Corin did great! You can see she was nervous at first....but near the end of it when she got her confidence she rocked it out! They both have a such a vibrato, I was always curious to what they would sound like together. Neat find!
Girls should sing that part more often. Even chris Cornell had trouble with it in his live performances. Such a great song!! This lady did a nice job. The harmonies need some work. She was a little off.
From this vid, I can understand you coming to this opinion. This isn't a great performance especially the star. That said, Corin Tucker has an INSANE voice and you shouldn't be suprised at getting a lot of thumbs downs for making a blanket statment. I think if you listened to some Sleater Kinney you'd come away thinking she can outsing Eddie
check 2009 baby!! its sick all around despite eddie's voice going a little downhill only because of touring and singing so much which is very typical obviously and cannot judge him for that cause vedder is still awesome
she did VERY well, especially considering the fact that-- in operatic terms-- she is a spinto/dramatic soprano.
so yeah, she was singing a bit out of her range, especially in the beginning, but even then, she has a POWERFUL mastery over her own voice.
i've actually had a few music teachers who have called Corin's voice a "female version" of Eddie Vedder's-- not knowing that the two even know one another.
precisely why i said "temple of the dog MINUS (old man) Cornell"... if you really look at it, we both meant the same thing, only difference is that yer defining TOTD from a strictly Jamilian point of view..technically, at that time, Cameron wasnt yet in Pearl Jam...i said "this", to mean the SONG as sung at this point, referring in effect to TOTD AS IT WAS and AS IT IS, NOW..equals: TOTD MINUS CORNELL...
Corin Tucker usually sings much, much higher. Eddie Vedder's baritone range has got to be an extremely difficult register for her (or any woman) to sing. She also seems a bit uncomfortable without her guitar.
I totally agree, and I'm surprised she didn't sing in a higher pitch like Cornell... what a bummer. I was just thinking that I don't see PJ sing with Slater Kinney on YouTube and just came across this...
> I'm surprised she didn't sing in a higher pitch like
> Cornell...
But she did. She's singing the same parts Cornell did. That pitch is very high for a man, but not for a woman, at least not until the "banshee" parts in the final verse. Ironically, she sounds better there than on the second verse, where the male vocals are hard for her. But as with anything else Corin Tucker does, passion trumps technical perfection.
I loved this DVD
