brute force" their way into beating an obviously superior argumentation.

And yes we spend A LOT on defense. I personally think if we all just got along and actually acted like nice people we would be saving so much money.

And yes, I believe that perfect peace is impossible but if some people acted like they should ...

  • They should rename the title. What's happening in the video isn't nearly as bad as what I was thinking when I saw the name *Angry face*.

  • Anyone really thought about bringing a tow-truck for the mar-car thing....?
