  • It's not "Jonathan Ive", it's "Sir Jonathan Ive". Show some respect to the knight commander.

  • Jonathan Ive who?

  • Jony may not make the best CEO, but I would love to see him host a product launch!

  • gay?

  • That is the worst Steve Jobs pic they could dig up. He looks like Mr. Burns with his fingers crossing like that. Couldn't they find a more flattering pic?

  • "He was my closest and my most loyal friend, we worked together for nearly 15 years, and he still laughed at the way I say aluminum".

  • @acidrain55 lol

  • Best designer ever....

  • JONY IVE IS BETTER THAN TIM COOK END OF STORY

  • No matter what I will still look up to Steve to be my role model.

  • @ChildOfTheUniverse do you really think these people would spend so much time saying how great he was if actually he didn't do anything? I think not.

  • don't cry Ive.... we love Jobs

  • sounds like he's reading a book to children

  • ho the fuck are those 8 guys that disliked a tribute to a visionary???

  • About Jony Ive should be CEO,Steve is how make the sense of design first in apple, but is important to say that apple is not only one person is one of the largest enterprises of the world,Is a big group of people

  • dieser Mann arbeitet monatelang an Komponenten, die man im Gehäuse einbaut und niemand außer der Techniker sieht.

  • Who is that at 3:17

  • @duckiegoesquackie Steves Wife

  • No he won't be, today he decided to leave Apple - maybe got a job with Braun, where he got all his ideas from :]

  • @tyrionoutrider Go play with your Android POS, douche.

  • @ChildOfTheUniverse> In a world without Steve Jobs there would have been no Apple Inc. No Macintosh, no iPod, no iTunes, no iPhone, no iPad.

Think about that for a while before you speak again.

  • @larspallesen Thanks to Mike Markkula, Apple was founded. Macintosh was designed by Jef Rankin. iPod, iPhone and iPad were designed by Jonathan Ive. Steve Jobs didn't invent anything. Actually Jonathan Ive said "Steve Jobs stole my ideas".

  • Mile Markkula only made the initial investment. That does not make him the founder. Nearly all business start with an initial loan or donation - that does not make the benefactor a founder. If you visit the website about Mac Folklore, you'll read about how heavily Steve influenced the design of the Mac. Steve Jobs is known for the design and consistent simplicity and reliability of the Apple Environment. J Ive only said that Steve got the credit for his ideas, he didn't say he stole them.

  • @ErichLancaster I was very much amused by the recent Newsweek article where he said, “I have a few good designs in me still”. He never had any designs. He has not designed a single product. Woz (Steve Wozniak) designed the Apple II. Ken Rothmuller and others designed Lisa. My team and I designed the Macintosh. Wendell Sanders designed the Apple III. What did Jobs design? Nothing. - Jef Raskin

  • @ErichLancaster "He [Jobs] will go through a process of looking at my ideas and say, 'That's no good. That's not very good. I like that one,'" Ive told Isaacson. "And later I will be sitting in the audience and he will be talking about it as if it was his idea. I pay maniacal attention to where an idea comes from, and I even keep notebooks filled with my ideas. So it hurts when he takes credit for one of my designs." Jonathan Ive

  • they took our jobs

  • Steve we will always love and miss you

  • The 2 most amazing persons of Apple. Definitely.

  • To people saying Jony should be CEO: Jony loves design! That's his passion, that's what he want to do. Tim Cook is an amazing CEO and Apple is REALLY lucky they have such a great successor after Steve Jobs. Jony is an amazing product designer, but not a CEO type.

So stop saying Jony should be CEO. Cause he's couldn't be, and wouldn't be. Tim Cook is perfect - that's why Steve Jobs choose him.

  • @sexntuna Perfect. Jony has said time and time again that he is a designer. He has tried management, and it only takes him away from his design. What makes him the amazing designer he is, is not being bothered with management issues. Jony is the designer. Steve was the CEO. Now Tim is the CEO, and yes, he will do wonderfully.

  • @sexntuna I was under the Schiller group for CEO, but now I'm glad he chose Tim.(I didn't know about Tim until he resigned)

  • @Bsaefong from what I can tell from the reports of the supposed apple tv he does have at least some business knowledge although it just occurred to me that maybe Steve had discussed this with him and they decided that if they had someone else designing their products they just wouldn't be the same so I think hes probably best in that position and then Steve probably chose tim cook second because he had been doing so much for the company in the past few years

  • Jony is a legend.

  • Johnny should be new CEO

  • @padraicw42 He's an amazing designer. The reason I'm studying industrial design but does he have the Business knowledge to be at the CEO position?

  • Jony crafted this memorial like a fine piece of ah-luh-MEEN-yum. Way to go, Jony.

  • 6 dislikes to windows fans :D

  • 3:08 this passage can be found in steves bio.

  • Design Genius.

  • 6 people work at samsung.

  • I think ives should be CEO. He's the main man, the bloke who does the designing of all the products apple release.

  • yuck, apple.

  • @fdama what do you mean?

  • Sir Jonathan Ive, well deserved.

  • SIR

  • LOL@wahaya2 Oh and congratulations on your knighthood Ive! :D

  • I could listen to jony for days! the way he talks is somehow fascinating to me.

  • Lovely speech, Jony.

  • i came late to the apple party, but i am glad i finally made it! buying an apple was one of the best decisions i ever made! SJ you will be truly missed.

  • Future CEO.

  • f**k me with his accent!

  • Breath taking, wonderful speech

  • Make that Brit, the CEO, everyone is saying that. But steves decision was best, even though that Brit was a super computer :)

  • breath taking!

  • Well Steve my have only had only had 327 Patents but all were great! Now what have done so great? I have 38,000+ lost counting beat it Jerk! Steve did to computers what Microsoft couldn't and made Microsoft you dick@goranduskic Danplas Controls Designs Classified!!!!! Great men share there accomplishment's with all you seam self centered and rued! Be live every thing you read bet if told you the atomic weight of any element you would not know what it was?

  • This guy should be ceo

  • Like a sir.

  • @AppleGnome Nobody inside Apple Inc. can demand Jonathan Ive to do something, nor fire him. Steve made that clear before he passed away.

  • I hope that Jony remains @ Apple as long as possible!!! He maybe isn't CEO material, but to me, he is the most responsible for Apple's succes. Remember this guy designed the iMac, the new Macs, iPods, iPhone and iPad, all Jonathan Ive!

  • Amazing! The new Steve Jobs!

  • Pure

  • i like the tshirt

  • freak

  • its easy to see and understand the gift of thoughtfullness and sensitivity that johnny ive has. really an amazing and fitting tribute to a great man Steve Jobs.

  • Who the fuck disliked this!?

  • @DPCB01 serious die-hard and hardcore and ignorant apple haters

  • @warriorprince1010

As a designer I agree, I think the design community knows this to be true my friend.

  • My hat off to Jony, well spoken, insightful, reflective, and emotive... I agree he should be the face of Apple, Tim Cook might be a wizard at succeeding Jobs as CEO and streamlining things, but Cook lacks the personality, charisma and passion that Jon Ives exhibits. RIP Steve, we know you were not perfect but your obsession with giving us life changing and meaningful technology has forever changed the world for ever actually.

  • @culturphile Very little is known about Tim Cook, an incredibly private man, other than he was hand-picked by Steve Job, himself to succeed him. Don't underestimate Cook simply because we know so little about him. What happens behind the scenes is important too.

  • FANTASTIC

  • His speech was much better than Tim Cook's

  • Comment removed

  • Straight from the heart. Well done jonny

  • Steve Jobs didnt die, Heaven needed a new CEO

  • lol johnnys a hero, but i hate his voice lol. people love it, and his delivery. not me though....he voice is soooooooooooooooo sloooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwww and deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep. lol.

  • laughed at the way he said what?

  • @sweetpotatoass aluminum

  • @steventruongdotcom aluminium, alternate spelling used by Brits, like sodium and potassium vs platinum.

  • @timl2k11 I was actually responding to someone elses' question as to what word steve jobs laughs at but thanks for the spelling difference.

  • @timl2k11 Used by the rest of the world, actually. Americans are the unusual ones in saying 'Aluminum'.

  • That was an incredible speach! Well done Jonathan!

  • many people say ive should be the ceo but if he becomes the ceo whos gonna make those sexy designs?? cook has been running apple on and off since 2003 and he is doing great..ive should stick to making sexy designs!!

  • greatness is showing here when you care enough to love products that become part of our lives, so never should anyone say a bad word to brilliance in makes things that complicated simple

  • Jony is just like Woz, a shy genius.

  • man, he is mesmerizing

  • Jony's not going to do the keynotes guys, he's supposedly really shy.

  • Behind every great person is .. another great person! Tim Cook should stay COO. Jobs is irreplaceable but Johnny comes close.

  • @OrangeSodaLover you go to the apple website and it is on the right bottom hand conner

  • i agree with stibbers really!!

  • @assais oh fuck off

  • I've emailed Tim Cook to make Jony in charge of Keynotes at Apple and that he should introduce all new products. Now everybody here should do the same, email Tim Cook!!

  • Bravo, Jony. Thank you, Steve.

  • so natural a speaker ,... a leader. Jonny.. LA GENTE ESTA MUY LOKKA.

  • Make that man CEO.

  • beautiful speech , if jony leaves apple , it's goodbye to the last bit of heart left

  • His voice is just awesome!

  • i always knew jonathan ive was brilliant. After all he designed IPAD, IPOD and iphone, but now after watching this i can safely say that APPLE is goin nowhere, not until this man is here. AWESOME

  • Émouvant et intense. Il est vraiment le digne successeur de steve.

  • Have to agree, Jonny is a good speaker

  • LMAO! y does he look like he's doing a play?

  • 3:17 is Laurene???

  • I am a 60 year old male. I do not have an Apple product nor do I know much about such things.. . but I wept at the kindness and love of Jonathan Ive's words. I think perhaps many of the things he said about Steve are qualities that he too possesses. How wonderful that two extraordinary men could have worked and shared together.

  • Jony will bring a different yet brilliant culture to Apple, inventing Apple all over again.

  • That's the most amazing speech I have ever heard. So simple yet so powerful. Perfectly delivered.

  • i love how at 6:00 it fades from Steve to Jony

  • Jonathan Ive. Natural leader

  • "He still laughed at the way i said Aluminum" HAHAHA

  • Thanks for uploading the best part of the 1+ hr event.

  • Jony should be apples new spokesman, not Tim Cook at upcoming Keynotes. Jony talks with such passion and conviction. He is the natural successor to Steve on stage.

  • @stibbers Not only on stage ;)

  • @stibbers I've never seen him take part in a keynote except to quickly demonstrate a phone call or something. He probably doesn't like doing it.

  • @stibbers absolutely, he's just an amazing speaker

  • @stibbers so true. tim cook sounds opposite of this, jony always reaches out.

  • Comment removed

  • Who'd have thought Jony was such a brilliant public speaker. Fantastic tribute from a great man to another.

  • Thank you for your wonderful tribute Jonathan, thank you Steve.

  • That was a great tribute!

  • The best tribute of the celebration event.
