  • as usual cenkwas right.. no PO

  • I think Credit Unions should get into the insurance business. Non-profit health insurance to compete with for profit. Credit unions should start offing health insurance and we don't need the govt. anymore.

  • @gameragodzilla You are brainwashed.

  • take it from a guy who came from a country that has this kind of heathcare system. you don't want it. majority of americans apparently agree.

  • What are you talking about? Where does it say the government is going to decide whether your heart beats or not? That's so silly. Do not forward such disinformation without any substantiated proof.

  • %34, is a majority?

& a public option wouldn't mean the government decides your health care, it means you have an OPTION to go for public insurance, instead of a for profit insurance business. I don't get is why people have a problem with a government bureaucrat deciding if you get treatment, but no one minds when an corporate bureaucrat decides.

  • @Fuctmentality

The problem is the talking point false rhetoric from the right. They don't understand that private companies would need to provide affordable, quality plans to compete with the public option.

Fox News is the problem....oh and general stupidity.

  • @porterwake The problem is that even when the majority of the country wants something, the Democrats wont fight for it, they are corporate whores, fucking Clinton sold us out with his BS "triangulation" excuse, he knew what he was doing they move right so did the Reps, & now lefties only vote for the bastards because they have no choice.

  • @ gameragodzilla is more than brainwashed wats wrong with the gov giving u a cheaper option for heath isurance and compete with the private insurers lol ppl r stupid

  • The senate and the congress on both sides of the isle are a bunch of self absorbed corporate owned lying sacks of shit. We should demand more from them. Elect a teacher or a fireman or construction worker if you can.

  • The Public Option is a Red Herring.

The Socialist-Regressives REAL plan is to Tax & Regulate the private insurers while subsidizing the Gov't Option until the Private Insurers are out of business and the Public Option is the ONLY option.

Then we can have the same high quality healthcare as the USSR and we dont have to worry about competition or choice!

    Want REAL competition?

    1) Let us by insurance across state lines

    2) Stop the Lawsuit Lottery w/ Tort Reform!

  • You mean the same high quality health care as Canada, England, Switzerland & every other developed nation outside communist China?

  • Yeah, it does suprise me that even Cenk keeps suggesting the U.s. "see if a public option works," the proof is already there in those countries. The question is whether the general populace want it. To me the fact there is even a debate over whether you should be covered is more revealing of the American mindset/political system than the viability of a publicly run health care system.

I do agree with Yakyak's idea of buying across state lines tho,I didnt even know you couldn't!

  • Ya, he's right about tort reform as well, but using socialism as a scare term pisses me off.

  • Im going to ignore your Socialist conspiracy hogwash.

Actually, youre wrong on quite a few things. In the first, the government is actually proving to subsidize the very private insurance industry youre fighting for through a combination of mandates and subsidies to people who are unable to afford the health insurance to begin with.

  • Your claim on tort reform is, clearly, very wrong. In comparison to the status quo on Health Care spending, tort reform would have a minuscule impact on any sort of reform (factcheck has an excellent article on tort reform myths). If anything, tort reform is the greatest red herring Ive ever seen in this argument.

  • Buying across state-lines, while a seemingly logical desire, could have considerable consequences if not properly regulated. What buying insurance across state-lines does is massively lower the amount of risk these companies take, as they can now sell to younger, healthier people and reduce the prevalence of seniors. The lower-risk pool would open up for insurance companies and it could actually be detrimental to the American people.

  • @hellraiserheights

Wrong again! 50% of ALL procedures are preformed to defend against lawsuits.

Here's an Personal and typical Example:

I had a pain from stress so I went to the emergency room. They checked me in and $15K in tests later (insurance paid) a doctor came in to my roon and told me that a simple $50.00 consultation would have lead to the $2.00 pill cure!

$14,948.00 wasted due to the fear of some lawyer planing the Lawsuit Lottery!

Tort reform for reduce costs by 50%!

  • Tort Reform, according to the Congressional Budget Office, would only reduce our current spending on health by 11 Billion Dollars; in other words, one half of one percent.

  • @hellraiserheights

    WRONG AGAIN!

The CBO numers do NOT include unnecessary procedures caused by the insurance and medical industries fear of becomming a victem of the Legal Lottery. That's why all the endless tests and that's why all the settlements.

THE CBO says we owe $10Trillion when we REALLY owe $120Trillion. You believe them? FOOL!

  • @hellraiserheights

You need to learn more about Coporatism and how that is the SAME statist central planning mentality HOGWASH as Fascism and Socialism ALL of which has failed time and time again.

Doing the same things over and over expecting a different result is INSAINITY!

You can't blame the free market when it is highly regulated. (hint: it is NOT free)

  • Actually, you need to learn the definition of Socialism. Socialism is the nationalization of all industries in a nation, with a 100% income tax.

Nah, doesn't look like that's going to happen anytime soon, especially with our government in the pockets of big business.

  • @hellraiserheights

    Wrong again!

Communism is the nationalization of all industries in a nation, with a 100% income tax.

Socialism is the CONTROL and REGULATION of all of all industries in a nation, with a gross receipts tax.

Corporatism is the Gov't-Business Partnership wich redistributes from the productive taxpayers to the non-productive corporations which to gain the favor of unions and corporate campaign contributors. YOU KNOW NOTHING!

  • Ya its dead

  • NO! Cloture! Cloture! Cloture!

  • What Cenk said gives me a vision of a fat man finally getting around to getting up his fat ass and changing the television set the old way, without the remote.

  • of cooouuurse!

  • Eh the American economy is imploding anyway, may as well help it along. Corporations will suck the last few dollars out of the general populace and it'll crash once and for all, maybe that needs to happen so we can start rebuilding for real.

  • actually, our economy's recovering as we speak. it's not exploding, but we are recovering very slowly. You as a European should worry about your Euro currency and how it's gonna fail in the next few years. . the Euro will implode soon.

  • Ugh Americans.. I'm not trying to make this into a pissing contest, if the dollar were to collapse it would be a huge problem for Europe too, which is the reason I care.

The problem isn't that you aren't currently going through a recovery, the problem is the conditions that caused the collapse haven't been addressed and aren't going to be. And you're right the Euro is in trouble for exactly the same reasons, with slightly different details.

  • The democrats had 60% of the house, WTF??

  • @stargateproductions Nope they got 58 + 2 indep facing 30 republican strong all no.

  • They are spineless maggots. that's WTF.

  • Get rid of these fucking republicans and liberman! They are killing the middle class and after we are dead, America will be dead too.

We believed in Obama; and apparently the only "change" he was talking about was the stuff that's left in our pockets after we pay rent, on unemployment.

My fellow peasants...it's time for a revolt.

  • All these Republican Senators keep threatening us, "If you reform the financial system, if you reform healthcare, there's going to be trouble for you." But now, I'm angry, because they were debating measures of reform that would ensure that our children and our grandchildren would get vital healthcare. So they can warn us "if there is healthcare reform, seniors will die sooner," all they like because I for one, am willing to die for my grandson. I am not a greedy coward.

  • I'd be thrilled with a $7,600 premium! Mine is $21,000 right now. This would be a win for my family!

  • Health care: RIP

This is a sad time for Americans. Never has anybody seen a country so rich and wealthy deny their citizens , especially the underprivileged, the help and the leg-up that so many struggling Americans sorely require.

I feel so sorry for those suffering and continue to suffer due to lack of care.

  • We could only hope the public option was dead. Unfortunately liberals will be liberals and it will have a name change and a face lift but not go away. You see, liberals said there was 40 million uninsured and when they are done there will be 20+ million uninsured. So, like welfare, hunger, poverty, joblessness, Social Security, Medicaid, public schools, etc.... These things will in the end be far worse off than they otherwise would be if liberals left their grubby hands off. R.I.P. Compassion.

  • What????

  • The public option was watered down and really impotent. No big loss.

Single Payer is really the only solution.

  • We need to start searching for a candidate to take on Obama in 2012. These things take time, and the quicker we start the process the better.

  • I'm Canadian. I have socialized medicine. I WILL outlive most Americans because of it. The evidence is in the statistics (see CIA Factbook - online). I will NEVER grow broke or become insolvent over medical bills. Our infant mortality rates are lower than Americans.

Don't have socialized medicine because this would mean too many rednecks will live longer and spawn more stupid children.

  • Then why do Canadians come to America and pay for complex medical procedures? Care to elaborate?

  • Why do Americans (even thousands WITH insurance) go to India, Mexico and Thailand for complex operations every year? Care to elaborate?

  • Why do Americans travel to Canada and Mexico for cheaper pharmaceuticals?

  • What do people coming to America for medical procedures have to do with insurance? They don't use our crappy insurance.

  • As a retired Military Physician, I can assure you its the quality of medical care that brings patients to American hospitals. And your right, What does insurance have to do with the lack of advanced medical procedures that are not covered by the Canadian health plan? They come here for immediate attention to avoid dying whilst waiting for 'free care'

  • Who waits for critical care in Canada? The only waiting I've heard of is for non-critical care.

Do you think more people die waiting for care in Canada or in America? I'm going to guess Americans die at least 100x more often waiting for and being denied care than Canadians do.

  • You are on crack. Nobody dies waiting for critical care in Canada. Our life expectancy is and always will be higher than an Americans. That fact is from America´s own statistics. I WILL outlive you. I will outlive your own children. My kids will outlive your great grand children because you dont need bullets to protect your people. You need a no profit medical plan. You want wall street to dictate medical care? Well, einstein, stupid people deserve to die anyway. No loss to the human race.

  • Dude, I hope you're old. We need you and your croonies to be GONE before we can all get anything positive accomplished. But I'm not upset at you, I'm upset at all selfish individuals who believe that NOT helping the poor is more compassionate than actual helping. Helping takes one dollar each year out of the military's pocket. So sad. I should just be ignoring your comments, but I have no other badguy to be mad at.

  • There's nothing positive about bankrupting your country. Do your research into failed socialist states like Russia. If you want to help the poor, dig deep into your pockets and give. But don't force others into a charity you believe in. . And Remember, it was my generation that help set the stage for you whiny assholes. To wish death on me only goes to further my argument. Why should I help uppity ungrateful hippies like you if I choose not to?

  • Actually dude, America is the only developed country not to help their own citizens. Canadians Brits etc all have socialized medicine. Russian? pfffft! Even they have it. Cuba has it. Stop humping your flag and do more to help the people the flag actually represents. Last time i checked, the flag was made in China. Put your dick back in your pants and take a deep breath and think clearly....medicine shoudnt be for profit if its killing your own people.

  • @ rata4you i say the same thing everyday america is the richest country in the world but yet they profit from there citizens being sick its deplorable.. u r a smart man

  • Why don't you do research into failed socialist states like Norway, Sweden, and Denmark? People in those countries seem to actually care about their fellow human. Why are people in the States who care about each other hated so much?

  • Comment removed

  • Failure? You are just spouting off something not related to what is being discussed. Tit for tat.....the American dream does not exist! $12,000,000,000,000,000 debt is NOT a success. Thats what you OWE!! Do you want to know the interest rate on that credit card balance? The pot holes on your roads are swiming pools, your bridges are crashing down, your ports are up for sale, your infastruture is failing and police and firemen in California are paid via BONDS. Nobody wants to pay taxes....

  • If your condition is not urgent and life threatening, you have the option to go privately to the USA and remove yourself from the queue..otherwise have some patience. My friend works for the Fraser Health authority and tells me that pregnant Americans sneak into Canada to give birth and leave without paying the bill. It´s shocking that you allow pregnant women to choose to give birth in a hospital and then become broke rather than look after them at a happy moment in their lives.

  • Our reporters follow bus load of American citizens to the Canadian border to buy prescription drugs that are 50% to 70% cheaper here than in the USA. My mom had a heart attack. An Ambulance picked her up from her remote home. Transports her to a helipad....a helicopter flies her to Vancouver...she´s treated....and an ambulance returns her to her towns hospital. Cost? $0.00. Why are Americans always sneaking into Canada? Not for expedition, but because they don't have ANY medical coverage.

  • I wonder if all the people who've been supporting this up to now are REAL SURPRISED?

  • We DEMAND a public option or we will file a class action against the Blue Cross rip-offs. Aren't you sick of getting jacked?

These crooks need to be put out of business for fraud on the American People and their CEO's should get life without parole or the death penalty for crimes against humanity.

  • Nice spin Cenk you sound like a shill for Obama and the Democratic Party! Keep up the good work you fucking TOOL!

  • Nice spin Cenk you sound like a shill for Obama and the Democratic Party! Keep up the good work you fucking TOOL!

  • How about we demand that our government spend as much of our taxpayer dollars on health care as we do on bailouts, the drug war and military weaponry not to mention our prison systems Its too bad that America is a imperialistic monster hidden behind a cartoonist media that undermines its very existence. America must realize that value of all human life is equal in the big picture.

  • This compromise = sellout.

The worst part of all this are all of the new liberals who specifically voted in these people hoping to get change and it didn't happen. Many will not bother voting again, which means the Republicans are now going to come back just like in 1994.

  • i agree

  • The public option would have never have been a threat to the health insurance industry. They could contract out the management of it to the private sector like they do with Medicare Advantage Plans. The fact that they oppose it is just proof of their greed and corruption.

  • True indeed. Power and influence are the most addicting drugs in the world. Nobody likes letting go of a lifestyle that spawn the fruits of easy living...off our money.

  • i agree.

  • Obama and the Dems are a JOKE!!!

  • i agree

  • I should open a Funeral home. With all the dying that's about to take place b/c of this, I'll be rich in no time.

smdh & feeling sorry for those w/o ins. They are not going to put any legitamite legislation out there. They're just arranging it to line their pockets some more.

  • It already is very profitable even embalmers start at 65,000 a year.

  • It is just disgusting that these thieves in the health industry are allowed to continue this greed orgy. I am an American who lives in Kiev Ukraine and can go anywhere to any private hospital and it is affordable because they have a social hospital that brings the cost down of and did I mention no stock holders or lobbyists?

  • k stay there

  • Maybe if two million pissed off Americans marched right over Washington and infiltrated its infrastructure demanding reform then they might actually start to think about changing things. It is inevitable that this inequality of the value of human life will eventually erupt into a violent civil war between the rich and poor.

  • Our system of government is broken. How can an idea that had majority support among the American people be rejected by the Congress? It's because the corporations and the banks OWN Washington and they have been somewhat successful at duping the ignorant people in this country. There will be people applauding this news. People who would have been HELPED by this legislation. It's truly sad and it has me wondering if we will ever have healthcare in the US that covers the people adequately.

  • While I ultimately think the u.s. needs to join the rest of the western world with single-payer health care. I think IF (it's a big if) they actually expanded medicaid to 3x the poverty line, then there should be no reason why everyone couldn't afford coverage, I had medicaid for years and was totally happy with it, however, now I make 'too much' money (a whopping 14-15K a year,) so I have no coverage, but if I made 35K or so there would be no reason I couldn't buy my own insurance.

  • the only thing missing is frederic chopin's requium. did you know he wrote his own funeral march?

as did the sour graped old farted indigent assisted living senate.

    the u.s. senate.

thousands of working americans die from no health care and you play patty cake pork barrel?!

may you all burn in bloody fucking hell.

  • what a moron

  • of coooouuurrrssse. lol, ur so funny

  • I have health care for all Americans right now. Hop in, I'm moving to Canada. Fuck this.

  • As a Canadian, Come on in.... LOL

  • PS: its minus 27 degrees over here

  • If the Dems fail with getting Health Care done then they deserve to get slaughtered come election time. They have the Presidency, the Senate, and the House. The American people gave them a majority for a reason. There's no excuse not to get it done.

  • @roughrider119 and a bunch of conservative Democrats holding them back and a shamelessly obstructionist GOP and an alarmist largely center-right media

  • FFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

  • Hmm, I think I should buy Health Insurance stock, the government will be shoveling money in their direction.

  • good point

  • drauglintuor

That is why US won't be superpower near future. For at least two decades, middle class got shafted from both fronts, private and public. Pretty soon, middle class will become minority

  • Good point, you are 100% right.

  • If the two-parties are basically given orders by the same source, and are essentially in cahoots with each other... why would anyone think either side would care if the other lost?

They are both run by the same people. It's a game.. One side gets in and runs the country like shit, the public gets sick of it and leans towards the opposing party, then the next election the opposition becomes the new administration, then THEY start running the country like shit, and it never-fucking-ends.

  • The "buy in" option is VERY limited. What I mean by that is that not everyone who falls under between 55 to 64 will not have ability to buy medicare policy. Person MUST fall below 150% poverty line in order to qualify. I think that percentage translate to $19K or $20K.

The main point is that unless you make about $20k per year, you aint going to qualify for medicare.

  • The American public has become like a bad gambler. Every time an opportunity comes for positive change you get shafted, and yet every time you lose out I see people making excuses and saying "oh well, it's better than nothing", or "we can't expect lots of change right away", or "next election I'm not voting for him"

Guess what?? Next election you'll get two bowls of dogshit to choose from, just like this election. And neither of them will do shit after they get in, just like Bush and Obama.

  • how could i have been so naive

, here i thought after the election we would be ramming progressive cactus up republican ass for at least a couple years, just like the republifucks did to us in 00' thru 04 with a smaller majority.

these democraps i voted for got a reckoning coming.

  • The public option is not dead. It has been rather put in a state of suspended animation by those who wish to defer the whole issue for another time.

The truth is that this country is going to have a real debate on the public option some day. If not now, then maybe in another 5, 10, 15 years or more.

Like the deficits, national debt, fixing the environment, frankly and honestly discuss & race, this country is just deferring the responsibility to a future generation to address this issue.

  • i agree with rjbonacolta insurance company stocks are gonna shoot up in the coming months. corporations 1 americans 0

  • I got dunked on by Patrick Chewing.

  • no public option? Fuck you democrats! I am tired of these fucking politicians on both sides not doing what they say. im not reelecting any of these fuckers

  • I'm buying bluecross stocks.

  • sad day

  • This is fucking comical. Did everyone forget what Single-Payer was? We've come to the point that we're begging for a ten year extension on Medicare which is payed with premiums anyway.... Complete fail by the Democunts.

Obama, you fucking idiot, you're losing all your Liberal votes, and you're not going to get any Republican votes for this half-ass reform!!

  • Barack Obama has not done a single thing he promised to do. He is George Bush, the African American model.

  • Democrats are arrogant just like the Republicans.

They think they can stand up to the American people. Think again.

Vote progressive and bury these mother fuckers.

  • We need to run progressives in EVERY primary in this country.

Attack Democrats with the same ferocity that you attack Republicans.

Obama and the Democratic Congress mean nothing to us. Time to go back on the attack, back on the offense.

  • What the hell should we be on the defensive? Why the hell should we be defending Obama?

Why the hell should we be defending lousy Democrats?

They are not worth defending. They are status quoers.

  • I wish we had a multiparty parliamentary system like in Europe, that would break the monopoly these two sides of the same cheek known as the Republicans and Democrats have on Washington. There could be a Progressive Party, and Nationalist Party, a Libertarian Party. In this system change at the national level is impossible. At this point. Dissidents to the current system must work at the state and municipal level. Run for city council, county sheriff, county judge, state attorney general.

  • its not the party system that fails, its the fact that in US bribery is legal, and in europe it isnt.

how can politicians be working for the ppl, if corporations give them millions...

  • Fucking Conservatives are so retarded. We should've had the Public Option 10 years ago.

  • The Democrats could have passed any bill they wanted to by using reconciliation which only requires 51 votes. They had 57 votes.

But that would "hurt the Republicans feelings" - Dems.

Fuck the Dems, fuck the Rethugs. Back progressive party candidates in the primaries.

  • Overwhelming majorities don't mean dick if they refuse to deliver results.

  • What a sad sad day

who do I vote for next? Any real liberals not in a CO's pocket - anyone? anyone?

  • i want a primary for each of these sell out scared republican bowing "Democrats". Bring Howard Dean into the Senate! The Republicans killed the public option now its time to kill them in the 2010 elections.

  • The MAJORITY of AMERICANS want a public option, yet our elected officials, have seemed to have sold us out..........AGAIN!

How much evidence do we need to amass, before we call it what it really is? Our government is no longer "Of the people, BY THE PEOPLE, FOR THE PEOPLE"!

Big cooperate money, and family dynasty money have bought and paid for our country!

Socialism for the rich (gov. will bail you out when you need it), capitalism for the poor (you're on your own, best of luck).

  • i agree

  • What a surprise the godamn boomers sold everybody else out again!

  • no public option fuck the government

  • wow the word is out and people are pissed i hope this anger keeps growing so we the people actually force the government to change

  • Now thats change we can believe in!

  • We need to Bitch slap most of those Senators.

We let the GOP tell the Democrats what to do and now we have nothing..

    This is just fucking great..

  • I want healthcare for all but the thing is it would be runed by the government and the thing is when things are ran by the government they suck(jeez i sound like a republican right now).

We need health care but honestly no one has a good idea how to do it.

  • except the other industrialized nations in the world.

  • you sound like a broken record. The fact is that other countries governments, almost all of them, have done it successfully.

  • Jayar is so fly

  • Sorry, kids. Try again in 2012.

  • the dems get never fuckin get anything done! we are such bitches to the gop, this is a load of bullshit

  • I think it's a load of BS too, but unfortunately it's supposed to be about compromise. What really can we do? You cant just vote everyone out of office, because who are you gonna replace them with? Probably other candidates that will pull the same crap all over again. So we should at least be happy that they are trying to do something. Maybe they will bring back Glass Steagall next year (Defazio proposal)and turn banking back into banking again. Gotta think positive.

  • @ junechris

yeah, i know you right. i give them credit. just sometimes i feel they just never fight for anything they want. when the gop is in power, they'll step over us to get what they want. we have the majority so why dont we do that now? i try to stay optimistic though

  • I have a formula:

    Obama lob approval = L + 0C

Where L = Liberal approval and C= Conservative approval.

No matter WHAT he does he'll get no praise from the conservatives, by fucking over the Liberals he screws himself.

His approval = His Liberal Approval, so why cater to the cons?

  • Face it: Majority democrats, overwhelming public support, no action. Is this democracy??

  • its a republic and its clearly failing

  • I LOVE IT! The Rich Pigs got the Poor to pay for their own health care - Classic!

Amazing! Bush & Cheney skate free, Bankers make millions in bonuses after going bankrupt, and the Rich have gotten the poor to pay for their own care AND force them to do it!

    Perfect. lol just perfect.

  • my mom makes 300k a year and she pays for our own healthcare is that rich 2 u?

cause i don't think so but she pays alot of tax so i think she pays her share.

  • AH - You need to look up the definition of hypocrite - and maybe go back to school.

If your mom is paying for your healthcare - then you are a poor person living off her charity in the first place, aren't you? Dumb ass. lol

And that wasn't the point - (let me spell it out for you) - The point is, poor people HAVE to buy insurance now, at top dollar, or be FINED for it.

They could have just left them alone. lol

Your family has healthcare - so shut the fuck up. lol It don't concern you.

  • The American Hitler behind Cenk's head is slowly making me mad.

    O_O

  • Lets apply a poor young woman to the idealistic republican model:

No abortions, so maybe the young girl becomes mother

No tuition assistance, so she now has a smaller chance at a degree.

No "socialistic programs" so the job she finds has to cover all living expenses.

No universal HC, so if she gets sick, she'll go broke.

No progressive tax, because apparently it's fair that her 35k a year income gets taxed 25% like a $50 million a year job would.

    Anyone still wanna vote republican?

  • suck it up republicans lol

in the 21st century its impossible to start a civil war and you will get owned

the USA country is closer to becoming a socialist and then communist lol and theres nothing you can do to stop it =)

  • Hey troll, nobody wants this country to be 100% socialistic. There are markets in this country that make sense and would fail as socialistic programs. Think the government should get rid of Apple and start making computers? Jeesh.

Then there are markets that DO need to be socialistic, like healthcare. The government controls the military, which protects our lives, right? Would it make sense to privatize our military? Healthcare protects lives too, and nobody should PROFIT from that.

  • Socialistic isn't a word.

  • advocating or following the socialist principles; "socialistic government"

    wordnetweb(.)princeton(.)edu/perl/webwn

Apparently Princeton is wrong. Google "define: socialistic" and see what comes up.

  • They're wrong also it's sheep not sheeps.

  • did I say sheeps? wtf

are you commenting on a conversation we're actually having?

  • Why must cost-containment be #1 ?

Has anyone even though about what better health means for the GNP?

  • That's the beauty of being a "liberal". Every survey of reality and all the facts are saying that you can do BOTH the moral & the fiscally responsible thing.

    Public Option = Moral, & cost-containing.

Loads of things do the same thing. The best stimulus is food stamps, and it's a moral thing to do.

Helping low-income families on consulting on raising kids and child nutrition and child development etc, helps the parents, the kids, and has been proven to help the state budget.

    Reality = Awesome

  • Pot-and-kettle what?

  • Well said.

It's true, right? No one has Ever brought up that better health-care will in itself 'produce money'...

"The moral thing to do", well Hell yeah, that's a given... :)

  • That's the problem with the MSM. They let Lieberman say "the Public Option will add on to the deficit", without making the case that the CBO has scored it to lower the deficit the first 10 years, and the 10 years after that.

That's why I'm thankful as hell we didn't get McCain with his "cut across the board"-tactic. Arizona has cut several programs that cost a little money, do the moral thing, but in the long run saves the state money.

Just like saving electricity. Right thing, & saves money.

  • @Myschly

In Canada we love to sell overpriced electricity to the suckers down south.

  • Well then you should love the green movement that tries to ween America off coal, and the politicians for refusing to be smart and invest in green jobs.

A two-pronged attack that forces Americans to buy Canadian electricity :P

  • Hey how come the media isn't talking much about the fact that the public option was scrapped? Instead they keep talking about fucking Tiger Woods! This is big news and people should be outraged! I wonder what that's all about. Are the networks being paid to keep quiet or something?

  • NNNoooo, that can't be it at all....must of just slipped all the entire medias mind is all it is. News media paid off....I wonder how much a news coverage person makes anyways? Probably McDonalds pay....

  • Why tell the public that something the majority of them support (up to 72% in reliable polls) has been scrapped, so they can contact their Senators, when they could be fed Tiger Woods-crap, so they stay more Sheep than People on the "Sheeple"-scale?

It's in the interest* of whomever decides the mainstream medias interest to ensure that as little reform is done as possible on health care.

    * - Albeit it's a short-sighted self-destructive anti-American interest.

  • $7,600 a year? That's the total cost? Well, that's just a little higher than I pay (not counting my company's subsidies) for insurance now.

So, assuming there's still a company paying part of the coverage, that would be a pretty good rate.

  • $146 a week is a lot higher than a lot of people pay, it's a little more than double what I'm paying right now for my wife and myself.

  • Well slow down, I'm thinking of companies paying part of the premium, as they do now, part of that $7,600. I guess if one is unemployed, yeah, that's costly.

  • I'm not sure how much they will 'have to' cover under this bill, and also without cost controls in the bill, the private insurance can easily get a lot more expensive. I hope you're right.

  • I hope the public option comes back...that's how sure of this new "compromise" (between left and independents, let's face it) I am...

  • Goverment by the people for the people?

    I think not.

  • Come on! If you wan't the public option do DEMONSTRATIONS! That's what you do in a democracy. Imagine if a million people showed up in Washington. You don't think that would have an effect? You need to demand this from the politicians. You can't just give up and say "Well, that's what always happens.".

  • medicare should be for anyone under 30 and make the private industry cover everyone else... then medicare would be amazing and the ins. companies would only make mild profits

  • Obama won't accomplish donkey dick in his term

  • That's right and it's terms not term.

  • The corporations know how to make the money, look at how they dump ageing folk into the lap of the government, way to make profits!!! The government is soooo stupid, imagine how bad it would be with the public option!!!
