  • Thanks for the lick. I have to ask: How do you like the Crusader? I have one on the way in about a week.

  • @dponeill2004 It's a beautiful instrument. Very sweet and mellow, so if you're a fan of Bela Fleck and want to try to play any of his kind of music, you should be well equipped.

One thing I have noticed, though, is that the compensated bridge, which is made of the same submerged water-aged "old wood" as the rim, tends to lean forward a lot, to the point of actually falling forward once or twice which produces a gunshot-like sound.

This may be because I set the tailpiece very low to the drumhead.

  • Thanks for the lick. Hey, I have to ask. How do you like the Crusader?

  • Thanks very much! Look (and listen) carefully at his solos - this is an iconic intro lick which has become part of the song, but this basic pentatonic pattern is a nice and convenient way to end many up-the-neck solos.

He uses this pattern, modified in appropriate ways, fairly often.

  • Thanks a ton for posting this. Clear and with multiple views. Awesome.
