Note that when the protestors weren't trying to push past the police, the water cannons were not firing, and people were not being beaten. Protest peacefully and get a permit, and there will be no beatings or water cannons. If protesters use force (including pushing) expect the police to respond in equal measure. Simple as that.

the protestors are actually the ones making Korea look like a 3rd world country. There are lots of different ways koreans can approach this. This kind of protest is pretty much the laziest way possible. And if you cross safe zone (as you see in the video), police have a right to stop you- it falls in line with when police feel threatened. So don't complain, don't call it peaceful either. Peacful would be boycott, not public raucous

These protesters are not practicing democracy. If they were practicing democracy, they would not attack people who visit the protests and disagree with them. If they were practicing democracy, they would not harass people who disagree with them on the Korean internet, and they would not call businesses and threaten them for practicing democracy by running adds in conservative newspapers.
