Out of those bands only Black Sabbath, Danzig, Death, Napalm Death, early Exodus, early Slayer, early Megadeth, early Metallica, early Sepultura, Bolthrower and Testament's first album, are worth mentioning. The rest are shit. No one like Dime, but still better. I mean, Tony Iommi and Chuck Schuldiner, for fuck's sake. Two obvious ones there.

Bands that did try to emmulate Pantera, though, began to suck when they did. Exodus, with their new vocals, who sooner belongs in a Panterrible-clone Groove Metal/Metalcore band and not in a thrash legend, has begun to suck. Sepultura did something similar to Pantera, it sucked. Lamb of God is one of those Panterrible-clones. They suck. Etc.
@Shenanigasm The act of becoming enlightened and "growing" out of shit, alone, definitely allows the feeling of self-achievement and betterment. It's not hard to actually learn about Metal, especially with the internet. People who continue to hold onto the strand of crediblity Pantera had are just young, dumb, or blind fanboys. The latter being the majority, of course. And fanboys are never better. Whether they're Iron Maiden fanboys, Big 4 fanboys (ESPECIALLY Metallica) or Pantera fanboys.
@ThazuaBlackarrow I understand there's a lot of other amazingly talented metal bands that almost nobody has heard of, But they all respect bands like Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Metallica, Iron Maiden, and Pantera it's the fact that they're all extremely influencial, innovaters of the genre, and you cannot mistake their sound for any other band that makes them so great. And a few of the bands have some really masterful compositions. Dimebag's riffs and leads are second to none imho.

Being unique doesn't make something great, it makes them unique. Being great makes something great. Black Sabbath is great. Judas Priest is great. Iron Maiden is great. Motorhead is great. Pantera had four good albums, but they should have died when they started making awful, dumbed-down Groove Metal, kinda like Metallica died after their 4th album.

@Fuck1nMetal Pantera is entry-level, it's what gets a lot of people into metal. And once you get into Metal, you see they get mentioned less and less.
Out of those bands only Black Sabbath, Danzig, Death, Napalm Death, early Exodus, early Slayer, early Megadeth, early Metallica, early Sepultura, Bolthrower and Testament's first album, are worth mentioning. The rest are shit. No one like Dime, but still better. I mean, Tony Iommi and Chuck Schuldiner, for fuck's sake. Two obvious ones there.

Most of the bands I listen to were around long before Pantera formed or started playing their brand of minimalistic shitty Groove.
Bands that did try to emmulate Pantera, though, began to suck when they did. Exodus, with their new vocals, who sooner belongs in a Panterrible-clone Groove Metal/Metalcore band and not in a thrash legend, has begun to suck. Sepultura did something similar to Pantera, it sucked. Lamb of God is one of those Panterrible-clones. They suck. Etc.

It's not hard to actually learn about Metal, especially with the internet. People who continue to hold onto the strand of crediblity Pantera had are just young, dumb, or blind fanboys. The latter being the majority, of course. And fanboys are never better. Whether they're Iron Maiden fanboys, Big 4 fanboys (ESPECIALLY Metallica) or Pantera fanboys.

@ThazuaBlackarrow I understand there's a lot of other amazingly talented metal bands that almost nobody has heard of, But they all respect bands like Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Metallica, Iron Maiden, and Pantera it's the fact that they're all extremely influencial, innovaters of the genre, and you cannot mistake their sound for any other band that makes them so great. And a few of the bands have some really masterful compositions. Dimebag's riffs and leads are second to none imho.

Being unique doesn't make something great, it makes them unique. Being great makes something great. Black Sabbath is great. Judas Priest is great. Iron Maiden is great. Motorhead is great. Pantera had four good albums, but they should have died when they started making awful, dumbed-down Groove Metal, kinda like Metallica died after their 4th album.

I'm telling you right now, I've listened to a lot of metal so I probably heard most of the bands you listen to and they aren't any more technically impressive and almost none of them have as much musical depth as Pantera. So they stopped playing metal? People like you try to keep music and art from evolving like it naturally does.

Most of the bands I'm talking about were defining their own genres while Pantera were still playing straight-forward Heavy Metal and looking like a bunch of Glamfags.
