  • me encanta esta canción, creo que nuestros abuelo definitivamente eran más romanticos que nosotros.

  • I admire people like the young boy of 15 years who has sencibilidad to understand this beautiful and nostalgic music taste is very low especially in youth congratulations find laguin glad you think so and who is knowledgeable model that is music not really hear what s now

  • to my friend Marita, the one and only "Pensastaskunen"; have a nice time.

  • wow wow wow... swoon swoon ...

  • I wasn't born until the mid 60's but I grew up with this kind of music because my mom was a teenager in the 50's and she loved it. I always loved it too and still do.

  • @TheJuicyfruitx I feel your pain, for sure. You aren't alone. There are a lot of teenagers logging on to U Tube. They hear the music we used to love to hear. they get totally pi**ed at Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Rihanna, et al. You need to start a movement. I can't unless I eat 3 bowls of prunes first. GO for it, kid.

  • @skaha65 Thank you for your support. I was born in the wrong era. People in school always Laugh at the kind of music I listen to. they all listen to dubstep, its very easy to laugh at that horrible genre of music.

  • Can't post more than a line :p

  • What lyrics they put to the love songs. This is when I fell in love with all those girls. Iwant to go back, if just for a day.

  • Thanks to 'Call the Midwife' for reminding us what a great and beautiful tune this is, one of my late parents' favourite songs.

  • @gillwilkinsongw lol, miranda falls off bike, great tune.

  • two lovers kissed and the world stood still it doesnt get an better

  • music like this beats the hell out of dubstep

  • @TheJuicyfruitx Aww come on. You like this better than lady Ga ga? or Charlie blah blah??

    Me too

  • @skaha65 yes i like it a hell of a lot more. Music Was from a time when you had to sing or play an instrument to be a musician, now, all you need to be a musician is a short sense rythmn and the ability to click and drag, and voilà, there you have it, the crap computer generated auto-tuned sounds that teenagers of this generation call music. you would think this is coming from an old age pensioner, but its not, its coming from a 15 year old.

  • Love, Love, Love!

  • #1 song on the day I was born... :/

  • an old eternal classic LOVE IT

  • Saw the movie and saw it win Best Song of hmm, 1955? Was madly in love and this was our song. Didn't marry the guy....

  • Part of me is like why wasn't I born in this decade ( I was born in 1990 ) but the other part of me makes me appreciate this music more.

  • Love the song. William Holden, Jennifer Jones, made it for me.

  • Beautiful song!

  • Love this, just beautiful.

  • Muy romantica su musica Gloria. Digame si ha recibido un Mail que le mande

  • Listening takes me back to the best ever music that will live forever. Thank you.

  • This song went to the Aces when Eddie Fisher turned it down. He always regretted that.

  • The Original Forever Plaid, Ahh the fifties.

  • Interpretação soberba de um fabuloso, romântico e inolvidável tema musical dos anos 50's !!!

  • Fantastic sound from the 50's and timeless. The key change and high harmony and lows make this a great tune that is about gone from singer of today.

  • When I visit Hkg in 2010 December I was looking for the place where Han Suyin and Holden filmed Love is a mny Splendored Thing . This was a wonderful movie wi beautiful views and the music.

  • replay, replay, and more replay! beautiful song :) <3

  • What many people do not realize is that vibrato is rarely uesed in voice harmony adn here the group pulls it off adding great subtelty to this great song

  • These guys are good but Sinatra has a stronger voice then all four of them together.

  • I never forget them!

  • 1955 ... This song was a #1 hit for the Four Aces. It was the winner of the Academy Awards for the Best Song of 1955. Don Cornell had a big success with the song and as a bit of trivia ... Frank Sinatra had the first chance to record the song and turned it down. It was on the Hit Parade for 20 weeks and #1 for 2 weeks.

  • 1955 ... Paul Francis Webster (w) Sammy Fain (m) ... for the movie "LOVE IS A MANY SPLENDORED THING." I was in the Army stationed at Ft. Benning and working nights (civil service part-time job) at Theater #2 on the Main Post when this film showed up. I showed it 8 times at Theater #2 then went up to the Main Post Theater and showed it 8 more times then out to the Harmony Church Theater where I showed it 8 more times. Know the dialogue of the film and the song by heart.

  • Obviously 3 people are tone deaf !

  • this song is memorable for me coz this is a themesong of my beloved parents. i love you tatay jr. and nanay babing. You are the most wonderful thing ever happen to me.

  • "Forever Plaid" touring show had this superb group of the era in mind.

  • GAURANGA!! -_^

  • ST TRINIANS!!!

  • it's right.....

  • Most beautiful song to win an Oscar.

  • My Grandpa used to sing this a lot. :)

  • Los cuatro ases lo máximo en cuanto a la combinación de voces. En Chile los hizo famoso el maestro Raúl Matas, son grandes y únicos. Siempre cantándole al amor, pasarán generaciones y su música perdurará.

  • Nature is surely giving to this definition of love ....

that makes a man a KING

  • this song came on the radio when i asked out my crush (we were 11) and she said yes, and we kissed passionately until the end of the song

  • A great song from a great motion picture.

  • what do you know about this song ??

    do you have it

Calling All Cars - Four Aces

  • @Aleka517 I'm 75 and I thoroughly enjoy this one. (Joe G.)

  • I grew up during the 50's and songs like this still thrills me. The music all during the fifties was simply wonderfully romantic.

  • I am so glad I grew up in the late fifties and into the sixties-best music of all and thank you you tube for being there for all of us who appreciate great music.

  • I am so glad I grew up in the late fifties and into the sixties-best music of all.

  • The music of any given era seems to reflect the times and the psyche of the people. Beautiful days - beautiful music. Unfortunately now all we get are tuneless talentless screamers. Progress? you decide...

  • Understated harmony and excellence. Perfect.

  • mga ONGO m0hhhh............. ,,i,,

  • mga ONGO m0hhhh............. ,,i,,

  • rupert everett + colin firth = <3

  • @sophlovesphotography

ST.TRINIANS! THATS WHERE IVE HEARD THIS SONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Every decade presents music that people appreciate and forget with time, seldom are there songs that live with you all your life - this beautiful song is one of those.........

  • @TV175mod I agree very much!

  • Talking about the movie, the Jennifer Jones character did the worst mistake of her life don't marrying so soon as her could have done. Fool woman! At least she could have had a son with him. She will cry for her huge mistake and regrets through the eternity...Here in my country,Brazil, this excellent movie had the title "Suffering of a Nostalgia" : I think that the brazilian title was well choose, because was exactly what the Jennifer Jones character was feeling at the final of the movie...

  • @TV175mod agreed I remember listening to this many nights at my grand parents house!

  • @TV175mod Most of the stuff we heard back then (1954 to 62) stuck with us. It was real music and sang about Love.

  • I heard this song from ST.TRINIAN movie.

  • The New Four Aces(Halladay,Lee,Hamels, and Oswalt)are singing tonight:The City Of Brotherly Love is a Many Splendored Thing.

  • This video is posted on Facebook page called "Golden Tunes - Sound of Oldies", so if you have fb account and some time, check it, i guess you will like it :) Page is for everyone who like like warm cozy sound of evergreen music.

  • dzefri

  • I'm glad to see on the comments here that people of Generations X and Y (born after 1960) appreciate this wonderful music. I always thought I was alone in enjoying this style of music among my generation when I was younger.

  • It's my 60th birthday very soon and I am having a 50's themed party because as far as I am concerned this was the best decade ever.

  • Grew up in the 50`s music then was the biggest thing around

Four aces hit after hit for them.

  • Once, on a high and windy hill.

    in the morning mist,

    two lovers kissed,

    and the world stood stll.....

Have you ever heard a better lyric? Ever?

  • @steveknows62 Spot on friend, great film and wonderful song just fab...

  • It sure is!

  • It is really amazing why the 50's seems to be an era of so many wonderful memories most particularly in music. Perhaps, we call them oldies but goodies because they were so and will remain forever. I am not putting down the music of today but for those who were there to experience the 50's definitely understand the difference and why.

  • @ricobpro Yes, the WW2 generation and the Babyboomers have witnessed the biggest cultural changes.

  • @ricobpro

I'll put down the music of today. Or I would, if it actually qualified as music.

  • @ricobpro I absolutely agree. This was an era that was musically blessed with songs that was either high on rhythm or rich in melody and meaningful lyrics............ It was an era that promised hope.

  • @ricobpro

Unfortunately, it seems to me the EARLY '50s music is most often forgotten and panned harshly when it's discussed. The rock '50s, not so much; but the early part pre-rock is often treated with total disdain.

People are so narrow-minded. Too often they lack appreciation for true talent as well as just plain NICENESS. They think everything has to have an "edge" (i.e., preferably sex).

  • I'm 16 and absolutely love this song.

  • @Aleka517 Hey my Wedding song - back in 1995!

  • nobody dislikes this song!!! hallelujah for the splendor of love

  • This was popular in the mid fifties and growing up as a teen then was pure utopia, with so many good groups of singers like the Four Aces.......it still makes my heart melt/

  • @Aleka517 Would you be saying this if Voltar had been adequately portained?

  • I have heard many people's versions of this c;lassic song but none are better than this!.......What more is there to say?

  • @Aleka517 Dittos!

  • Hearing this song again brings me back to my parents home. I get so home sick for those times when my parents were alive and the time in the summer when I could hear my mom in the kitchen cooking dinner and knowing my dad was outside watering the many roses that we had. memories....bitter sweet

  • @jimani1957 Yes, for me I grew up in the 50s, and I know what you mean. Life at that time was much more simple. I miss those days, too, when I was a little kid. I lost my dad to cancer since then, but yes the 50s has so much nostalgia for me too. I`m sorry about your parents. Yes, bitter sweet. Take care!

  • @jimani1957 Yes I do know what you mean exactly. I miss my parents so much, so many memories...... Yes, bitter sweet

  • Just a 22 year old sailor when I first heard this song. It really brings back the memories. Thanks so much for sharing and God bless.

  • When my oldest brother was born, this song was number one.

I had to post this tonight; because he is in a grim battle with brain cancer...and he may not live to see tomorrow.

Dear Lord, must you take him from his parents and sons so soon?

  • @FischerFan I am praying hard for your brother. Have faith. He is in the hands of God.

  • @FischerFan oh no God is love though and it is splendid so if he does leave he will be in a splendid place but wow o god why

  • I have the original British Brunswick 78 release of this fabulous 1955 hit,my musical tastes are very varied but I adore this partcular masterpiece, the arrangement, the perfect diction all adds up to one from my personal Top 20 records of all time .

  • I was in the car with my Mom about 3-4 years ago, and this song came on the radio. My Mom started crying because she thought it was so beautiful and because they don't play songs like this anymore. I got teary eyed also because I remember growing up with this song even though I wasn't around in 1955. It's just beautiful. I heard it on the radio today which was unusual. Mom loved hearing great songs. I wish songs like this and my Mom were still around. Thanks for posting. God Bless.

  • @Beautifulmusiclistnr I feel exactly the same way as you do about music. I love this song, and we will never have great groups like these guys again. God bless, and take care! I wish I could have met your mom.

  • @Scout4Me1 Thank you SO much! You'd have liked her. She was a very sweet lady that loved beautiful music like this song, and she knew every classical piece and who the composer was. I certainly am not the classical expert that she was. Thanks for post and for the great song also! God Bless!

  • this track also saw a revival in the film st trinians starring rupert everett

  • love the ending!

  • Just another great song by this group. If only I could go back for a visit. And I get to see my folks once again Take me back This songs is part of my top 10

Your help makes it possible, Scout ! ! !

  • @chkjns

Like you I really love these guys! I really miss those old days.
