The answer to both is the same, the ultimate utility of the device.
On a large device text entry is the deciding factor. Only a full size keyboard allows this to be efficient, and there is no way to fit a full sized keyboard on a pocket sized device due to hand size.
Likewise in a small device screen size is the most important design element. Introduction of a keyboard, slider, micro, etc. reduces screen size potential.
Many mediocre variations are possible, but this is key.
I think it's a horrible design, but when there are no alternatives.. you know it's like the old adage "In the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king".
@stberlin You read my mind. With bluetooth headsets and voice commands the traditional mobile phone is quickly becoming obsolete, at the very least you end up leaving it in your pocket and forget about it. It only makes sense to increase the functionality of the receiver so that it becomes relevant again, while retaining the inherent voice capabilities of a wireless device.
Lets be real here, if you need to carry an iPad, you will be able to carry a Courier type of device. And the iPad doesnt have enough features, it is just an e-book reader that tries to imitate a computer, but it doesnt do it well. Why would I buy an iPad if I have a netbook to use in college or whatever, it would be useless.
Thats why I agree that this is going to be the future, a book type of device, to replace all your books and your laptop. Thanx for the video
Fantastic design --- I love your philosophy on portable computing. What hooks me is if it can fit in my pocket, and I can doodle on it like a real notebook. It'd be fantastic. <3
I don't see why both can't coexist. I doubt physical books will ever become obsolete, since many are not just words on paper but art in three dimensions. Meanwhile there is a lot of fly-by-night garbage not fit for print that is ideally suited for digital distribution.

Its like you can read my mind.
First off, love the model. I wish M$ didn't cancel the Courier (started saveing money to buy one when the rumors came out)
My question...
"1) If it can't fit in your pocket it needs a tactile keyboard.
2) If it can fit in your pocket it can't have a keyboard."
Why?

There is an iPhone app that can determine the weight of the shit I took. It's called:
Off Load. Get this app! The biggest shit I took was 2.34 pounds. Try to top this.

Thank you for your support. I'm sure that one day this design will become reality, in one form or another.

I find the whole concept of an e book reader kinda ridiculous, i prefer the touch and smell of a new book over touching a screen
