I saw an awesome Imax Grand Canyon video. Next best thing to the real thing and I paid to see it. I would pay much more for a Tool live concert vid. Plus, after Tool is no more, I'd love to have something close to the real thing on vid to watch over and over again.
Plus, we know if Tool teamed up with a video company to record some concerts they would not let it hit the shelves without them having full control of the content.
I hope they end up changing their mind before they call it quits.

lol. tool is one of the few bands whose interviews i actually enjoy watching... there is usually something said that either makes me laugh or makes me think in a way i haven't before.
Many look to Maynard as the "genius" of the band but really think it is Adam Jones he is so talented. Without his art tool wouldn't be the band they are today
i also collect the live shows and there are some bootlegs which are just amazing (audio and vizual) but believe me, nothing comes close to actually seeing the band live! i guess you could apply that to any band you like if youre a musik lover. if youve ever been in doubt about seeing tool, wait until you have the opportunity and do it, or travel to see them - you will be satisfied. ive seen them twice and both tymes were mynd blowing!
I dont think that they realise that they have fans all over the world that probably never going to see them live if they dont travel to America. Thats gonna cost alot of money but it will sure be well worth it :)
@Badmaximum7 Money's not the only issue. Some people can't just get up and say "Oh I'm gonna go to New York to see Tool live". You need a lot more documents like an American Visa to be able to get to America and you're not gonna be granted one for a superficial reason like "going to see your favourite band". Some people just have no chance of seeing them and I think it's a bit arrogant of Maynard and Adam to share that view.
I've been downloading Tool's bootleg concerts for a while, and after seeing them live for the first time recently, I know EXACTLY what they're talking about!

A) Their music is amazing, both musically and lyrically. I understand you may not like it, but it's not "ok"... it's more than that. I don't like Tom Waits' stuff very much, but I can still admit he makes very good music.
B) You can see them live on YouTube, all they said is that they feel it's a better experience to see them live rather than on TV. And it's true... the same goes for every band on the face of the Earth. LIVE live is always better than TV live.
You seem to think they're basically saying "fuck you" to the fans by insisting that people come to the shows. If you actually listen to what they're saying, you'll realize that this isn't true at all. They just want people to get the full experience of their art the way they meant for it to be experienced. I can totally see where they're coming from, it's about not compromising with something they really care about.
you have to put your self in there shoes if you went and made music just cause you wanted to make music not cause the fame then why cant he just make music for you to hear and not have to promote or become a slave to your wants just because they make music they dont owe us anything they gave us something already

i also collect the live shows and there are some bootlegs which are just amazing (audio and vizual) but believe me, nothing comes close to actually seeing the band live! i guess you could apply that to any band you like if youre a musik lover. if youve ever been in doubt about seeing tool, wait until you have the opportunity and do it, or travel to see them - you will be satisfied. ive seen them twice and both tymes were mynd blowing!

I dont think that they realise that they have fans all over the world that probably never going to see them live if they dont travel to America. Thats gonna cost alot of money but it will sure be well worth it :)

@Badmaximum7 Money's not the only issue. Some people can't just get up and say "Oh I'm gonna go to New York to see Tool live". You need a lot more documents like an American Visa to be able to get to America and you're not gonna be granted one for a superficial reason like "going to see your favourite band". Some people just have no chance of seeing them and I think it's a bit arrogant of Maynard and Adam to share that view.

A) Their music is amazing, both musically and lyrically. I understand you may not like it, but it's not "ok"... it's more than that. I don't like Tom Waits' stuff very much, but I can still admit he makes very good music.
B) You can see them live on YouTube, all they said is that they feel it's a better experience to see them live rather than on TV. And it's true... the same goes for every band on the face of the Earth. LIVE live is always better than TV live.

You seem to think they're basically saying "fuck you" to the fans by insisting that people come to the shows. If you actually listen to what they're saying, you'll realize that this isn't true at all. They just want people to get the full experience of their art the way they meant for it to be experienced. I can totally see where they're coming from, it's about not compromising with something they really care about.
And the tickets don't cost $500.
