This horse is obviously not being pulled on in the mouth. The riders hands raise after the horse's head does so he doesn't pull him in the mouth! If he kept his hands down while the horse was raising his head, it would bump him in the mouth and make the horse not want to drive with his hind end and create the lift we see beautifully demonstrated here. I have seen pumping, in which they jerk the horses heads up to create the effect but this is the result of correct and humane training. Way to go!
That is so abusive to the horses mouth. There is nothing in this video that is beautiful, natural, majestic or easy-way-of-going that was once the hallmark of Fox Trotters. This video demonstrates just how the MFTHBA has failed to protect their breed from such a negative image while allowing the judging system to reward such inhumane and man-made abominations of gaits in this breed.
This looks so stupid. I hate this. I have owned and ridden gaited horses for years and I hate where the showing has gone. A canter should look effortless for the horse and smooth for the rider. It should make the horse look strong and willing. This looks like the horse can barely move and like he's a toy and the rider has to pump him along with his arms to keep the mechanics of the toy going, it really looks so stupid and I wish the showing of these great animals was based on natural movement.

Couldn't agree with you more! The man looks ridiculous, whoever told him he could ride! It's disgusting.
