@FishfilmsInc I still remember watching this on TV in 1982. Yes, they made it into a 2-part film. If I remember correctly, part 1 on Sunday night ended with Superman flying away from the Fortress of Solitude after learning from Jorel who he was.
@FELIX7763 Nope part one ended with Lois Lane falling from the helicopter. She lost her grip...freeze frame...end part one. I remember that like it was yesterday.
@FishfilmsInc yes they did. i've recorded them on 2 VHS videotapes. on sun. & mon. they were both televised on WABC-TV starting @ 0800pm - 1000pm. 42 mins. of extra footage were added.****
i was in the 4th grade when it aired on tv,that week was so long for me i just couldn't stop thinking about it.

I recall seeing this made for TV version of Superman in '82 or around thereof.
The description of the title says it all. It ran long and with all the advertisement
you were watching Superman for 3 hours in the evening from 8-11PM.
The television was a tube (replaceable) based television. Might have been a Zenith.
And saw this for the first time on You Tube.
